under the way things are now (and probably would have been originally anyway), if your game needs an update, you just can't play it until it's updated. It's ridiculous.

That is indeed fucked. Not the case on that other console. The Halo 5 limited edition xbone bundle comes with a download token and not a retail copy. Another stupid decision.

Just think about it, with the amount of patches dropping out, some 10-20GB worth, you'll never play the game for days.

By xbox I take it you mean the 360? I agree, it was a breeze - just pop in the game ( or instal it) download a tiny patch if necessary and you're in the game.

I am in the process of moving house at the moment, I have no internet. I have big time urges to fire up the bone (lol) but I just don't want to play Forza because I love comparing lap times to you guys and I can't play Destiny at all. In the older scheme, if I REALLY needed to play the xbox, you'd just have tethered your phone on bootup and then disconnect. The licence confirmation lasts 24 hours if I remember correctly. Really not that big of a deal. But I'd guess that 75% of the most vocal complaints own a PS4 anyway.

75% of the vocal complaints jumped ship to PS4. I loved the OG Xbox and the 360, in fact looked forward to the bones release, until the initial unveil.

The tethering option works on current gen but it chews up data pretty quick. Remember what plans were like 3yrs ago when the 'bone was unveiled, they were shit, at the end of 2012 my plan had 100mins and 50mb with free Facebook. Tethering wasn't an option unless you had a company phone.

100 mins?! Hahah I assume you mean 100mb. I didn't have much data either, and even today I still can't play with my phone constantly tethered otherwise I'd be slapped with a huge data bill. From my understanding you only needed to be online on bootup so that your console etc is verified, after that you could disconnect and you'd be right for 24 hours. A pain for those couple of weeks, but very doable.

No dude, 100mins of call time (NZ deals give you mins so you know what you get, not like here $300 of calls means shit if I don't know how much the call is costing me per min) and 50mb of data. Keep in mind this was 2012.

Oh, call time. Yeah 50mb is fuck all but I'm pretty sure I had more than that in 2012. Regardless, like I said, you only needed to have it connected when you turned the console on, not whilst playing. This is also when people are net-less when moving houses, usually for 2 weeks and a relatively rare event in itself.

Turns out Microsoft aren't so nice after all, the bonus will be to the value of $69. So whilst the americans will get a refund that will enable them to purchase a full price game, we aren't quite there. I'm going to buy from the US store.

If you have preordered the Elite console bundle from EB (I have because I think it's an ace deal), when you pick it up on Friday, you get a free physical copy of Black Ops 3.

So trade in your old xbone, pay $324 and get the elite console, controller and Black Ops 3 which releases Friday too. Black ops was never in the original deal and it was a good enough deal then.
$200 for the elite controller
$124 for the Elite console and Black ops 3.

After trade of course.

I could write essay on why I'm so disappointed with Halo 5, all I'll say is it's by far the worst online multiplayer halo game I've played.

I had a bad feeling as soon as I saw the videos that 343 hired the MLG "experts" unlike aussies who have put up with Major Lag Gaming with halo for 10 years and think they are going to fix your game, they have taken the fun out of it and turned it into an pro competitive fest....breakout? huh

No forge? I don't care that it's honestly delayed never used it, Big team Battle is added in december? why wouldn't you want to have a decent playlist at launch? Oh yeah that's right warzone is available with it's "req packs".

I'm not surprised that the big team battle maps are going to be forge maps? Wow! after one of my first games on the shitty xbox first gen looking map orion playing multi I though I was playing reach again....after the lack of a decent amount of bungie made multiplayer maps on reach (apart from forge ones) bungie had already jumped ship which was understandable in a way. The way that 343 handled multiplayer in the early days on Halo 4 wasn't great until they changed it up and more like old halo and I though that they learnt their lesson....obviously not.

Campaign was short and repetitive, the advertising campaign was a lie, why does chief need 3 sidekicks? I preferred the campaigns without the useless A.I companions, for a game that took 3 years on a so called new engine I'm not impressed, Angry Joe has his merits in this game and I hate to say it cod/battlefront/rainbow 6 <- which was pretty crap mind you, is going to kill halo 5 due to the incompetence of 343 not listening to the fanbase in the first place and launching a game with hardly any content.

Music is a nice improvement on Halo 4, the weapons actually feel useful in the campaign unlike the promethium weapons in halo 4....overall they need to fix the multi asap, the aiming is broken (as many people have pointed out) I never thought I'd say that Halo has finally lost me, was bad enough with the MCC!

Quick impression of the Elite Bone and control pad.

It needs a 2GB update the moment you turn it on.

Other than that, it's not so garishly shiny now. they've dulled it down a bit and it looks a bit nicer. The control pad turned on the machine really well and choosing yes to update with the A button was a breeze.

The nice braided green and black charge/play cable doesn't have that little orange/white light built into to it so as far as I'm concerned, it's inferior. You can't be sure you're charging and don't know when you're fully charged so I'm swapping it back to the original charge and play lead.

Wow job... I'm the opposite.
I'm yet to play most multi maps as I'm hooked on warzone, played breakout once and liked it.
Aiming feels fine to me... Sniping feels fine.

I will be pissed if btb is forge maps, I hated all the forge in reach.
