Re: Forza Horizon 3 incoming...
Some frustrating issues with the PC version VIP not working, my shifter isn't working. So I'm playing the pleb version with HDR until fixed.

Re: Forza Horizon 3 incoming...
If the Scorpio was out I'd get one just for this but I can wait. Not going to settle for an Xbone S, not worth it when we know they'll drop in price next year as MS phases them out.

Pre loading this now, looking forward to some Monday Night Racing
I don't have a 4k TV and I'm not planning on getting one anytime soon so I'd probably grab an S now. If I had a 4k screen I'd definitely be waiting.t0mby wrote:If the Scorpio was out I'd get one just for this but I can wait. Nah, definitely wait for Scorpio. If it was just going to be a 4K upgrade then I'd agree with pilon, but not all devs will go for the 4K res.

I have a 4K screen. So much superior than ghetto 1440p etc etc etc. [/Candy Farts]pilonv1 wrote:Pre loading this now, looking forward to some Monday Night Racing

Re: Forza Horizon 3 incoming...
This game is so good. Loved the first 2 but this is the better game. Seems like there's far more races and challenges. Obviously biased as it's set in oz but the location is perfect. I honestly don't know how they could've done any better. And those Aussie cars!!!!!

This has got me jelly about PC. How good does it look in 60fps?

Re: Forza Horizon 3 incoming...
There are lots of reports of people having issues with consistency trying to hit solid 60fps. Seems like the framerate really takes a dive when you head into the surfers.

Re: Forza Horizon 3 incoming...
Yep looks like it is cpu bound and struggling to stick with 60fps on a lot of rigs.
Can confirm an overclocked 2500k @4.3ghz won't cut it for 60fps.
So really I can go with 30fps on ultra everything at 1080p or 4k med/high which is quite nice.
Realistically I am just going to use the xbones for ease of use, silence and power bill.

Crap... Hope they sort this out, wanted to experience this at 60fps.
I've read turning shadows off is the only solution.

Just wait for a patch, should improve things. Or try the demo before buying it.

Re: Forza Horizon 3 incoming...
Yeah it's a shame I have a PC good enough to run it well (I would hope) yet I'm playing the Xbox version because of issues these issues plus VIP not working, no support for my shifter. It's still fantastic on Xbox especially with HDR it does look great. But my PC just sits there not being used when it should be.

Re: Forza Horizon 3 incoming...
If it's like Apex it's CPU bound. I have two cores at 100% and 2 doing nothing for my 3570k @ 4.2. Will see how Horizon goes tomorrow, hopefully its not too bad.General Chaos wrote:Yep looks like it is cpu bound and struggling to stick with 60fps on a lot of rigs.

DF doing some analysis on the stuttering, very weird results. Disappointing to say the least, seems to be a common issue appearing in lots of AAA titles recently(mostly console exclusives), you can hit 60fps but you get frame pacing/stutter drops.
I am curious what's really causing the problem, is it driver related or just a bottleneck in the PCIE memory management of video memory? Maybe it's console devs writing sloppy code that they can get away with at 30fps but it's just not acceptable to PC gamers who want 60fps.
Xbone is a 1.3TF box, GTX 1080 is 9TF. We shouldn't be seeing this.

I just checked, and your post mentioned nothing about "Forza Horizons".
Out of interest how does Forza Horizon 3 run on PS4?

Re: Forza Horizon 3 incoming...
Slight thread derailment but Mad Max at ultra 1440p is really awesome. Hoping Scorpio can push those resolutions

Re: Forza Horizon 3 incoming...
http://www.dsogaming.com/news/halo-5-fo ... px-format/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;Last month, it was revealed that Windows 10 would get a more secure encrypted appx format. And it appears that the first games protected by this new encryption tech are already available on Windows Store as both Halo 5: Forge and Forza Horizon 3 use it.
But let’s take things from the beginning. Via this new secure encrypted appx format, when the user installs an application from the Windows Store, it will get encrypted on-the-fly using the Encrypting File System feature of Windows.
Once encrypted, these application files will not be accessible for modification even if full access permissions are granted.
This basically means that PC gamers won’t be able to mod the games at all. For example, modding Forza 6: APEX’s weather was really simple via XML files. This modification, however, won’t work in Forza Horizon 3 due to this new encryption tech.
The good news – at least for developers – is that via this new tech, developers are now protected against applications getting decompiled and against piracy.
Hmm an open world game heavily dependent on streaming has to decrypt all the streamed data. Nice one.The reason of those stutters is the fact that the game uses EFS which consumes a lot of CPU.
