The 1080 really is 20% faster than a TitanX, this doesn't factor in the huge overclock potential of the chip too, very impressive, the jump from a 970 is huge, going to be an excellent upgrade.

In other news, AMD might be in a bit of strife with Polaris, the rumor is it failed validation and it's delayed to October now, partners have also confirmed it's a 390 level performance which is a bit meh. It also puts into doubt ps4k coming this year since it would be impacted by the same issues. I feel sorry for AMD, focusing on console contracts has destroyed the competitiveness of their GPU business, nvidia is destroying them.

Only a fool would have an AMD-powered PC.

NV have been clear top dogs for some time.

Also, everyone buy Doom. It's fucking brilliant. Runs 60fps at 1080p on ultra on my 980. Looks great. Plays like traditional Doom. Great level design. Really well done.

It all went downhill for them once they focused on console contracts. 3-4 years ago they had the fastest card on the block with the 7970, won the console contracts and they lost their focus in the PC space. The console contracts failed to make meaningful impact on their balance sheet and their engineer resources were stretched, causing them to fall behind a heavily PC focused nvidia.

Also latest NPD shows a big 23% drop in console hardware sales.

April retail game sales are down 15% year over year.

Hardware was down 23% year over year.

Retail game sales were down 21% year over year.
The console industry really is contracting and not growing, we've lost the causal gamer somewhere along the way.

NV are reaping the benefits of a focused approach to their business.

Can't wait to ditch this cruddy 980Ti and get a 1080!

I've already got a buyer lined up but if it falls through it's yours.

I'm getting a 1080 as soon as humanly possible.

I'm at this point in my life where I don't give a fuck about cost, just give me the best shit possible. Will chuck an i7 CPU and 1-2 more big SSDs in here as well. YOLO

It's all good. I'm holding off now until Cannonlake and Volta before upgrading system wide. That said, my next big purchase with be a new Gsync monitor next year.

Yep, doing a smaller cheap second budget build around the 760 for when I'm out at work so the BenQ will suit that card nicely. Thinking of going all in on an X34. No comprises gaming rocks

http://www.eteknix.com/amd-debunks-rece ... e-rumours/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
we’ve received clarification from AMD’s Northern Europe PR and Community Manager, Joe Cowell about a number of recent criticisms. Firstly, AMD will be attending Computex and this was never in doubt. It’s important to remember that AMD always lists their attendance for trade shows in a clear and transparent manner. Secondly, there are no production issues whatsoever with Polaris and it’s on schedule. This means our report suggesting AIB partners were unhappy with AMD is completely false and based on incorrect sources.
Polaris delay rumor is false, still meant to be shown at computex trade show, we'll see what happens. AMD desperately need some wins on the board.

I think much of that might be due to the fact that Nintendo recently announced no more Wiiu production and announce release date of NX. Sony unofficially announced Neo coming soon, and strong rumours of Microsoft releasing an upgraded/slim xbone soon could be stopping potential new console owners.

I'd definitely put the cards through a water loop at those clocks. Really looking forward to downloading Forza when I get back. Played it on a friend's pc here, really enjoyed it.

The Master Race is generous. Received a 16gig DDR3 RAM kit for $45 from a friend and a free Fractal Kelvin S24 AIO CPU cooler from another, barely been used before he upgraded to a custom water loop. Been a good week. Looking forward to getting rid of the stock cooler I've been using for the past 3 years.
