Re: OculusRift
How much are you expecting it to cost? Is it one of those ' I don't care how much it costs ' purchases? .

Re: OculusRift
Yeah it's one of "those" purchases.
I never had a gaming PC till recently so never had the opportunity to get the DK versions.
I think it will be around 500usd at a guess though.
Will see on Thursday morning at 3am I guess
I'm keen as mustard though I just want one.

I think I'm going to wait until the second or third version. Sick of being an early adopter and getting shafted sometimes only months later with better features or a price drop. This one's a bit difficult because I really want it.

Oculus Founder Says Rift Pre-Orders Won't Sell Out
I shall take him at his word and will check it out when I wake up at my normal time.
Price predictions?

Nup don't trust him. Pre orders may not sell out. Doesn't mean their won't be multiple shipment dates. I want the thing in my hands as soon as humanly possible.

Re: OculusRift
Or even the specs for the updated release due two months later would be handy.

Re: OculusRift
Would that really apply to this, given that there's been "beta" units out for years?Cletus wrote:I think I'm going to wait until the second or third version. I tried a DK1 at PAX a few years ago for a few minutes. That's it.

How was it?
Once you receive it, what content is available for it?

Re: OculusRift
I genuinely think that VR will be the next big thing, and haven't been this excited about gaming for as long as I can remember, but now that we're so close to launch I'm starting to worry about things like should I preorder now or wait for HTC
Will the market end up fragmented or are they just PC peripherals so it won't really matter which one you get?
PS: I tried one at Perth Supanova. Unsure if DK1 or 2. It was some sort of emergency evacuation of a construction site simulation thing at a TAFE stand with PS2-era graphics (so I'm assuming it was made by students). Walking around was via an Xbox 360 controller.
It was enough to convince me.
All Valve games seem to be VR-enabled. There's a tick box in the options screen for Half Life 2, Team Fortress 2 etc.

Re: OculusRift
Similar a Wipeout style game by Tafe students. Didn't blow me away but did make me interested to see where the tech is going.
And now we are at today. Or 5 hrs away to order.
