Agree with Mavy. Jasper is a one note gag account. Joke was old even three generations ago.

I don't mind a troll Rocco, the only reason I keep you around. But you fill up threads with spam they become incomprehensible.

I constantly hear complaints from others because of the spam. Banning you wouldn't be hippocritical at all. Mavy is right.

I joined team HDR this weekend and wow it really does make a huge difference. I think it makes more of a difference than the 4K but both together are (to quote Madmya) amazeballs.

Nothing will ever be too dark again, EVER! The very first thing I played was WWII and I happened to be at a stealthy part crawling through the dark to avoid detection. The glow off the vehicle tail lights was the first thing that hit me. Then there was a search light, lightening all at night time and everything was perfectly visible.

The second thing was Forza 7 and fuck me it looks great. I was at Silverstone on a cloudy day and there was one corner where the sun was behind the cloud and moments later in full sunshine. The lighting transition had me grinning like an idiot. I haven't been this excited over new kit in years.

Yep that's the awesome part of HDR, you get clarity and shadow detail in the dark parts of the image while still retaining bright highlights in other areas, lots of games have been rendering in HDR for a long time, it's just it was all tone mapped and clipped to get it on a SDR TV. This is why I've abandoned PC versions in favor of HDR on XOX. Once you experience it, it's hard to go back to SDR, looks so flat and dull in comparison.

Keep an eye out for the options menu in games, a few have calibration options to adjust the max nits. I found in AC:Origins for instance it was using a 800nit max setting, setting that to 1000nits to better match my TV produced much better highlights. Forza7 and Gears4 have calibration settings too.

What TV did you get Lepo?

Panasonic TH-55EX600A 55" UHD HDR Smart LED LCD TV - Due to some pretty extreme space restrictions I couldn't go up in size from what I had but I'm more than happy with the increased resolution and HDR.

Nice Panasonics are great, excellent tone mapping in them. I believe DF use one in their face offs.

This years models also have really good input lag, around 20ms.

Checked out AVForums on youtube. See if you model is listed for best picture settings. I had tried various other settings, but found their settings really improved the picture, especially more pop with the HDR

Hey Lestat, those Black Friday MS sales are they worldwide or do you have US live account still? Looks good some of those deals.

2nd question, is Panasonic OLED the LG OLED? So I've been looking at panels leading up to Christmas and I def want an OLED TV but I thought OLED was LG only but now I see Panasonic and Sony have some OLED Tv's, I'm assuming they have licensed it from LG? I have loved my Panasonic Plasma so I would be keen to probably go a Panasonic OLED if it's actual OLED.
Vzzzbx, you lose again!

We got the black friday sale last year, so I'm assuming we get them again this year.

Every OLED you see on the market is made by LG they have patents on the white OLED filter technique, they OEM the panels to panasonic/sony/phillips etc now.

I have the LG C7 65inch. It is friggin awesome. Nice thing about the LGs is that every model in the range had the exact same picture quality. You only pay more for the bigger built in sound bars and design. LG also have the most complete feature set in terms of supporting all the different kinds of HDR and what not.

It was brought to my attention that the GoW publicity shot I posted some pages back was heading up the thread on Tapatalk. Not an ideal image for general browsing. I removed it but Tapatalk still displaying it. It’ll probably drop off Tapatalk’s servers soon but here’s a relevant image that will hopefully overwrite it in the meantime.

Overwatch team is excited with great possibilities Xbox One X opens. The team is currently exploring how the game experience can be enhanced on this platform to leverage the console's incredible hardware, and is working on implementing 4K resolution in the game on Xbox One X. It is very important for the team to make sure the user interface looks natural on a truly big screen. We will share more details about our plans for 4K support on Xbox One X later.
Blizzard in love, another developer blown away.

Forbes reporting runaway sales for XOX. 'People want power, plain and simple.'

Early Sales Indicate Xbox One X Is Blowing Away Everyone's Expectations

Microsoft
Xbox One X

Who on earth wants a “premium” $500 Xbox One X console when every other system on the market is selling for $100-$300 cheaper than that?

A lot of people, it turns out.

It’s starting to seem like the fanboys were right. Early sales numbers for the Xbox One X are trickling in, and the console is surprising everyone with rock solid debut numbers. Many in the press were skeptical of its chances at that price (myself included) and even Microsoft seemed to be downplaying how it expected the Xbox One X to perform compared to other consoles and its own Xbox One S, always pushing the idea that being a “premium” product and price was obviously going to suppress sales to some degree.

But these early numbers are encouraging. The Xbox One X has sold 80,000 units in the UK in its first week of release, according to GamesIndustry.biz. That is not only pretty high for the region, given the PS4’s popularity in Europe, but it’s also a figure that took the PS4 Pro four weeks to hit last year.

That report was retweeted by Microsoft’s head of Xbox Games Marketing, Aaron Greenburg, who also added the following:

“Huge thanks to everyone for their support of @Xbox One X. Great initial results not just in UK, but seeing similar results across Europe. NA #s much bigger, amazing first week!”

It’s almost worded like a Trump tweet, but the message seems pretty clear, the Xbox One X is performing not just well in the UK, but in the rest of Europe and in its home base of North America as well. We don’t have the figures from other regions yet, but I would expect them to be similarly high, and surpassing metrics set by the PS4 Pro.

So how did Microsoft pull this off? A few thoughts:

Analysts have been underestimating this console generation from the start. There was a fear that the Xbox One and PS4 would fail to reach the heights set by their predecessors, but they’re on course to surpass them. There was a fear that Nintendo’s Switch would fail like the Wii U, yet it’s poised to be one of the company’s biggest hits ever. In short, whatever you’ve been predicting about video game hardware in the last generation has generally been wrong, and it seems that may be true about the Xbox One X as well.
The Xbox One X may be outperforming the PS4 Pro by this severe of a margin because it’s…a better console? I mean, it just is. Leaving aside PS4’s exclusive games roster, the Xbox One X is flat-out 40% more powerful than anything else on the market. A clear leap above Xbox One and PS4, and also more than the Pro itself. That kind of skip forward makes it more coveted by fans who desire power above all else. A slight power edge was in part why PS4 dominated Xbox One at launch, and now the tables might be turning (though it’s unlikely MS can catch Sony at this point in terms of total sales).

I’m also willing to bet that in 2017, we’re seeing more and more people finally pick up 4K TVs, as it’s really the only way to go if you’re in the market for a new set. 4K is such a huge part of the Xbox One X experience, and the difference is noticeable. PS4 Pro may even have helped push that along because if people were saying how great games looked on the Pro in 4K, now we’ve arrived at an even more powerful system that can use your TV to an even greater extent, and so the choice to pick up an Xbox One X was easy if you owned a set.
I don’t know, those are probably not all the reasons, but they’re the ones I can think of that make the most sense. It’s frankly miraculous that Microsoft has done all this without any big exclusive titles this year (Forza aside), simply acting as the best place to play third party games, and wowing people with great-looking, Xbox One X-patched titles like Wolfenstein, Assassin’s Creed and Battlefront.

I am very curious to see Microsoft release more Xbox One X sales numbers, which I am sure they will be bragging about soon enough. It’s been a long time since Xbox sales were anything to celebrate, but it seems the Xbox One X has defied expectations and the odds. People want power, plain and simple.

You can imagine my surprise to learn that I've been missing out on at least one third of fun here.
