It's either a bad power supply or bad cmos bios settings.

Most motherboards have a bios jumper or bios reset switch, try that first and see if the PC will boot up after doing a reset to defaults.

If it's still not booting, well this where life with PCs is fucked, because it comes down to trial and error trying to find out what component in your system is toast.

Most motherboards these days have a 2 digit debug LED readout on the mobo, that will usually tell you a code that you can refer to the user manual and see what component if failing when the PC is trying to post.

Or just kick your computer and give up rather than call an expert for advice on what might be a simple fix

I've had issues on both platforms, at least with a PC you can repair them easy enough with a little bit of effort and logic.

Start with BIOS. Check your boot order and make sure devices are still listed. Any beeping? Beep patterns matter and will indicate where the problem is eg: motherboard, GPU, etc. Try alternating your memory sticks to determine if one causing the problem. Do you have a usb stick plugged in anywhere? If yes, remove. Master Race fo’ life yo.

So what if jizzlobber kicked his PC? :?

Leave the poor guy alone. It's not his fault that he's a bogan from Wollongong and doesn't know any better! :(

The most serious PC issue I've ever had was when it wouldn't boot up when I had to print out my Honours thesis. Worst timing ever but it was the boot-up light sequence that told me it was a dodgy stick of RAM. I took one out (the dodgy one just happened to be the first one I tried) and it booted up fine.

Much easier fix than the red ring of death on my (everyone's?) OG 360 :)

I had issues where there was signal attenuation going from the PC to the TV across a 10m HDMI cable run, so rather than kicking it and going back to consoles I did some homework, bought a 10m HDMI cable that guarantees no signal loss with 4K 60Hz and have since been enjoying flawless 4K 60fps (and in some cases HDR) PC gaming on my TV with an XBONE controller.

It's not quite the RROD or gimped 30fps gaming but it'll do

Don't get me wrong, I'd at least try to get it fixed if PC gaming was worth the effort, but it isn't.

If your PC is outputting games around the same "quality" as current consoles, it 100% isn't worth it.

Yeah its similar, I get more frames at 1080p... Forza horizon 3 and destiny 2 beta were 60fps for me.

Hooking it up to my TV is inconvenient however, and the steam streaming box is crap.

Boom. No point playing PC games at 1080p when you have an X.

Yeah, rig is looking tired. The CPU especially. If you've got an Xbox X then problem solved.

CPU has to be better than what's in the X ;)
I'm digging my X but still struggles to stay at 60fps in most enhanced games, even those with performance mode.

GPU upgrade would fix that straight away, a 1070 would do it, but you'd still need to identify the hardware issue. That said, you've already got the Xbone X
