Re: OculusRift
I take some of that back. Following this guys guide I have it running beautifully. http://www.riftracer.co.uk/guides/asset ... ift-setup/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It's a pain you need to set up the pixel per display every race. It will be absolutely great once they get it running in the menus as well to avoid this.
The results are fantastic with it enabled at 1.5 it looks miles better than PCars can produce at 90fps on my card.

Bought Warthunder off steam, got the steam pack for $29.99USD. Currently downloading it. Probably won't get to play it today.
Reading about it in a post on reddit. Sounds too good.

Re: OculusRift
I've had mine for nearly a month only now so I think I can make a good final judgment, I really think if you are buying it to play a lot flight/space sims or driving/racing sims like me then you owe it to yourself to try it at least.
If your prepared to spend hundreds of dollars on a wheel or hotas then you need this the immersion is just too good.
A lot of people brought it expecting more than what they have delivered in terms of games, yeah sure I have played Luckys Tale and its very neat to be playing inside the world but I doesn't make me want to play platformers exclusively in VR
I brought mine as an accessory to my wheel set up for Driving/Racing games and in this regard it has not disappointed, Project Cars, Assetto Corsa and the two Truck Sim Games (probably would never have put this much time into ATS if not for VR) are simply fantastic and I am not sure I want to go back to flat screen racing/driving now that I have experienced this.
Dirt Rally support is incoming so there's another game to keep me busy along with the rest I have plenty to play for the foreseeable future.
I'm sure the Elite Dangerous players using VR would echo my sentiments in relation to flight/space sims.
Non driving games I am looking forward such as Edge of Nowhere should be cool for sure, but I'm not sure once I have played it that I will have the same feeling as driving games of never wanting to go back to flat screen games.
That's my two cents.

Re: OculusRift
After a lot of adjusting etc you'll find that it can be way looser than you'd ever think. Make sure the back part is way low at the back of your head. Then do up the top strap without applying much pressure followed by the sides.

Re: OculusRift
It is actually quite loose. They way I wear it, I can't see anything through the nose gap. I know I read about some people being able to see under the nose gap. It's a very immersive experience, I'm completely blocked out of reality when I wear it.
My eyes feel tired after a session. It's probably something you don't to spend several hours on in one sitting.
Rift/Vive comparison using a racing game.

Re: OculusRift
I've been having an issue with mine for a split second changing my view point. So I'll be racing along and I'll end up on the floor of the car looking at my feet. I think it must be loosing tracking for a split second, reset view fixes it. I think it has to be my wheel possibly interfering with the tracking. Can't recollect it happening without my wheel. I am about 3 meters from the sensor and just under head height when seated at my wheel. So I have ordered a couple of bits to mount the sensor to the top of my TV making it a fair bit closer and higher. Will see how I go.

Re: OculusRift
Had my first taste of VR during a recent trip to Japan, on an Oculus Rift setup in Akihabara.
Demo involved you splashing around on the beach with a hot chick. Good 'ol Japan

Re: OculusRift
My tracking issue was definitely a distance to sensor one. Moved the sensor to sit on my Xbone (at least its getting used) which is closer and it's gone. Hopefully the TV mount will still be close enough.

Re: OculusRift
I'm a bit confused, pre-launch there were all these awesome videos of people playing GTA V, Half-Life 2, Skyrim etc etc etc with their Rifts (dev kits) and now that's not possible? And you have to buy third party software that sort kinda lets you do it?

Has anyone had their lenses fog up? It's happening quite a bit now, I'm guessing because of the weather.

Yeah but only if I'm warm and the Rift isn't and I put it on my forehead for a bit to change something. It's cleared pretty quick

Re: OculusRift
Tell me about it.
And now I'm having all sorts of issues with my bank. They blocked the payment ffs. I just get a text while on the train on the way to work telling me my card's been blocked due to "suspicious activity". I call them and yep, it's Oculus they're blocking. I tell them it'd a legit order, lift the block and they're all like OK your card's unblocked but the order will be blocked again in 24 hours time. WTF? I'm like so if it takes Oculus say 48 hours to process things it'll be blocked even though it's a legit purchase. "Yes". WTF is this BS???
So pissed off.

Re: OculusRift
So I've switched payment methods over to PayPal and after some more emails with Oculus support I now have this:
So my fucking bank has delayed my Rift by at least a week. FUCK THEMI can certainly understand your frustration with your bank, especially when you have been waiting so patiently for your Rift.
The good news is that I have checked the order manager, and your order is now in good standing. Although I cannot say when the next processing batch will happen, your Rift should be ready for shipping soon.
Please let me know if you haven't heard anything after a week or so has passed.

Re: OculusRift
Hmm no good. I did something really silly today. Played a game I have been playing on the Rift since I got it. Project Cars but played it on the TV instead. Really showed how bad it looked in the Rift.

I'm thinking the "best" first gen VR games will end up being the ones with more stylised graphics. And I still reckon an RTS would kick arse.
Still buying Project Cars though when my Rift (finally) arrives because immersion.

Re: OculusRift
Ambrose, did you order on day 1?
I'm reading on reddit that their customer support is pretty bad, let's hope you don't get a dud and have to deal with them.
I tried out Warthunder, but the resolution was too low to see anything in the distance so I stopped playing it.
Looks like you have to design your games around VR, some games don't work well when there's lots of detail.

Re: OculusRift
Yeah it's still awesome in the Rift but it was probably a case of ignorance is bliss and forgetting how good Project Cars looked on the TV before I got the Rift. My new GPU will assist a little. Have to run it pretty low settings to hit the 90fps on my 970.Ambrose Burnside wrote:

Naughty America ( porn company) will have a VR booth at E3.

Forgot about PS4/Scorpio, this is going to have the longest lines.Porn site Naughty America will be showcasing adult VR demos at E3 2016.
“Naughty America is excited to attend E3 Expo in LA June 14-16 to demo and showcase the latest in adult VR content. Naughty America has been on the forefront of technological advancements from HD to 4k and now VR adoption as the first major adult studio to produce VR content,” said the site.
It will have reps ready to “discuss the expanding role immersive mobile content plays in adult entertainment, how gamers utilize VR headsets for adult content and explain the technological horizon,” according to its PR firm.
Last year, traffic to VR porn sites grew over 200 percent according to SimilarWeb.
Naughty America has its own VR headset, a variation on the Google cardboard headset, which it sells for $20.
Does VR porn have a place at E3, a show that is primarily about the video game and interactive entertainment business?
More games publishers have pulled back from the traditional E3 booths, opting to hold their own events and showcases to the press and the public rather than spend money on costly exhibition stands. Maybe that’s your answer, right there.

I didn't get up the minute preorders went up at 2am or whatever it was, I got up at my normal time and preordered then
The lady at Oculus I've been dealing with has been really good, but I guess I won't really know for sure until my Rift is in my hands.
Any idea what settings I'll be able to run it at to hit 90fps in the Rift? I have a GTX 980Ti.Kangawallaby wrote:Yeah it's still awesome in the Rift but it was probably a case of ignorance is bliss and forgetting how good Project Cars looked on the TV before I got the Rift. EDIT: Just bought the GOTY Edition @40% off on Steam

Re: OculusRift
Overall I think the shine is definitely starting to wear off for me. I was really enjoying it now the gimmick of it is wearing off a bit.
