http://videocardz.com/60574/nvidia-gefo ... 70-reviews" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
GTX 1070 reviews are out, basically it's 980ti~TitanX performance for $379~449. Overclocking and heat are very similar to the 1080(~2000mhz core/80c).
Still undecided if I should go a 1080 or maybe get a 1070 to tide me over until the 1080Ti hits.

Re: Master Race gaming thread
DX12 numbers are interesting, showing bigger gains over maxwell parts. Nvidia just destroyed any reason to ever buy anything else right now in the mid-high end segment.

Good news seeing oems charge more reasonable prices for better product than the offensive "founders edition" BS."Asus said the Strix GTX 1080 carries an MSRP of $619.99, and the Strix GTX 1080 OC sell for $639.99. Both cards will be available on June 4."

Yep that's the one I've got my eye on. Released later this week in the US (3rd June)lestat wrote:The asus 1080 ROG is looking like the card to get.

Re: Master Race gaming thread
I can't believe gigabyte released their 1080 with only a single 8pin power connector. Gigabyte cards were always great overclockers because they had excellent power limits/vrms and a cooler that covered the vrms.
I saw a video of the strix pulled apart, their cooler covers all the vrms, has memory heatspreaders, should do an amazing job of keeping everything cool. We just need some confirmation you can tap that full 300w power limit, current 1080 cards/bios limits it to 225w.

Gigabyte will no doubt release an Extreme version or put all their eggs into the Ti versions like they did with the 980.

I guess the infancy of the 16nm process is showing growing pains here or nvidia already pushed clocks much harder than we first thought.First table shows factory overclocking when TDP limit has priority and when temperature limit has priority
This chart shows overclocking results, with poor 48 MHz better results over factory performance.
That said ComputerBase confirmed the rumors from PCGamesHardware. Extreme overclocking on STRIX GTX 1080 is poor. All cards are locked to 1.25V maximum, and when the voltages gets close this value, cards become unstable. Neither bypassing VRM controller or removing TDP limit has made any difference. However once LN2 is in action, the clock frequency can to up to 2400 MHz.
Either way, the chase of mysterious 2.114 GHz clock advertised by NVIDIA has still not found its conclusion, even on this custom card.
Memory overclocking is a different story. There is no problem achieving 5600 MHz clock (11.2 GHz effective), but the GPU Tweak tool has an error showing lower clock, so some caution is advised.
I recommend that you check the link below for more information (like temperature and noise test).

1070 looks appetising. Will wait for that to come out before I upgrade.

First review of the MSI 1080, they were only able to get it up to 1948mhz. Pascal is proving to be a poor overclocker, I think nvidia ate into the overclocking headroom with higher stock clocks to give a big enough reason for 980Ti users to upgrade. The gap between a 980Ti overclocked and 1080Ti overclocked is only around 10-15%.

OZ prices
OZ prices
Update: I’ve been told that, provided the exchange rate holds firm, users can expect to pay around $799 for the GTX 1070 Founders Edition when it launches. Don’t know what the full range of boards will be like, but we’ll have more info on that when it’s available.
Re: Master Race gaming thread
Damn, that is stupid expensive. I'd be waiting for demand to cool and 3rd party options before committing.

So green man gaming has the rise of tomb raider for $59.99. Is that USD or AUD?

It's always USD. $47 AUD through CD Keys. Had a good buying experience with them.

Cool, I've give cdkeys a go. Thanks.
Have you got a link to the page, it's not showing $47.
My bad, went to the wrong cdkeys website.

Re: Master Race gaming thread
Yeah I'm probably looking to get my card from amazon this time. We're being bent over here. $450US translating to $800AU with a 0.72 exchange is just ridiculous in my books, there is a good $100 markup even including GST.Rorschach wrote:Damn, that is stupid expensive. It would be nice if the AUD edges up a bit, that way I can get a 1080 from amazon and not get hit with GST on the way in, right now it just edges over $1k for an evga 1080 FTW($679), prices just went up for evga cards.

I ordered the EVGA 1080 SC from Amazon US $968AUD. No ETA though. " onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Will still keep an eye out for the Asus on locally. But I think that's as cheap as you'll get this early.

5.5tf for $200us.
Crossfire 480 setup faster than 1080 for $400. Each card uses a single 6pin, so under 150w each card.
We'll have solid details in a few hours, but AMD might have a winner here.
