Picked up a new mouse, last G502 in stock. Had $100 gift card so cost me $29. Love the new keycaps but Mito as well. Things cost me about the same as the keyboard itself. Trying to stick with KBAM only for FPS now to get better at it.

I, for one, welcome our new ray tracing overlords. It's about damn time we got it happening.

Not keen on the prices, but now I'm in a bit of a quandary. The 2070 is what I'd be looking at, but that's fiendishly expensive. The 1070 though, isn't enough of an upgrade over my current 970 to be worry the money. And of course, a 1080 will run at a similar price as a 2070.

Ugh!

I remember lambchop banging on about Ray tracing from the PS2 era. Looking forward to it but it's not enough to justify a new card. Plan to upgrade whenever I can afford the new 4K 144Hz Gsync monitors

Impressions from people at the event aren't exactly glowing right now.

" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I played Shadow of the Tomb Raider on an Nvidia RTX 2080 Ti tonight. It did not look great. Here are some shots from my shadowplay capture. At the event they only allowed 1080p 60fps capture via shadowplay. I'm a bit worried about my $1300 pre-order AMA
So I was at the event today and left disappointed.
I got to play the following:

Metro Exodus - build was buggy, overdarkened everything so I couldn't understand anything on my screen. Guy next to me had it running ok and all the light effects were pretty sweet. 1080p, max settings, advanced physx on seemed to be a stable 60 fps

Shadow of the tomb raider - it looked average at best, didn't notice any bonus to the RX, video settings were unaccessible.

Asseto Corsa Competizione - incredible driving rig, didn't give 2 cents about the graphics but nothing really stood out either.

Battlefield V - everything was either too bright or too dark, personally hate it plus gameplay was nothing to write home about, probably why preorders are down 85% allegedly to the last game

All in all I'm disappointed, I wanted to give nVidia my money but they didnt do anything to show me why I must link it to my B7. Everything was about RTX and breakthrough and blah blah... Until they show me 4k performance, I'm sitting out. And I was so ready to get a PC, after winning an 8086k. If they don't bring much other than RTX ON ( oh and don'tget me started on the list of games supporting it lol ), I'll just sell the CPu and wait for next gen when they might be able to drive my B7

What the hell is a B7?

Anyway, I'm not seeing nVidia pulling another Pascal-like 2-year wait between generations with this one. Give it 6-9 months, and we'll see a 25xx series, if not a 3xxx series come out on "Turing+"
Hopefully AMD haven't been pissfarting about like they normally do and have something ready for ray tracing acceleration. Could be interesting to see something like that in the NextBox/PS5.

On another note, I got fed up with my AsRock motherboard losing two SATA ports on hot boots, so I ordered me an MSI X470 Gaming Pro Carbon 'board. Should be here by Friday. Boom boom.

LG OLED display.

https://www.pcgamesn.com/nvidia-rtx-2080-ti-hands-on" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
But still, it’s tough not to be a little concerned when the ultra-expensive, ultra-enthusiast RTX 2080 Ti isn’t able to hit 60fps at 1080p in Shadow of the Tomb Raider.
But of course there is still a hefty performance hit to the game. Again we were capturing the game resolution at 1080p and while we couldn’t bring the fps counter up in the show demo version, we’d bet it wasn’t hitting 60fps either. And in a competitive online shooter visual fidelity is arguably far less important than getting a high frame rate. And running at a higher resolution, without the ray traced reflections, would likely be preferable too as you could actually see more detail at range for those precision shots from downtown.
Hmmm very concerning for $1900!!!!

It's the illuminati. They do this shit on purpose so you all have to trust in cloud gaming and if the connection is poor you don't get to respond to shit in time and you lose your fight money. Fuck the reptilians. They know everyone is too poor. They are playing shit and watching lifelike porn on holographic displays like in the star wars movies while we get scraps that fall off the table.

Once enough tech companies get sick of competing they just form a cartel and make everything expensive like the way energy companies do just to fuck with your minds. Gentrification is happening in the master race community as I predicted would happen (the chinese slaves are becoming wealthier demanding more money I reckon) . Whoever is poor that owns PC is going to have to move to the ghetto with the console peasants where the air smells like some guy farted but its just the dog that took a dump on the console which nobody cleaned off because they know EBgames will do it after they trade it in after only renting it to play one or two triple A exclusives. Very sad. But on the bright side it gives consoles some time to catch up. You guys forgot that VR is supposed to be the next step in gaming. This will make old ladies feel like they can be 20 again and allow e-tourism business to thrive when people want to visit mars without having to go there and get eaten by monsters living there. A whole movie by steven spielberg was made about it and shit. Don't you guys care about that stuff anymore? All they need to do is design the suits that respond to our muscles in our body and translate that into the in-game character/avatar and then anything in the game that affects the avatar sends the signal to your head to simulate the experience. (brain sensing and receiving tech will be incorporated into the future helmets to induce emotional states like fear or happiness - DARPA is probably working on or already has that shit.) NBN and 5G is coming so cloud thing is what they are betting on. This way even poor people can get the good graphics by paying subscription. Yes its shit now but when qauntum computer become common all the old style computers will be phased out. The only reason we don't have it is security reasons. IE hacking.

related:
https://www.urbandictionary.com/define. ... rification" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
When a bunch of stupid rich liberals buy land near poor peoples' houses and build expensive houses and specialty restaurants. This forces the poor people out due to rising expenses.

Once gentrified, the once-affordable houses will become overpriced cafes, specialty restaurants, high-end lofts, and even social justice centers (no, not actual Social Justice, Social Justice Warriors.)

The neighborhoods usually become commercial centers (only for those who can afford ten dollar ice cream,) art districts (only for people who like urinals being passed off as art,) and gay neighborhoods (not for gays who got chased out of their houses by their homophobic, conservative parents and are broke, but for ones that can afford to go to Gay Day at Disney World every year.)

They also have dumb abbreviated names (for example, a town called Greentown might call a gentrified neighborhood in their southwest "GreToSoWe.") Some think that gentrification only affects minority neighborhoods; not true, many gentrified neighborhoods are white or mixed race. Notable gentrified neighborhoods include SoHo, Darien Street, and Metro Atlanta. A notable fictional example is SoDoSoPa from South Park.
Person 1: I love all the great new shopping districts here! Isn't it simply divine? Gentrification made this place so great!

Person 2: No, I hate it because the gentrification means I can't pay my rent and have to move to Compton.

I'm hoping this is one of those things that we have to suffer through "for the greater good". Like the way the FX series laid the seeds for later greatness.

Keep an eye on the race by the tech giants for quantum computer supremacy. Games will benefit a lot since like Vegeta we need more power. Especially for elder scrolls 20 so NPC don't get stuck on things.
The stuff we use today is too primitive and we are progressing at snail's pace. In back to the future 2 we were supposed to have the hovering skateboards and holograms and we only see the hologram stuff now in concerts. That shit should have been in our homes as consumer product by now where every horny teenager can have their own Cortana nude in their bedroom talking dirty to them and pole dancing like the stuff in blade runner sequel. IT's because of greedy guys. They are akin to the energy company that doesn't like free energy (ie solar power) because it means cheap access to something that you can't tax and also the pharmaceutical company which is trying to ban alternative health products or herbs which are much cheaper than buying overpriced drugs which fuck up your organs. The motive of all companies (pharmacologists) is kill any obstacle that can act as cheap alternative if it can't be patented or owned by you to block access to it. Eg vitamns being banned by the UN on purpose so people can get sick and have to buy the drug instead of just turn to nutrition. It's why the elite can ban drugs if it doesn't come from them (even have agents bust you for something that does no harm to you or others) but when it's expensive and illegal on the black market, they are ok with that because they are the ones selling it illegally since they are the ones supplying it. Without the public knowledge that they are the ones profiting from it of course. The profits then go to research into secret black budget stuff like stealth planes and other shit to oppress the masses using the best tech. Sort of like the Wakandans in Black Panther. They live in luxury while everyone else is suffering. At some point the eggheads who work for them spill the beans when they figure the time is right to free the society and you get guys like snoden. (It's why you must always invest in good security of your information so the NSA can't snatch your ideas and use it for evil BTW)

from what I've herd, it only works on AMD systems with a "Raven Ridge" CPU installed, and you need your motherboard hooked up to the monitor via DisplayPort, even if you're not using its video out.

So you know, a massive fuck-around that will only work on low-to-mid tier systems.

It's not fair to say that. The PC always gets the best version and the one you can mod. If you want quality you need to wait. It's just like with nintendo games and delays of their biggest flagship titles. I would rather wait then it be rushed to market.
In the short term it hurts but in the long term people will remember you for it (See my quote from shigeru miyamoto) because heart and soul was put into the project.

EA method is to do a quickie port and not take pride in the quality of the games. The consoles got lazy version of Dragon Age 1 which was the best game in the franchise. So the peasants suffer too. You just choose to ignore it. The money is made from the console crowd who overpay, then the pc edition comes out(easier to pirate so less money is made) and by the time you guys get your version they have made enough money from console owners to weather the cost from loss of sales from the pirates to keep gaming epic and large.

Remember witcher3? CDPR mentioned that by targetting peasants the game could be a big open world instead of linear game. Think about it from a business perspective. It also means a portion of console gamers will double dip if they wish to play the best version on pc which allows mods. That means almost double the sales. It's done on purpose. But it has positive effects too. (more stability because they can focus all their energy on optimisation for the platform they are working on for instance, while not worrying about a buggy mess. The rushed games always become buggy messes and suffer from poor optimisation. See Monster Hunter World lol It hurts the reputation of a game if the launch is bad. Patience is a virtue.)

Saw this on Era.

Sunset Overdrive make its way to PC!
The Entertainment Software Rating Board (ESRB) has rated the Insomniac Games-developed open-world action adventure game Sunset Overdrive for PC.

The new rating follows a PC rating from the Game Rating and Administration Committee of Korea back in May.

Read more at https://gematsu.com/2018/11/esrb-rates- ... 4VdQXls.99" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
This is a third-person shooter in which players assume the role of a young survivor battling through a mutant apocalypse. As players traverse the open-world of Sunset City, they use assault rifles and fantastical weapons (e.g., grenade launchers that shoot teddy-bear bombs, guns that shoot fireworks) to kill mutant creatures, robots, and occasional human enemies. Combat is highlighted by frequent explosions, screams of pain, and gunfire. Some explosives cause enemies to be dismembered, leaving limbs around the environment; one cutscene briefly depicts a character’s head cut off by a mutant. During the course of the game, characters and environmental elements reference sexual behavior or humor (e.g., “Oh, such a bold statement! It says, ‘I am a prostitute!’” and “How hard was it to make a porn flip book?” ); a radio ad contains a running joke about a sex burger (e.g., “It’s so good you won’t be able to contain your urges to rub it all over your Sex…Burger”). The dialogue contains a handful of drug references (e.g., “You guys have been eating weed” and “Oh, when I get back with your drugs, we’ll discuss my offense at your assumption that I would know where to find drugs”). The words “f**k” and “sh*t” also appear in dialogue.

Surprising, especially since they never made a 4k patch for the game on X. I figured insomniac just moved on.
