OculusRift
Did you know an OculusRift development kit is only $300?
I think I found my Christmas present to myself.

Re: OculusRift
Wow thanks I just wasted time looking at pics of Nicholas Cage.
Re: OculusRift
What are you talking about, looking at pictures of Nicolas Cage is never a waste a time.

Re: OculusRift
yeah, I've been toying with the idea of picking one up, but I reckon I'll wait for the next revision with better resolution.

Re: OculusRift
But what if the next version is more expensive and you can't get this version anymore?

Re: OculusRift
if you have tried both versions you'd never consider getting the current dev kit.

Re: OculusRift
I figure it's like a phone screen. I could never go back to a WVGA 4.3" screen after experiencing even qHD, or even 720p screens at the same size. I can't even look at my 720p tablet screen anymore after having the same amount of pixels on a phone screen...

Re: OculusRift
Wouldn't the current version surely appear on ebay anyway, if you really did want to save that money?
I was put in the TF2 training room to try it out for the first time. I had to ask people what to do because even the training text was illegible.

Yep, spent 15 mins on the original, and a few mins with the HD prototype. Chalk & cheeseitch wrote:Have you tried both versions?

So you're saying that 720p looks better on a smaller screen?unfnknblvbl wrote:I figure it's like a phone screen. Re: OculusRift
Picking up an Oculus DK2 is pretty tempting. John Carmack is talking a lot about Android on Twitter though, so it sounds like he's working on Oculus being capable of operating as a standalone device. That'd be awesome if true - I'd get one just so I can watch movies in bed without disturbing the missus.

Re: OculusRift
How much for? Impressions??? Congrats!
Re: OculusRift
467.50 was the price to Australia I knew 350 was too good to be true. I'll give impressions when it arrives in late September bit of a waiting list unfortunately.
