GTA Trilogy - Definitive Edition

Post by Ambrose Burnside »

Worst kept secret in gaming officially announced but not much else.

Bare minimum for me would have to be 4k/60fps with overhauled controls so it plays like a modern game (I literally stopped playing San Andreas and never went back to it when I got up to that fucking remote control plane level), and the original soundtrack. But even then I'm not sure I can go back. And I really doubt they've gone to the effort of getting the rights to the original soundtrack :(

I own the OG pulled from shelves PS2 versions of the originals, plus the first 'The Trilogy' compilation on Xbox. Will I buy it again? :run:

Yeah, I'll probably buy it again. But as it stands I'm not buying the updated GTAV. It just doesn't look any better than it already is going by the trailer and that just isn't good enough to warrant buying it a third time... They've got to be bullshitting us thinking that level of not giving a fuck was going to fly. An eight year old game has plenty of room for improvement but there's just no sign of it.

For a bit of fun yeah. 2 is still the high point but three is a more "modern" game

I haven't played Saints Row in a few years. I never played the latest game so I probably won't buy it.

I like what they've done with the place. I'm further sold on hearing they've revamped gameplay so it plays like GTA5.

GTA Trilogy - Definitive Edition

Post by flipswitch »

There’s no way the original on-foot shooting with its “ lock on “ mechanics would be acceptable in this day and age. It was a known flaw back then.

New trailer release. Only seen it on Twitter.

From my eyes we can see improved character models, something inline with the game’s art, with no more crab for fingers, rain looks very nice and better environment mapping and modernised with that lovely PBR materials.

60fps is a must but no word on it.

Added YT video. Yep. 60fps.
Pretty much a remaster in a nutshell.

Well I’m an idiot! Ambrose added it already.

Interesting that on the Rockstar Launcher you can't buy the originals any more. All old game links lead to the new Definitive Edition.

I'm just looking forward to enjoying the story of SA, I didn't play it much when it came out, don't think I unlocked the second area. Great that it's on Gamepass for awhile so I can see how much I'll play it before I decide to buy. Reckon all the soundtracks will be intact?

This is by design. The original games are being delisted :(

I bought GTA3 and Vice City when I was living in Japan but could never get into them. Will give this a purchase.

Was a good time to invest in Take Two shares. 👌 Next up, Activision which has dropped substantially this week.

This is coming out in less than a week. I am actually super excited to play it, but I just hope we get some media impressions before release.

What was it that made you unable to get into it? I doubt this rerelease is going to make a huge difference overall, unless a slightly better frame rate and somewhat improved graphics and control method are enough to change things. Ultimately they're all still the same game, I assume.

I can see a lot of people buying it thinking "this time it'll be better and I'll like it" and realising it's still the same game they disliked the first time.
