Some people have been getting it dirt cheap thanks to a target pricing error, not sure if it's still happening but it's worth googling.

First car pack is already out *sigh*
Does look like a good update though; looks to address the stuttering issue :nana:
Today we launched the latest content update for Forza Horizon 3 on both Xbox One and Windows 10. In addition to a brand-new car pack – The Smoking Tire Car Pack – this latest update also includes numerous improvements for both the Xbox One and Windows 10 versions of Forza Horizon 3. These improvements include:

Windows 10
- Fixed a performance issue on Windows 10 that caused stuttering with high or unlocked framerates on certain hardware configurations
- Improved stability on Windows 10
- Disable mouse move detection while driving
- The Windows 10 video options screen will no longer ask users to save when no changes have been made
- Additional options have been added to the Windows 10 Advanced Controller Menu. These include:
o Steering wheel sensitivity
o Invert Force Feedback
o Centre spring scale
o Damping scale
- Fixed a problem where pre-order cars and the Halo Warthog were not appearing in the Windows 10 version of the game for some players

Wheel Improvements
- Logitech G27 is now registered correctly on Windows 10, so the correct default mapping will be applied
- All wheels with enough buttons have had the horn added to their default mappings on Windows 10
- Fix to dead zones for acceleration and braking axes on wheels
- Default mappings for all TX Racing Wheel variants
- Fixed a bug where custom input mappings would not save successfully

General Improvements
- The Social and Rivals tabs will now unlock for players with Xbox Live Silver accounts
- Fixed a bug where the racing line would sometimes disappear
- Controller hot swapping is now available. Players can switch between controllers/their keyboard whenever they choose (including the wheel)
- Various content fixes for cars

In addition to the fixes above arriving with today’s update, the teams at Playground and Turn 10 are working on addressing further known issues in Forza Horizon 3 including force feedback and wheel support, general stability and performance, and more. Look for more details on these improvements in the future. In the meantime, check the support forums for both the Xbox One and Windows 10 PC versions of Forza Horizon 3 for the latest list of Known Issues, as well as workarounds for select issues in the game.

They tried to fix it but made it worse, most PC gamers are claiming it has made the frame rate worse than before and my experience reflect this.

Before the update I was pretty much locked at 60fps all over the map apart from Byron and Surfers where I'd experience drops into the 50s and occasionally 40s.
Now I'm dropping into high 50s (which is very noticeable in this game) in the countryside and the city is a hanky mess constantly hovering in the 40s and dropping into the 30s.

I was happy before but I won't go back to it until it's fixed... its so much worse now.

Rors I'd imagine there'd still be windows store sales at Xmas, like the Xbox marketplace.

Yeah, I'm hoping. Really want to jump in and grab a copy. More than likely will grab it with a Scorpio next year

Ditto, that's what I'm waiting for before I get FH3, the Scorpio to release. It'll be my first Horizon game too since the first released when I moved the Adelaide all those years ago.

I'm currently going with 30fps locked on high/ultra. Feels better than the random spikes I'm getting trying to hit 60fps.

Will play around with the settings on the weekend when I have more time.

I'd probably rather play it at 30fps with high settings on PC.
But it looks soooo nice at 60fps so I'm hoping they will fix the problem, I'd rather hold off playing it till that happens.

Can't say there is a huge improvement for me with the latest patch, I'm finding running the game at high settings to be less stutter prone and enabling frame smoothing.

It still uses way too much cpu time and is probably the cause of the stuttering, constantly see all 4 cores hitting 100%. They need to optimise this, I seriously don't understand how they run this on xbone, the cpu in bone is around 1/3 the performance a desktop i5-7 quad core.

Easy - these first-party MS games are developed by incompetent people.

This will be the first and last game I buy through the Windows store. Steam, GOG or bust.

I'll wait for Steam versions from here on out - I read about Quantum Break in DX11 on Steam performing so much better than DX12 via Windows store.

Well Gears 4 seems to be running great on PC, but that was developed on an engine with better cross platform roots(UE4), also the team learned a lot of lessons with the Gears ultimate edition port, which went through many patches to get right.

I think the problem is the console exclusives devs design their games and engines around the oddities of the console, once they port that peculiar design to a PC, it just runs bad. Also the game code is probably chock full of hacks/system specific code that just doesn't work when ported.

Lets hope in future their teams develop their games with better foresight to run on other systems, with scropio they need to get comfortable writing software that scales better and runs better on better hardware.
