Wii U Zelda immediately installs probably the last update my Wii U will ever get.

Re: The Official Nintendo Switch Thread
Switch seems pretty good. I was expecting small, but it is smaller and lighter than I expected. Setup was super easy.
The joycons are really light in the hands.
There are a couple of minor annoyances with the Joycons. They are uncomfortable, and at 3 meters away, I definitely experienced the weak signal loss, but it really didn't feel like that big of a deal to me.
Once I put it in the joycon grip, the signal loss strangely disappeared - I suspect because my hands weren't gripping around the front of them any more. Still uncomfortable but a little better.
I have a pro controller, but it's been sitting in a separate area charging up. It's all charged up now, so I look forward to trying it this afternoon.
I've played Zelda for about four hours. I'm not sure which I prefer out of Zelda or Horizon ZD. I have so far to go on both. I'd give the slight edge to Horizon at this point just because it has a more interesting and unique opening.
In Zelda there is clearly some minor frame rate issues when there is a lot of grass or fire, but it didn't bother me. I even saw a slight screen tear at one point.
But the world is superb, and seems overwhelmingly vast.

Re: The Official Nintendo Switch Thread
At first I thought the Wii U had a superior frame rate to the Switch, but then I realised my TVs 200Hz inbetweening mode was ON for that HDMI port.
The Wii U version is noticeably muddier and slower.
But both systems now look fantastic in 200Hz mode.

Thanks to Jasper and he's marketing. I just couldn't get it out of my head ' best game ever created , ' 98 metacritic, all those quotes with all the import things underlined. I haven't even opened it yet because I'm still warming myself up.
I think I need to register for a Nintendo acccount again. I will post my morse code later on.
Update. Well it won't detect my router. Sigh.
Update 2: managed to get it connected after changing some router settings encryption. Still have to enter everything manually. But now can't download the system update, says cannot communicate with server.

Re: The Official Nintendo Switch Thread
Wii U version technical dramas have been overblown obviously to drum up more Switch sales.
Apart from a few drops (literally 3 in the first 3 hours) it's a solid 30fps.
You can see it's a 720p game, on my 1080p BenQ it looks like every other Wii U game...just INCREDIBLE artistically.
The visual design is brilliant as it largely offsets technical limitations.
It's not Witcher 3 in 4K but it ain't ugly.
I'm yet to discover anything revolutionary but as a Zelda game from Nintendo it's clear right away this game is special.

I'd say Wii U owners are only paying for a Switch if they MUST throw money at Nintendo.

Think I need to invest in a pro controller. The joycrap controllers using the grip doesn't feel right.
I haven't actually played a game yet, but I will see how they perform.

Jasper won't tell me how the other launch games are? Anyone got any impressions on the rest of the launch titles?

OMG. I'm starting Zelda. Only 2hrs worth of trouble shooting, but it's done.
There's no way I'm being in public with one of these. Ugh, looks hideous and big.

Re: The Official Nintendo Switch Thread
Fucked if I know, I didn't spend a cent on a Switch nor do I plan to until the fire sales.
On Wii U I put the disc in, it updated and installed...and I started playing.
Is this the part where we discover the Wii U works better than the Switch? Fucking Nintendo

Found my friend code.
SW-5780-6559-5884.
The thing is, there's no way to add friends on the switch from my knowledge. Why did Nintendo take out such a basic function?
My bad, you can add friends, just had to click on my profile to bring up my page.

Spot on. It was night and day for me. Playing all morning on the joy cons. At first by themselves, then later with the grip.flipswitch wrote:Think I need to invest in a pro controller. The joycrap controllers using the grip doesn't feel right.
After lunch my Pro was fully charged, and I was smiling 10 minutes in. Night and day, felt a million times better with the pro controller. Everything way more natural.

Re: The Official Nintendo Switch Thread
Played maybe 1hr 30mins at most of Zelda but it's growing on my and it's paced very well, has a lot of charm and I like the dialogue. I think I'm going to sink a lot of time into this one ( let's face it not much else to play). I'm not a Zelda player, I've only really played some of OOT on 3DS and maybe something on GBA, so this is kind of a new experience.
Back to the switch console.
Finally found a place for it. You need like 15cm of vertical space above it to put the tablet in.
What I really like is if you're playing in tv mode( on the tv using a controller) the tablet sits in the dock and charges, so when you're finished playing on the tv, you can then play it in portable mode and it will be charged.
I tried playing on portable mode and the visuals look great and more sharper than on tv. Then you can use the stand on the switch tablet and have like a portable tv using the joycon controller. This really blew my mind. There's so many ways to play.
Overall I'm pleased with my purchase. One other great thing is it's completely silent ( or I'm going deaf).

Anyone pick up any other Switch games? I have ZELDA BOTW, thinking Fast RMX or finally bite the bullet on Shovel Knight...
