New rumors about Microsoft's gaming plans for Windows 10 claim that the company is planning to release a version of its Xbox One racing sim Forza Motorsport 6 for the PC OS as an exclusive for the Windows Store.

According to WPDang, this is all part of Microsoft's strategy to beef up its Windows 10 game efforts, with the Windows Store as the exclusive outlet. In addition to Forza Motorsport 6, the site claims, via unnamed sources, that Gears of War 4 might also be released for Windows 10 in addition to Xbox One, along with Scalebound. It also mentions a previously unannounced game, Forza Horizon 3, as coming to both Xbox O

Forza 6 at 4K.

If they allow online cross play with xbox one then yeah not much reason to keep an xbone. I'm excited about it.

Also the prospect for wheel setups on PC are so much better than officially licensed wheels available for bone right now.

This is why I'm looking forward to KI on PC, I never had a xbone compatible stick but have a few 360 sticks around which work perfect on PC.

Not if you've grown up a PC gamer where modding is an ingrained part of the culture going back to the very beginning. Team Fortress, Counterstrike, Battlefield 2, pretty much everything good in the Elder Scrolls series, common game modes like Capture the Flag etc. All originate from mods, and from developers (like id) that designed their games in a way that deliberately encouraged modding and experimentation.

Another example why consoles have fucked things up for everyone

They would have to lock it down and use some form of DRM to make it difficult/impossible for hackers to ruin online play if they're doing cross play.

Looks like denuvo has kept Tomb Raider protected, no cracks, seems like this vm code morphing style protection really is making life extremely hard for hackers.

This probably explains why MS is confident in releasing PC release simultaneously with console releases now, the piracy problems aren't a problem now.

Quantum Break 720p?

Digital Foundry analyst

Uncharted 4 may be PlayStation 4's showstopper, but it's Quantum Break leading the charge for Xbox One. Blending cinematic third-person action with live action segments, Remedy's latest title is a coming to fruition of Microsoft's original plan to converge TV and video game content into one package.
In fact, nailing down resolution proves rather difficult, due in part to how various elements on screen are rendered. Based on Remedy's own Siggraph 2015 white paper, we understand screen-space lighting, ambient occlusion, and global illumination pipelines are all handled at 1280x720 on Xbox One in order to budget for a 33.3ms render-time.

Curiously, the paper also states Xbox One's final output is 1920x1080, and that's where there is some confusion - as we've yet to see evidence of full HD 1080p gameplay in close analysis - barring the title's HUD elements and menus. In every scene tested so far, a native resolution of 720p is the consistent result found in each pixel count test - so while there's every possibility of individual render targets operating at higher resolutions, basic geometry that we're able to measure hands in a 720p result as things stand.

So this is a Windows 10 game right? PC version could have issues like Gears Of War Ultimate.
I suggest a title change to Quantum Broke :D
DF article snippet from gaf on GOW.
Frame-pacing that cannot be fixed: Once in the game, it's clear that Gears Ultimate suffers from frame-pacing issues when the frame-rate cap is engaged. Why engage the cap at all, you may ask? Well, despite running well on relatively low-power Xbox One hardware, this is one demanding game on PC - an overclocked i7 5820K/GTX 970 combo simply isn't enough to deliver a completely stable 60fps at 1080p, let alone 1440p and higher. That's where the 30fps cap comes in handy - in theory, it should allow you to ramp up the quality settings and still get a consistent experience. In fact, it is actually the default setting here but this particular implementation doesn't quite work as we'd hope. We often see unique and duplicate frames clustered together out of order resulting in noticeable judder - something you don't see on Xbox One.
Universal Windows Platform: Tying directly into our previous issue, we have Microsoft's controversial UWP initiative. Basically, UWP programs lack support for exclusive full-screen (meaning it's impossible to turn off v-sync - something Microsoft is working on) and are unable to take advantage of third party tools such as Riva Tuner Statistics Server. The Windows format container eliminates the possibility for user-created mods, also making it incredibly difficult to make adjustments and fixes to the title outside of the game. Also, title availability is limited to the Window 10 Marketplace - which currently has no wording in place to suggest that software purchased through this store will remain available in perpetuity.

When taken together, you're looking at something closer to a console game than a proper PC game without the guarantee that you'll be able to play it years down the road - a sticky point for us when considering that any games purchased through the now defunct "Games for Windows Marketplace" are no longer available for download. When you encounter issues with a game - and we certainly did - it suddenly becomes dramatically more difficult or impossible to work around them thanks to UWP. Once again, it's clear that The Coalition can only do so much within the UWP environment but we certainly hope that user complaints resonate with the right individuals in order to enact a change here. We're all for more choice in the PC space, but as things stand right now, the UWP set-up is actually taking away options from PC gamers.

Quantum Break’s 1080p output is a temporal reconstruction from four previous 720p 4xMSAA frames. This approach gets us high pixel quality in combination with complex shading and effects, allowing us to achieve a cinematic look. However, varying sample counts between passes and temporal upscaling makes talking about resolution, as it is traditionally understood, complicated in the case of Quantum Break. Since the start of “Quantum Break’s” development, the most important thing for Remedy and Microsoft has been delivering a compelling gaming experience with superior artistic quality. This is what Remedy is renowned for. We’re confident that we have achieved this, and can’t wait to hear what fans think on April 5 when they play the game.
From Remedy on the matter.

Looks like it, probably doing some type of 4xMSAA jittered pixel rendering instead of an interlaced approach like KZ:SF.

Of course the Jittered pixel approach will give better results on static parts of the scene, as motion is introduced there will be a degree of blur.

Curious what the PC build will do?
