Haven't seen anyone mention this so far but sounds quite epic. Here's the cut n paste from Wikipedia.

No Man's Sky is an upcoming science fiction video game developed and published by Hello Games . It will feature a procedurally generated open universe in the style of Elite .[1][2][3][4] The game will debut on the PlayStation 4 , as highlighted during Sony's press event at the Electronic Entertainment Expo 2014 , while Hello Games have left the option of bringing the game to other platforms open. [5][6]

Announced at VGX 2013 alongside a trailer, the game is seen to feature planetary exploration, deep oceans, space-based battles, and potential predators on the various procedurally-generated worlds. Each world has its own ecosystem with potentially unforgiving conditions, such as desert worlds with large carnivorous worms. [7][8]
Players are initially given a totally uncharted universe to explore, where information about any planet's characteristics and lifeforms may be shared and updated with others. [9]

Reception
Dave Lee of BBC News felt that the game "stole the show" at the E3 2014 conference.

The only reason you are excited by it is because it's on ps4 right?

If it was on wii u, people would ignore it despite the fact the touchscreen could allow you to see a bird's eye view of what's below your ship to do a bombing run.

Star fox is better. Hopefully shigeru miyamoto will clone this game's ideas for the next one. His version will let you enter tanks, go on foot to fight in underground bases, enter submarines to explore the oceans, and fight giant monsters and there will be no need to have to go online since you can use animal crossing style codes to trade fruit/weapons/energy supplies, biological weapons like aliens and other dangerous materials with other players so if the internet ever collapses due to an EMP from a nuclear bomb attack on your city, you can still play in peace and have privacy.

This game will be either completely, utterly, epically brilliant, or just plain mediocre (at best). if it's the former, it'll be a system seller for the PS4.
