http://www.mwave.com.au/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; has the Gainwards for $420 a piece. I managed to flip my 2 x 670s for $250 a pop to dampen the financial hit. Originally I was going to get a single 980 but figured the two 970s would be a better value proposition.

Stupid question: mwave accepts trade ins or did you sell it somewhere else?
Re: Master Race gaming thread
Flipped the 670s to two workmates who bought a single 670 each when MSY had them on sale after the launch of the 7 series.

Re: Master Race gaming thread
overclockers.com.au forums used to be a good place to sell second hand pc cards. I have an old 570 I need to offload and soon a 7970Ghz.

Re: Master Race gaming thread
$250 for a 670 is crazy good, well done.
Re: Master Race gaming thread
200 would be good to get for a 670 imo.

Re: Master Race gaming thread
Yeah I was thinking if I got $200 for mine when I get rid of it I'd be laughing, they dropped really quickly on overclockers.com.au once the 770+780 came out
Re: Master Race gaming thread
These are the 4 gig variety which they both have been after for a while to run SLI. Certainly not unhappy with the sale price.

Re: Master Race gaming thread
So last night did a full strip and rebuild of my system, reason being all the latest video cards are becoming too tall for the old case.
So I went from a Silverstone GD05 case to a Silverstone TJ08-e. Part of the process I also picked up a coolermaster 212 evo cooler. I have plenty of room for the taller video cards that are common now and my temps have dropped dramatically.
I can prime stable my system @ 4.5GHZ 1.33~1.37v and the temps are 60~65 degrees. Amazing.
The old case and cooler(sythe shuriken) I was hitting 80~85 degrees under the same prime test.
My GPU temps have fallen too by 5-10 degrees from better air flow, that 180cm case front fan is great.
TJ08-e is a great compact case for those with microATX systems but want high end coolers/gpus, highly recommend it.

Now that the Microsoft console is the weakest on the market, I'm happy to welcome you back to the fold lestat.

Re: Master Race gaming thread
I never left. :/
My 2500k is 3 years old now, best cpu I ever owned and I've owned many.
That dell monitor has a bit of mileage too, I'm holding off for freesync/gsync before upgrading to something 27inch+.

Re: Master Race gaming thread
I had a coolermaster 212 on my previous CPU, for it's price it's a great overclocker
I'm only on 4.2ghz on my 3570k now under a Notcua DH-12. When I get some time over Xmas I'll try to push it to 4.6

I use one of these, gel mousepad.

Pretty good if you get a sore wrist while using your mouse.

I just use a bag of minced meat. You have to change it every few weeks though.

Re: Master Race gaming thread
I kinda prefer the shorter throw of a Chiclet keyboard, I just got a new keyboard today, it's a cougar 200k gaming keyboard. It has scissor switches like the old keyboard but with nicer contoured keys and anti ghosting, windows key lock etc. Also has blingy led lights too.K.T.Shoe[BMs] wrote:lestat, dude you got a great set up... but what's up with the crappy keyboard?!
Also I picked up a new monitor recently, went for a Samsung s27d590p. virtually Zero input lag, excellent motion, great colours, blacks are worse than the old VA monitor, overall a nice improvement over the dell. It's 1080p because I want locked 60fps, 1440p even with top end gpus has dips with newer games, dpi is a little worse but since my desk is deep enough it's not an issue.
The 27 inch size really fills your FOV, but I do miss the height a 16:10 provides for desktop work, 16:9 is better for gaming though.

1080p is a fucking blight on the PC industry. I've had my Dell 30" wqxga monitor for four years now, but people are still under the impression that 1080p is king shit.
I'm actually looking at getting a 4K monitor in the next 12 months - there's some very reasonably priced ones out there, I just need more inputs than currently available.

Re: Master Race gaming thread
Be warned with 4k monitors, currently they're all TN panels and have a lot of input lag, 40ms+.
I'd love 1440p but like I mentioned even top end GPUs struggle to deliver solid 60fps with 1440p, plus 1440p monitors have input lag in the range of 20-30ms.
The Asus ROG is the only 1440p monitor on the market with <5ms of input lag, Gsync helps there since the requirement for solid 60fps is loosened, you can float between 40-60fps and not suffer tearing/judder. But the panel is TN based, so you get the crappy colours and viewing angles/colour shifting.
Right now 1080p is a sweet spot if you want solid 60fps and sub 1 frame input lag with nice IPS colours.

Picked up the last piece of my build today, a TP-LINK ADSL 2 modem (N600 to be exact). I've been running an old Thompson Bigpond modem linked up to a Netgear N600 for the past 3 years. No issues with the Netgear but the Thompson was a gunky POS. Hooked up the TP, no issues - even have NAT 2 on the PS4 for the first time ever, I could almost cry. Cheap too, only set me back $110.
