Not reading too much into these hardware reviews (interestingly Polygon stated that although Ryse looks beautiful it's boring and "thankfully short"!!!) they are a long term investment. The 360 at launch compared to today is a totally different beast. Still nice to read about some of the stuff it can currently do. Can't wait to test it out on friday!

Yeah that's what I hearing about Ryse. Nice to look at, gameplay that is basic and just okay, and short. This all makes sense for what was originally a Kinect game.

If the game is indeed just okay I'll wait and get it as cheap as I can.

Polygon confirmed what we all knew - xbone > ps4.

8/10.

I'm surprised the Xbone is just as half-baked as the PS4. Especially given how rock solid the 360 OS was from day one.

I'd like to get one eventually, but not until they shrink it (and have a price drop). That size is ridiculous.

Flaky Kinect, poor snap functionality, missing features, etc.

That kotaku review comes off like a neogaf troll post. Not surprised you love it mech.

I doubt that would save very much, especially after the added cost of making two models is considered.

I think a more likely 'tard pack' would be in a year or two. I reckon they'll eventually release a Kinect free model, especially if the PS4 gets a lead in sales. As much as MS might want to push the Kinect I can't see them letting the cost of it prevent them from trying to undercut Sony.

Stopped in my local JB on the way home, they still have 15 Xbones available and a few of them are the Fifa packs for $598. If I could flick off my Wii U I would probably bite but alas, these reports just confirm that I should wait.

You know, if the 'bone is suppose to be on all the time, I'd be pretty annoyed if it can't do updates (system or game) automatically, like Android does.
It really bugs me when I go to play a 360 game, only to have to wait for an update first.

Yeah but atleast the update is only a few secs at that. Put in a PS3 game and you could be greeted with a patch over a 100mb (Resistance 2 had a 600mb patch!)

Yay... only two more sleeps.

Sucks that I know have to go into work and give a tute at 9am. Could be the world's quickest tutorial!

JB don't open till 9am anyway.

Love the reports that it is quiet... didn't like using the 360 as a DVD player because of the noise.

Sad panda about the HDMI input lag. Was going to HDMI switch the X360 through the One with Foxtel... but that seems pretty much useless now.

 I was prompted by a bunch of patches totalling 3.5gb 6 months after I bought the game.

No it doesn't actually. The issue is he doesn't pause after saying xbox. The system won't accept commands until you go into listening mode as seen in the top right corner. Its the equivalent of holding down your home button siri/google now.

This is how it's done, understanding when xbox is listening.

In order to give you a preview of what you're downloading, we've supplied performance analysis of the gameplay video, proving that Turn 10 has done it again in providing a faultless 60fps experience. We're currently working on a more detailed critical appraisal of the technology in the new Forza, which we hope to run in the next couple of days.
Simply flawless 1080p 60fps locked only on xbone.

Shame about the game itself.

http://arstechnica.com/gaming/2013/11/f ... real-thin/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The good

1080p, 60 frames-per-second racing with tons of detail and visual effects to spare.
The best-in-class gameplay built by Forza Motorsport 4 returns.

The bad

Thin track selection and bad league-series pacing make the game feel repetitive way too quickly.
Drivatar delivers all of the annoyances of real competitors and little of the compelling, human nuance.

The ugly

If it seems like car unlocking is taking too long, just show Microsoft your good friend George Washington

An outstanding improvement to an already excellent racing franchise. It's far more than just a great racing sim, or a gorgeous showcase for the types of feats the Xbox One hardware is capable of. This is a game built on the romantic thrill of motorsport in all its forms, and that love for its subject matter is all but impossible to resist.

Polygon Nov 20, 2013

Forza 5 is beautiful, sure, with a stunning, light-filled world of engines and tire smoke. But with the introduction of aggressive, convincing AI that makes every offline race feel like a multiplayer competition, Turn 10 has charted a course for the future of the series — and created the Xbox One's first must-own game.

Game Informer Nov 20, 2013

This is the most fun I've had racing in a Forza title, and yet it's not the most complete entry in the franchise.

IGNNov 20, 2013
88
It may be lighter on girth than where we left off last generation, and still lacking much-requested features like night racing and rain, but wrestling a car through some of the world’s most legendary corners at the very limits of adhesion has never looked or felt this good on console.

Simply outstanding to deliver a 1080p 60fps flawless next gen experience on launch, only on xbox.
