I agree in principle. I'll probably pick it up pretty close to launch, but right now I'm not all that interested. All this super heavy focus on multiplayer makes it feel like the campaign and story in general have been just an afterthought. Especially when it's a games-as-a-service title with ongoing development...

Huge improvement, open world looks fun to explore, some of the possibilities with the grappling hook and physics are awesome. :up:

Now that I've actually watched it, that overview was the gaming equivalent of a Scott Morrison announcement.

God, remember how jazzed we all were for the Halo 3 story? How that was literally all the promotion for the game was about? And how Microsoft filmed promo spots for it to build hype?

This game comes out in less than two months, and all they've done to build hype is a couple of multiplayer tests and shown what looks like procedurally generated campaign elements. They haven't given me a single reason to give a shit about the campaign.

Anyone playing the MP at the moment? It's free on Steam and completely cross-play. And it is stupid fun. Like playing the original Halo for the first time fun. Super pumped for the campaign now

I've been playing it, it's pretty good. Although I wish the server tick rates and pings were better. Seems like we don't have a lot of local servers allocated for it.

Had a decent session with Chaos the other night, had a blast staying up till 2am, haven't done that playing multiplayer since I was in London, I was actually impressed with what I played. There was some cut scenes in the training mode and you could tell straight away it wasn't in engine but nonetheless nothing to be scoffed at.
I hope there's an option for console players not to play against PC players and their dirty mouse/kb controls. 🤪

Controller players have generous aim assist, bullet magnetism, longer melee lunge range and red reticle. With the way the hit registration works in this game, a good controller player can outclass mouse keyboard easily.

The problem will be hackers on PC which sadly there are out in the wild already.

The hit registration in this game is weird, definite times you're on target and not seeing hit markers, tick server rate must be really low or there is a lot of desync going on.

Personally I still like playing better on mouse keyboard, I just feel more at home and don't mind working more for my kills. I just wish things like the melee range weren't nerfed for mouse players, I think that's unfair.

Also the audio/hit feedback and radar are a friggen joke, you need to be watching your radar like an eagle to catch people coming from behind and they're absolutely dead silent. Same goes with hit feedback audio, there literally is no audio direction cues when you're getting shot from back/sides. You practically don't even need audio to play. Everything is completely visual based right now.

Also a lot of weapons are really useless, the AR/pistol seem to outclass most weapons at medium/close ranges. There needs to be some serious weapon buffs and AR/pistol nerfs.

Those issues aside, the game is quite addictive and fun, there are lot of those fun chaotic halo moments that make you lol. Looking at the steam daily numbers, they seem to be holding so other people are having fun, 343 need to work fast though and fix the issues otherwise players will leave out of frustration.

I don't have that issue with the audio, are you using a headset? I only use it if I'm in a party otherwise it's home theatre and I can tell which direction they are behind me. Maybe I just sit closer to my rears.

I don't play online MP any more, hyped for the campaign though.

It's exciting being hyped for Halo again. Forza Horizon 5, Age of Empires 4, Halo Infinite. Sequel city, but thank you Microsoft for a cracking end to the year.

87 MC . Supposed to be one of the best, if not the best campaign in the series, and longest.
