Having bought one of these cards based on the premise it was a true 4GB card with no rops/cache gimped. I'm extremely pissed. Wtf is wrong with gaming companies that feel the need to lie and mislead customers?!

The R390X can't come soon enough, fuck nvidia.

In old news, Raptor for AMD cards is ace. It might have only some of the features compared to Nvidia's offering but I like it. Replay, record and stream to Twitch options. I've been taking a few Elite vids to test it out...I'll upload one to the 'Tube.

Ah so that explains why some people have reported the card only using 3.5Gb where the 980 uses the whole 4Gb.

Ehhhh... Big surprise? I may be a fanboy, but I prefer nVidia cards for their drivers. AMD/ATi can't write drivers to save their lives.

My cousin has the 970 and from all reports says it's pretty good for the price, but Lestat is right- blatant lies.

I can't see how these R9 290's would need an upgrade any time soon. I did a comparison between my Sapphire R9 290 Tri X OC against the GTX 970 and they rate 7.3 to 7.9 (GTX). Would there be anything other than benchmarking that would set these two apart at this point?

Totally understand but I always desire the newest and best so obviously I'll play the waiting game but I'd love to keep up to date with the latest graphics cards.

Can't believe it has been 2 years exactly since I built my system. Still rocking a GTX 670 2GB with 3770k, but I haven't been playing much PC as late, and when I do it's usually older games I play, so I have no plans in upgrading. Hopefully the new AMD cards don't run as loud and hot? as the 290 series. I think 6-8GB gfx card is must for the long run.

My AMD has three fans slapped on...it's very quiet. But my tower is covered in fans anyway and while they're not loud either, I can't hear anything other than those fans.

Yeah my Asus directCU2 R9 290x is very quiet. Extremely cool as well. Even though my tower is full of fans it's still a great card that keeps cool no matter the game I throw at it. So far it hasn't let me down...

At least nVidea cards work. Scoff all you like at drivers Cletus, but driver issues were the cause of my BSOD hell with my last two ATI/AMD pile of shit video cards. Never, ever again.

Sounds a bit extreme and completely biased but yeah cool. I actually don't have an allegiance. I'll just buy the card that suits me at the time. I'm not insane about frame rates and resolution. I like them to be good. Either choice would meet the criteria.

Nvidia should have ace drivers if they wanna make that other half GB work as fast as the rest of the memory though.

my last two ati cards have both had tendencies to overheat and reset my machine resulting in a need to underclock and use 3rd party software to manage the fans. Bad luck? Maybe but I've heard the grass is much greener so it's probably time to go back to NVidia
