This is the setup I've got. I want to chuck a big SSD in it for select games and the rest stay on big bertha.

Ouch with the weaker dollar and "founder edition" BS, these cars are being priced around $1200-1300 locally. Fuck that's close to what Titans were going for. :?

The wallet raping isn't just limited to Australia.

That's ridiculous, the whole founder edition shit is ridiculous.

I wonder how much I could get for my 980Ti, the answer to that will tell me if I actually do get one of these early on.

Speaking of 980Ti, I use it on a 1200p monitor, could this be a bottleneck?

On a 1200p monitor, not a lot of reason to upgrade. Plenty fast for that resolution.

So on next to no sleep - combination of fear of flying, turbulence and early arrival - I have upgraded all of my components. New RAM kit was the least of my efforts. From cold hard experience, my advice is never install an 240mm AIO CPU cooler while the motherboard is in the case. If you do you are in a for a very bad time. Took me forever to mount the water block properly and align the mounting bracket. In hindsight it is much easier to take the MB out of the case first. New 3TB HDD installed and currently transferring all of my Steam library across. And finally, the new Ducky Shine keyboard arrived. Straight up, typing on a mechanical keyboard is so much nicer. Overall, happy with the small rebuild. Love live the Master Race :aussie:

I was very apprehensive about building my own rig but it is basically just Lego. I think the most stressful thing I've done to date is that water cooler install and that was due to lack of experience and not using a better method. So much more fun than owning a console when you can add things over time.

1070 benchmarks leak. Looks pretty good performance wise for the money. Has the same overlocking power limits as the 1080. The gap between the 70/80 series is much bigger this time around.

Doesn't seem much point in me upgrading from my 908Ti to the 1070. 1080 seems a decent jump though!

What would be better bang for buck though, a second 980Ti (when the price drops following the 1080 release) or a 1080? Purely hypothetical question (for me) at this stage though, just curious.

Going to pick up Acer predator gsync monitor today. Won't be doing any other upgrades for a long time.

I've reached the peak of what I am willing to do with my current build. Not putting anymore money into hardware until after 2018. The only exception being is a new Gsync monitor in the near future.

A beast GPU that works with Gsync makes a Gsync monitor a must, from my experience. There ain't no going back once you get games running up to 144fps for older/less demanding games (DMC 144fps fuck yeeeeaahhh) and even when you get demanding games and a FPS dip below 60 it doesn't impact what you're doing.

Rise of The Tomb Raider before the DX12 patch would often drop down to 50fps but with Gsync it's still smooth and for me it's hard to visually discern between 50 and 60fps on this monitor.

Of course the DX12 patch means that game now runs around 80fps

If those 1070 benchmarks are right I need to determine if I get the 80 or 70. The 80 will be overkill for my TV at 60hz. But I I'll get benefit in VR. Will have to weigh up the cost to performance benefit once they are priced locally.
2nd place is the first loser....

I'd like to see VR benchmarks for the 1070 vs the 980Ti

My PC is giving me the shits. Currently using onboard video. I'm planning on waiting till these new cards come out to drop the price of the current ones before upgrading, which I see is only a couple days away :)

Got a really solid Gigabyte Windforce 760 for $100 if you don't want to wait. New low price of $100 ;)

Finally got around to setting it up after taking ages putting on the stand.

The good: gsync and zero input lag, no tearing. Very smooth. Getting over 100fps in doom.
The bad. Some light bleed around the corners, only noticeable when the screen is black. And the damn buttons navigating the menus are horrible.

Running TF2 at 144fps locked. looking forward in trying many more games. :)

Yeah flip has been dropping some major coin on his setup.

I think he's pretty much set for a long while now.

A Gsync monitor is on the cards for me and a 1080 card. I'll wait for 2/3rd gen VR, the clarity issues are a deal breaker and I feel we are still in the throws of a glide vs directx like api battle.

VR is absolutely a luxury purchase for sure.

Beefy GPU + Gsync monitor is a good combo purchase for sure. Will set you up for some time.
