Unreal, it gave me shivers bro. Shivers.

(and I don't even like Shenmue)

It's so weird to see that 'Sega' style of character design again.

Holy shit. I knew they'd eventually give us this. You have to contribute sega fans otherwise you will never see it made.

Next up Streets of Rage reboot as an indie game. (like yooka laylee)

I personally wish it was a nintendo-sega collaboration where you would have all 3 games ported to wii u. But this will do.

If you are a fan of the Yakuza games, you should be giving this man the money to make his final chapter. I'm surprised microsoft won't give him all the money he needs, and instead of support from the giants he needs to beg gamefans around the world. Just goes to show you how little respect big platform manufacturers have for these legends.
Everyone who whines and moans needs to put their money where their mouth is.

Maybe one day sega will be encouraged to go back into hardware and give us a dreamcast 2 through kickstarter funding like the ouya.

I'm curious how they are going to make this on a 2m budget when the original games cost 70m+ to make.

They must be getting funding from elsewhere?

Possibly, but using UE4 they've got support for physically based rendering.

Of course. There would be someone telling him to prove it that people want this. Unless it's a small scale game it seems like Kickstarter is best these days for proving some amount of consumer intent, or at least a bare minimum to move forward on for some more serious funding.

There's no way he'll be able to spend the same amount of money on Shenmue 3 as he did on the original. He'll get a lot more than $2 million, but I bet he'll still have to make this on a far tighter budget than the original.

Exactly, you can still play it on PC. It's not it's exclusive to one platform. I wish they didn't skip xbox one though, don't really know why, possible sony moneyhats.

I'd be inclined to say that a lot of the work/framework is already done.. I mean one example is that I bet there won't be much need for additional music for the game.. the soundtrack that was released should handle that plus the music from Shenmue online should help fill the gaps.

I'm sure there are other parts that could help.. PLUS I wonder if they'll open up some voice acting roles to kick starters..

I don't give a fuck. Let Yu Suzuki take 10 years to make it. That it's being made at all is amazing. Hope he does take his time.

Don't want all of the pent up hopes to be for some rushed piece of shit that underwhelms.

They should just let the graphics be only as good as what a sega dreamcast could perform.

Much like megaman 9 was only as good as NES. It would cost too much to make it as detailed as modern big budget games wouldn't it?

You guys play retro titles like Shovel Knight, rogue Legacy, and old sega arcade games on the 3ds like outrun correct? Why should we expect massive upgrade in visuals? This is just to conclude the original game trilogy for fans of the old games. Like Terminator 2 was for terminator 1 but T2 couldn't be made for ages because technology had not yet allowed it to be done. (it would have been made close to T1 otherwise)

In the case of Shenmue 3 it isn't the technology that held it off from being made but funding. So we shouldn't really expect such great graphics. After all look at the faces in games like Xenoblade lol People are tolerant of shit graphics otherwise last gen would not have lasted so long and Bethesda would have gone belly up with the look of their characters and animations by now. (you still see stiff combat and bugs ffs)

When they make sequel to Wasteland nobody expects modern big budget visuals. But when shenmue sequel is done people want 2015 visuals? Come on, I think that's being unfair.
World of Warcraft and monster hunter have some ugly visuals. But fans don't care. Same with the souls games.

$1mil raised in less than a couple hours. Fastest Kickstarter ever for a fucking 14 year old Dreamcast game sequel.

Amazing.
