The seething hatred of EA on Reddit is glorious.
I warm my hands to the fire.
You can't spell hate without EA.

EA cuts hero prices by 75%

Quote:
Since the start of the project, listening to fans has been important in making sure Star Wars™ Battlefront™ II is the very best experience for all of you. We’ve done this with the closed alpha, through the beta last month, and our Play First Trial. And we continue to make adjustments based on your feedback as the game launches worldwide this week. Listening, and providing choices in how you play, will always be our principle with Star Wars Battlefront II. We want to ensure the game is balanced and fun both today and for years into the future.

Making games great comes from regular tuning. As one example, today we’re making a substantial change based on what we’ve seen during the Play First trial. There’s been a lot of discussion around the amount of in-game credits (and time) it takes to unlock some of our heroes, especially Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. Unlocking a hero is a great accomplishment in the game, something we want players to have fun earning. We used data from the beta to help set those levels, but it’s clear that more changes were needed.

So, we’re reducing the amount of credits needed to unlock the top heroes by 75%. Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader will now be available for 15,000 credits; Emperor Palpatine, Chewbacca, and Leia Organa for 10,000 credits; and Iden at 5,000 credits. Based on what we’ve seen in the trial, this amount will make earning these heroes an achievement, but one that will be accessible for all players.

It's a big change, and it’s one we can make quickly. It will be live today, with an update that is getting loaded into the game.

We’ve also been listening to how much you’re loving features in the game (Starfighter Assault, 40 player MP battles, Darth Maul lightsaber throws, etc.) as well as what you haven’t liked. We know some of our most passionate fans, including those in our subreddit, have voiced their opinions, and we hear you. We’re making the changes to the credit levels for unlocking heroes and we’re going to keep making changes to improve the game experience over time. We welcome the conversation.

:backpedal:

Star Wars Battlefront 2 is a great game spoiled by a terrible business model. DICE and EA are going to be under a huge amount of pressure not just to tweak, but completely overhaul the metagame or face an even bigger fan backlash than they have already.

Looks like the greedy guys are listening now:

...But campaign reward lessened. Fuck lootbox shit lol just don't buy it. EA is just better off selling amiibo like nintendo. Much more transparent. Still wallet rapey, but it's upfront and less sneaky. Mobile gaming is bringing gaming down the FTP land. Buy games like Wolfenstein and Agents of Mayhem over this. Or any sony or nintendo first party game (Horizon ZD, MK8DX) that still doesn't sell shit in-game if you wish to send a clear message. I don't want companies like capcom and the monster hunter franchise to go down this paying extra money to win route that EA is pushing.

If you don't have much free time, I can understand that. But maybe play games that let you advance by paying, not ruin ALL games by putting this in ones that don't need it.(single player focused titles) MMOs and stuff are fine since those were already grindy games. But when I see this in my triple A experiences that have a certain pace to them, then you are literally lowering the quality of the game itself by making us grind for rewards for so liong when we could have had an entertaining game that was less repetitive. It's sacrificing your core audience for a minority of people just to boost your company profits. If ALL games have this system you can kiss goodbye to the core audience that bought the games. I think multiplayer-focused shit was ok since I don't play online much, but now that its seeped into single player too, this risks people who would have had interest in games to see all single player games as potential grind fest now and will avoid buying on principle. If you need to make a game more expensive just charge more for it upfront. Don't destroy the single player experience by making progress super slow for rich guys

I would just not have an in-game shop in the game and pay more upfront when I buy it from the store (keep the pace of the single player experience fast paced or normal speed) than to pay less for a game upfront, but have ads in the game, and then have to buy extras to avoid the grind. By putting ads in your game you are showing you have no respect for your customers. You would never see ads inside a movie where people have paid full ticket price hahaha Games should be no different.

It was personal when they fucked Mass Effect Andromeda.. this time.. it's sad.. but it also doesn't affect me so it's delightful to watch.

EA pulls all micro transactions from Battlefront.

official announcement.

Thank you to everyone in our community for being the passionate fans that you are.

Our goal has always been to create the best possible game for all of you – devoted Star Wars fans and game players alike. We’ve also had an ongoing commitment to constantly listen, tune and evolve the experience as it grows. You’ve seen this with both the major adjustments, and polish, we have made over the past several weeks.

But as we approach the worldwide launch, it's clear that many of you feel there are still challenges in the design. We’ve heard the concerns about potentially giving players unfair advantages. And we’ve heard that this is overshadowing an otherwise great game. This was never our intention. Sorry we didn’t get this right.

We hear you loud and clear, so we’re turning off all in-game purchases. We will now spend more time listening, adjusting, balancing and tuning. This means that the option to purchase crystals in the game is now offline, and all progression will be earned through gameplay. The ability to purchase crystals in-game will become available at a later date, only after we’ve made changes to the game. We’ll share more details as we work through this.

We have created a game that is built on your input, and it will continue to evolve and grow. Star Wars Battlefront II is three times the size of the previous game, bringing to life a brand new Star Wars story, space battles, epic new multiplayer experiences across all three Star Wars eras, with more free content to come. We want you to enjoy it, so please keep your thoughts coming. And we will keep you updated on our progress.

I guess Disney wasn't too happy with all that bad publicity.

Even with all the negative loot box publicity Shadow of War got, it still ended up being the best selling game in OCT NPD, beating AC:Origins and Mario.

Thanks to guys like Jim Sterling and angry nerds who care about value they have had to back down.

Keep up the good work! It's working. Don't buy jack shit. Whine but whine while not buying shit so they know you MEAN IT. Vote with your wallet is the only tactic that will show the giants we won't put up with cheating. Do what blizzard do with Overwatch. Cosmetic shit = good. Cheating = bad. Paying to win faster is ok, if it is a free to play game. That is what people will tolerate. Go past that line in the sand and we will avoid purchasing it.

Lestat: It doesn't matter how good the sales are. If you PERSONALLY buy the broken game, and they know you personally bought it, it will send a message that you will tolerate polished turds with marketing hype and nice visuals over the single player game with mid budget with quality gameplay but which isn't selling to kids with rich parents who have shitty taste in games or don't know what makes a game good because they themselves don't care and let their kids bully them into buying the most hyped title for their kid who has shit taste or is ignrant of ethics and the problem that cheating can do to ruin a competitive experience online.

We all like big triple A blockbuster titles. We just don't want them to rape our wallets or force us to cheat to get the full content. When we buy a full price game we want full price quality or value for it. Sales may mean something to the workers who want to keep their jobs and shareholders, but long term you will scare away buyers of the game once they realise what they just bought. Short term? Yeah you will gain profit. But long term? You kill your own reputation in the community who wants free to play games with pay to win business model to be free for poor guys. Triple A games are not mobile games. They are the equivalent to going to the movie theatres and buying a ticket to see the full movie which has no ads during it.
When they start asking you for money to see endings it is like going to movie with the ending cut out of it. Legally they can get away with that but you piss off the customer.

EA knows its evil. You don't need to remind them that. But you don't enable that evil by paying for the product while talking shit about them on boards. You have to follow through with the whining by withholding money regardless of what other people are doing. (if the zombie consumer wants to get ripped off let them be ripped off. You don't have to follow them. Would you jump off a cliff just because you saw other people doing it for no reason? Exactly! Who cares about the sales? Worry about your own actions)

Candy's Fave company seduced to the dark side:

Holy shit. They let sucess get to their head. Now they feel invincible like the bad hacker in Goldeneye. This means the lizards have them by the balls now that they have invested in them.
We told you the game industry was doomed. Obsidian and Bethesda are the only hope left for single player RPG now imo. And pirahna bytes can be the discount version of those two during the dry periods.

Won't feel so bad downloading cyberpunk from candy's pirate server farm now._Got to save money to buy overpriced ports of pc games on switch like Skyrim and Doom and Wolfenstein II..

We all knew single player was doomed when GTA5 online became too sucessful and prevents company from needing to care about the single player campaign modes. Yes the COD games started it be making campaign less the focus, but those were just action shooters so you kind of expect fast paced and short games from that genre now just like arcade ports. But in the past the big games usually were free of online mode taking over in terms of profit. I guess GaaS is the new gimmick this gen and the following gen until people get sick of it. Every game is going to fee llike a MMO from here on in I reckon.

Buy single player games like Evil Within 2, Wolfenstein II, YS 8, Agents of Mayhem, Pillars of Eternity (console release), Hob (runic gmaes is dead now thanks to you guys not pimping this game) and Horizon Zero Dawn to show these big companies we love single player modes too. And if you can stomach the loot box maybe get Asscreed origins. (but they are ubisoft game so don't expect them to care about you too much thanks to nobody buying Zombi U on the Wii U - they need you to also buy Rayman 2D games and single player experiences other than asscreed if you want variety. Think of the quality of the game not just how big budget it is: that's what's making these expensive games so loot grindy: because they are so expensive they can and wil justify putting in anti-consumer stuff to help offset the cost of the projects which balloons as teams grow larger and eat into the money quicker resulting in compromises in quality.IE the games feel like a patchwork of different people's work and not one guy's vision with seamless feeling to the whole product. (bits and pieces stitched together vs one piece that feels big and epic and made with ambition)

Games are going to get so expensive that the hobby will price itself out of the reach of the everyday guy who will eventually give up. Very similar to comic books trying to look more like 'graphic novels' and go for the fancy covers but not improving the quality of writing and other things. (ie more expensive but content is watered down to compensate for the collectors who want shiny presentation over substance)
Maybe the prediction is wrong and the doom isn't here yet. but that's the point of doom. You won't notice the sign until too late. Did the dinos know they were going to get wiped out? Shit no. They died because they didn't pass knowledge on. Humans can pass knowledge on and avoid disasters. Which is why we are superior to the reptilians because they are reckless and simple-minded.

EA are a bad influence to other developers who secretly wish they could get away with all the things EA can get away with.

CDProjekt Red are greedy too:
https://torrentfreak.com/drm-free-witcher-2-cashes-in-on-bittorrent-pirates-111207/

Eurogamer has put up an article which has CDProjekt Red response to PrettyGoodGaming video above:
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2017-11-19-cd-projekt-red-greed-cyberpunk-2077-multiplayer

As much as people like the Witcher 3, when billionaires start to give you money at the end of the day it means they have the final say in any decision since they fund things. See the movie Aliens when Ripley is surprised that the company wants to bring back a sample of an xenomorph for bioweapons research because they can't resist the profits of selling the products created from research into the alien creature. (endangering the lives of the people on the ship. Greed is what motivated a crew member to conspire to kill Ripley to hide this from the others. The billionaire giving them money could even be an EA fan trying to sabotage the competitor. These polish guys need to be aware of this)

My miission is to stop Candy Arse from hiding this type of info from the public since he only attacks the greedy nintendo for releasing underpowered hardware out of jealousy that they are opening theme parks and movies are being made about mascots and Tshirts are being sold with their characters on them. They are all greedy but some of them are scarier than others. I bet if GTA Online didn't exist we would probably have GTA6 in our hands right now. Multiplayer is taking over because more profit is made there than the sale of the core games.
It's the same fear Bethesda fans had when it was announced there was going to be a Elder Scrolls MMORPG. People thought that meant the death of the single player games. Thankfully they didn't do this. Let's hope CDPR don't become a mini EA. Everyone is greedy it is just a matter of how much greed exists in them compared to other greedy guys. You could even say consumers are greedy for expecting games to be 10 in review score in order to justify paying full price. (most will wait months after release until the game is half price or in preowned bin before even considering purchasing the new game) We're spoiled compared to the past when games were tiny due to limits to tech. Memory was expensive and 40 mins was the average playtime unless it was an adventure or rpg.

In the old days before the Playstation 1 era EA used to be a label that treat the software developer like rockstar and give them credits and try to stand out from other labels. Now they buy the licenses and mostly known for sporting sims. So companies can change. Let that be a history lesson going into the future. Could CDPR end up transforming like EA did? (no more caring about the creators of the games and treating them like rockstars, just worry only about profits at the expense of quality?)

Well look what they did to Titanfall 2, Respawn had no choice once EA got their claws into them but to let them buy them, if they tried to leave EA they would get the above treatment.

The big 3(EA/Activision/Ubisoft) have a lot of power in the industry now.

Yep. And don't you forget these companies all cater to the feminsts too.

Is it any surprise they put women soldiers in COD WWII?

Why there are female soldiers in Far Cry 3?

Why there are limited romance options for male heterosexual players in Dragon age games now?

The feminists have infiltrated gameboards with SJWs, demonise masculinity in Ghost busters movie, and now they are shaming men into not replacing them with sex robots on tv:

(notice how scared the two females on the panel are that this stuff will take off and be big business in future like the replicants in Blade Runner? :D Feminists are genuinely freaked out that they are going to have to work for money instead of blame the patriarchy which worked for so long. What a racist bitch picking on the japanese who work very hard for their wives and get little free time to themselves. She wants us all to be slaves - No more! The next sexual revolution is beginning and cyborgs and replicants are almost ready to become the new housewife so women can be free of men and be 'strong and independent' and not need men like fish don't need bicycles. :P)

It's time we woke up and swallowed the Red Pill. Why did the feminists want to ban GTA5 from department stores and not allow The Red Pill movie to be shown in australia?

Why is Jasper not pressuring nintendo to get Duke Nukem 3D HD Remake put on the nintendo Switch like how Doom was recently rebooted for a new audience? Could it be he is working for them too?
Pisses me off that they have invaded my space. We have to abandon gaming once these outsiders start ruining the hobby. It's their destiny to ruin fun and probably the reasons secret societies had to be formed. Fred Flintstone had the buffalo cult. You guys have freemasons. And nerds have dungeons and dragons meet ups. But even those are going to be infiltrated if that gets too big. If they could kill star wars, ghost busters, mad max, and ruin world war II by changing history, what hope is there? Do we pay them off to go away like the mob who demands protection money to ensure they don't wreck your shop?? Solutions please..

We must look at hypocrites like Pamela Anderson as snakes waiting to bite you when the sexual revolution doesn't benefit them personally. If a sexual revolution benefits men, it's considered bad or creepy as the feminist types like to say. But when a sexual revolution benefits women, it is 'empowering' to the woman and makes her sluttiness a virtue.
We got to train children not to obey evil adults. Evil adults are people who claim to be morally pure and try to then police your behavior despite them not being perfect angels and then when you don't want to follow them they use laws to stop you enjoying life that they were able to enjoy when they were young and still good looking and could have fun. Basically stopping you having fun is their new mission now that they can't have fun as they hit the wall and start to look ugly and lost their sexual marketplace value. It's a strategy of controlling you from tapping into your potential. Think of it like when Vegeta always gets pissed when Goku surpasses him in super Saiyan power level. Normally a person who isn't proud, would be happy that there is a level above his power that can be reached because it means there is new record to be reached in how strong a person can get. But to a proud person that show of force or power above their own power can be interpreted as an insult to them personally. 'What you think you are above ME? The mighty Saiyan prince who is leader of al saiyans with royal bloodline?! Get back down to your level you peasant!'

And that's what we have with feminism. They are like Prince Vegita not seeing the big picture. Feminists should be happy that men are going their own way because it means more responsibility to women who will grow skills by doing everything themselves rather than leeching off men for support all the time. When we built washing machines, lawn mowers, microwave ovens, vacuum cleaners, drilling equipment, chainsaws, cars, trains, rockets, trucks, drones etc to get places faster, kill invaders quicker with less danger, and save energy and time, men's muscles were no longer needed and so women saw this as an opportunity to then control us after we just helped them save time and energy doing housework by replacing their manual labour with time-saving machines that could run automatically. With all this free time now women can be left alone and men can be left alone so we can pursue greater achievements than the past ones and prgress forward by focusing on doing stuff that benefits all society not just women only.
They won't be able to stop the revolution. MGTOW is growing in popularity with teens who do not want to have gold diggers taking their money and bossing them around any more. If the feminists don't accept this then they will end up homeless on the streets and we know they won't like this so they will have to just accept this change like manual labourers had to accept that machines were going to replace the horse and buggy with automobiles. AI is going to get smarter and smarter in future to allow complex interactions with the robot so that it feels like human interaction. Technology only gets better with time never WORSE!

I was thinking of double dipping on PC, but would have to start from scratch as there’s no way to transfer saves from PS4 to PC. Need to pick up the expansion packs too.

Been playing BF2 this week and gotta say it's a huge improvement over the last, but the credit system and loot box shit is just plain fucked. Its seems the credit system is based on time playing rather than what you achieve during the game. Earning between 250-400 credits in game is just to damn low especially after you have completed the easy game missions and all those bonus 1000 credits given dry up.

The online star fighter battles are just so damn epic and fun along with the large battle fields. Plenty of maps and varieties from the Star Wars universe to enjoy.

Objecting to pay2win is grounds for getting fired at EA.
