It's really stupid it's not coming to PC as well. Ah well.

I guess the best version will actually be on the X.
Just because it isn't announced that a pc version is coming is not the same as them saying there will be no pc version to come out ever.

This is just a way for them to milk the biggest PAYING userbase first to rake in the money to then later fund a from-the-ground-up port to pc where they take care to optimise the code for that platform after console version is done.

I like this idea better than simultaneous release because it means they are completely focused on the platforms rather than dividing their attention and doing half-assed job.

There are lazy ports (for example dragon age origins on console) and polish ports. (GTA V to PC, Pillars of Eternity to console).

We should encourage developers to take their time and make ports good rather than rushed and sloppy. This way everyone is happy rather than everyone being pissed due to lack of care shown for each platform in order to get it our fast. Since these types of games take like 5 years to do (much like the average zelda or elder scrolls game) they may as well do it well. They are rolling in money so it's not like they need to be in a rush to get it quickly to save the company from death like Capcom who forgot about megaman fans and making dragon dogma sequels and instead chose to make fighting games with no arcade modes included out of the box. If it weren't for Monster Hunter, capcom would probably be dead by now.

It kind of went under the radar. Just like news of Terminator getting rebooted news of last year.

Maybe it might be crap so nobody wants to hype it?

You missed the biggest worry factor for the new RDR. GTA 5 monetization is all about shark cards, buying money, and using that money for all sorts of things, cars, car modification, guns, rocket launchers, helicopters, planes, etc. Whether you liked this system or not, you have to a last admit that GTA5 lends itself fairly well to this type of monetization due to the fact that it's modern day and has so many options of things to buy.

So how on earth are they going to pull that off in red dead without ruining the game? They don't have tons of different guns to work with that are substantially different. weapon skins? that sound like a terrible idea due to the immersion breaking effect that would have on such a game. You have no cars to spend money on, so what are you going to do, pimp my horse? bulletproof hooves? Yea i don't see that working to well. Ok how about cosmetics, ok well all the cosmetics are going to have to match the time, im sure we can get some cool stuff but then again how many cowboy and indian costumes do you think they can really make that fit the scene and are substantially different enough to warrant wanting to spend money on them?

Point is there is nothing in RDR that lends it's self well to persistent online monetization. But they definitely want that. So they're going to force it in somehow and it won't be a fun time.
That's why it's sad Agents of Mayhem wasn't noticed.. What keeps PC alive is the modding of these open world titles to keep them relevent post release. The only weakness of a closed platform still. Think of all the cool porno mods for skyrim. This is why nintendo in order to survive long term needs a way to make closed system that allows for mods of major open world franchises if they wish to keep the older generation of gamers (30-40+ crowd who own pc) to keep buying their machines imo. Imagine a game like Zelda BOTW but with the "mario maker" style freedom to customise things (ie dungeons you design or islands you make off the world map?) Games like Minecraft and Roblox are popular for a reason: the ability to custom make shit. That isn't going away for a long time. It's here to stay. Far Cry 5 Arcade is taping into this type of player creativity. It's time for nintendo to start learning from pc scene.

Capcom got multi right with Monster Hunter World. Games that you can play single player but also great in multi with lot of depth for players drawn to titles that reward you for skill more than wallet size.

I'm really concerned because thats what happened to GTA V single player. Alot of those GTA Online Dlc were meant for single player. Hell look how short the GTA V single player was. 69 missions and thats counting those side missions that arent required to play, while a game like GTA IV had 80+ missions and thats not counting the DLC. Also lets not forget san andreas which had almost 200 missions. I'm really worried for the future of rockstar games.
It's called watering down the game. And old timers notice this more than the newer fans. If the newer people had experienced what gaming was like before their time they would be just as tough in criticism as the older crowd. Sure graphics have gotten better but companies also got more greedy too and figured out how to best milk more $ off of gamers without giving us as much quality/value as they can get away with too. Some people like prettier games with shorter campaign modes. What they got was Call of Duty and it's probably better for the business since they want to avoid preowned sales problem. (where games are traded in competing with new copy sales - but this shouldn't matter if the game is good enough such that players would never part with it)
