Spiderman breaks record for fastest selling Sony published title. 3.3m copies sold in 3 days.

Very impressive and much deserved.

Doesn't surprise me given how nice it looks plus spiderman is the most popular of the marvel heroes.

The developers should be proud. Isn't this grey wizard's fave comic book or something? Notice how he hasn't posted that he likes it and the game is awesome? Does the greywizard curse of him liking games that are shit still happen anymore? Has he told anyone that it sucks which means people should buy it?

Playstation 4 thread

Post by flipswitch »

Bought Days Gone for cheap.

Quick impressions:

Controls are meh, probably my biggest issue with the game at this time. Clunky with annoying input lag.

I don’t like the movement of the characters and riding the bike is a chore.

Feels generic like I’ve played this game times before, including story and characters.

It Isn’t grabbing me, playing more to get it to ‘click’

I hate how they have this weather system yet nothing in environment is interactive including plants, reminds me of Horizon.

Has the typical UE4 pop-in found in other titles.

Character models are good as well as eyes.

Needs more polish in the animation department particularly during combat with enemies and zombies, doesn’t flow or look as good as Sony’s other first party games.

Enabled gyno aim so I can tilt to controller to fine tune aiming.

From my 1hr and 30mins I’d rate it 6/10.

I will continue playing through it.

Update;

Player an additional 1hr30 mins and I am happy to see it has clicked.

I’ve adjusted to the controls and with gyno aim it’s far more better.

Oh and the bike, had more time with and I’m much better at handling it.

Up from 6 to 8/10.

Looking forward to exploring more.

Update;

Back to 6-7. I thought it clicked but I’m having second thoughts about it again.

Still my biggest gripe is the controls and how heavy and laggy they feel.

And just how generic everything is in general.

I had some great moments yesterday clearing a camp.

I don’t like how the camera is so close to the character.

Since buying it on Friday I’ve downloaded about 36GB in patches.

I took out the game and I’m having a break.
Put in God of War and will continue with that and I will come back when I have the urge.

Good guys them Sony people. 4 games for free forever, no PS+ required except I expect for Journey's multiplayer.

I have Dirt Rally 2.0 on Steam and since it's just appeared for PS Plus users, had a go of it on the (standard) PS4.

The only really notable thing to report is that screen tearing is bad. Maybe about once every 2 seconds. It's 60fps but that doesn't mean an awful lot in this case.

It's coincidental that it appeared on PS Plus right after weeks of me playing the bejeezus out of it on PC; daily with the occasional 6-hour sessions, with 90fps and g-sync. Judging PS4 performance right when PC performance in the same game has been massively drilled into my skull is pretty much a worst-case scenario for forming a fair impression, so while I find it sadly too unpleasant to embrace on PS4, I'm not sure how valid my impression would be for others.

The lack of graphics options is a bugger (but not a surprise obviously). Can't even disable the 1999 lens flare... ouch.

I love the game so I don't like to not-recommend a try. But
- it's also very tough to play ("Dark Souls of rally" is a term I've read a few times),
- its career mode is bare bones, and forced online, and messed about by weird design decisions with DLC,
- and the game's download size is something between 80 and 110 GB

So it's admittedly a bit of a tough sell.

I haven't even renewed my PS+, not sure the if I ever will despie the few great games given away. Last time I played online was the last EA co-op game A Way Out or something and that was 2 years ago.

Edit, I tell a lie, I had a go of GTAV racing briefly.

I haven’t got PS Plus too, and haven’t for years. The only “online” services I’m using is Nintendo online, but that was mainly due to cloud saves as there’s no other way in backing them up!.

Cities Skylines is addictive as fuck. The sort of game where you check the time and go WTF where did those 4 hours go?

Haha, I knew when I posted that someone would (rightfully) defend Skylines, but I couldn't resist shitting on Farming Simulator.

I'm surprised that Uncharted 4 spin-off with the women hasn't been given away yet.

I stewed for minutes on whether to get Farming Simulator when it was Epic’s free game. Ended up adding it on the off chance a farming simulator might come in handy one day. Not the most compelling buy proposition but such is the times.

Oh yeah, Farming Simulator is trash.
I sat there playing it in disbelief and fascination. That level of disbelief actually held my attention for a good 30-60 minutes. Still didn't get a press start achievement for my trouble.
The intro got a good chuckle out of me though. That bass drop, tempo increase and hype from 35s. Tractors and Harvesters! Fucking yeah!

100% my impressions also for both games. I still can't believe Farming Simulator. So many good games to play... just why...
