After a recent spending spree on the eShop I finally had cause to expand the memory in my Switch... Bought a 256GB Samsung EVO blah blah MicroSD. I've got to say, the memory management (or lack thereof) is really weird, and is the first bad experience I've had with the platform.

My expectation was that I'd pop in the MicroSD card, select my games from a list and transfer them to the card. Nope. Screenshots and videos can be freely moved between the internal storage and the card, save files are always saved to the internal storage and can not be moved, and games themselves have to be deleted and redownloaded to "move" them to the card. What the fuck?

I guess the right way to look at it is "I had 32GB of storage, now I have 288GB" and forget about the inner workings... but it still seems weird to me. Anyway, it's pretty sweet having practically every game I've bought for the thing built-in and ready to go at the drop of a hat. This might actually be my favourite console evar.

It's my fav Nintendo console ever outside of the SNES. Easily the best console this gen, but that's also coming with the caveat that I own a monster PC.

Realised how bad the joycons are on the switch. Been stuck on the polar bear boss in tropical freeze for months. Gave up on it. Went back it today and still couldn't get past him. Had bought a pro controller since then. Tried that. Beat him first go with full health.

The joycons feel unresponsive and laggy. Pretty bad if the default control scheme prevents you from progressing. I'm sure there are plenty who've had no problem.

I'm very tempted to buy a Switch for Super Mario Maker 2.. and nothing else.

Its final major update just dropped and it's a pretty big one. Still no Amibos or the ability to download courses like in SMM1, but some notable additions... well, better to watch the trailer:

Just a heads up:
If you’ve been using a Nintendo Network ID (NNID) to log into your Nintendo account, you may have noticed some issues logging into your Nintendo account this week.
Nintendo is disabling the ability to log into your Nintendo Account through a Nintendo Network ID (NNID) after 160,000 of those accounts were compromised in a recent attack. You might have an NNID from the Wii U or 3DS.
If you haven’t already.

You Should Set Up Two-Step Verification On Your Nintendo Account Right Now.

Nintendo selling ARMS off. Wasn’t their best franchise.

The recent EB Games sale was a Switch goldmine. Picked up the following for the backlog:

Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Bayonetta 2
Collection of Mana
Fire Emblem Three Houses

Sorted for when I am away from home for courses.
ANATHEMATIC ILLIMITED, TRANSFATAL EXPRESS, VIRAL INCORPORATED, INTERNATIONAL EPIDEMICS & MENSTRUAL MOTORCYCLES.

Well, I've been saying this for years. Pokemon is perfect for a MOBA.

BOOM!

Also, Mr Driller Drill Land remaster came out today.
I've already picked it up and first impressions are awesome.
Nice relief from the murder simulator.

Still a little spun out about this title.

I really really enjoyed the Gamecube import, played a lot of the 4 player mode with friends and single player had a lot of variety as well. I thought it had a really amazing soundtrack too, like, unusually orchestral and moving at times for something that I thought would be JPOP laden.

I know there is a demo available so I'll definitely check that out but thought that $30 was a bit steep to jump on immediately, will hold out for a sale hopefully won't be waiting too long.

Dunno if you saw it in the review the last game thread, but I called it the ultimate Mr Driller experience.
Mr Driller Drill Land

I absolutely love me some Mr Driller.
I poured an insane amount of time into Mr Driller Drill Spirits on the DS.
When this was announced on the mini direct in March, I was pumped. It's a shame this franchise is so over looked and under appreciated.

Anyhow, this is a remaster of the game of the same name that was a Japan only GameCube release in 2002, so I'm absolutely wrapped that it got this re-release and I get an opportunity to play it. Even more so because of how awesome it is.

The Drill Land World Tour is a flawless version of classic Mr Driller, complimented by four absolutely fantastic variant modes.
The soundtrack is fantastic.
This is on Steam aswell, so don't sleep on this one if you're Switchless and curious.

Dr Manhole (yes, really that's his name lol), GTFO outta here!
Bamco on a roll lately.
This is without question the ultimate Mr Driller experience.

8/10

I did not see your review my friend, I kind of dropped of the ranch for the last year or so due to some personal life insanity and am having a bit of a leaf through the threads again recently, nice to see most of the crew still kicking on. Can't say I'm sad to see Rocco has evaporated though ;-)

I guess I shouldn't be too surprised you enjoyed Mr. Driller, I feel like albeit with some outliers we have had pretty similar tastes in games over the years - though I definitely can't hide my bias/love for PlatinumGames where I think your opinion of them has soured or not quite met expectations. The Wonderful 101 kickstarter fiasco hurt things a bit for me though, I backed only a digital version so it went as smoothly as but it could for me - but it was painful to see them shitting on their biggest and most loyal fans through lack of communication, heavy delays, and only a paltry effort at a "Remaster".

Anyhoo, damn, you've jacked my keenness significantly on Mr. Driller, I know exactly what I'm in for but damned is someone else's enthusiasm isn't infectious.. I'm still going to try and hold off buying right this moment but it's at the top of my eshop wishlist!

Still got that Gamecube copy though!

Man, who needs the remake when you've got the awesome original?
You're right about the alignment of game tastes though.
I know for sure when t0mby says get a game, I listen.
Even back listening to golden years of GiantBomb, I knew my tastes more aligned to Brad and Jeff than Vinnie or Ryan.

Yeah, I'm off the Platinum bandwagon.
I miss Rocco. Come on Candy or maybe Lepo? - fire it back up! :D

I think much of Rocco's personal struggle in life is realising that he's not the biggest Nintendo fan on a forum that has a heavy lean towards the Xbox

I miss him too.
I would read 20-30% of his stuff. Even I couldn't take the really crazy stuff though (unless it was still entertaining me).
I'm probably leading the ranch by a considerable margin on that.

Funny, I was digging into some old posts earlier in the week.
I know we've talked about it before, but I do miss a lot of our departed members.
We had a 5 page thread about Tatsunoko V Capcom ffs. Started by rocco too.

Haha, who is the intended audience? How many Animal Crossing fans are also the same kind of people putting up political signs in their yard? Maybe I'm out of touch but it just screams trying too hard.

Nintendo actually announced new games today. They're re-releases of old games but that's new games for Nintendo.

BOTW2 will be next gen guaranteed.

They really like to punish their customers. Oh you didn't buy our console last time? Well now you're only getting ports suckers!
