Re: First Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay
Well I've shelved the game, gone back to AC:Odyssey, I find the combat, exploration and rpg systems/loot infinitely more interesting to do than RDR2.
At this point I just have to accept rockstar games aren't really for me, the clunky gameplay in their games has always hindered my enjoyment of them, with the exception of Max Payne 3.

The input lag in this game really is horrendous.

Yes Rockstar need to remember as we get older our patience is worse. That's why this isn't as good as Zelda BOTW. Movement in that feels like you are young and fit but still vulnerable.
Nintendo man. They are the kings of good controls. (except for the decisions they made during the waggle days for Donkey Kong)
They need to hire team whose sole job is to adapt the sluggish control to modern day standard. The old 1990's Tomb Raider shit where you needed to stop to wait for the character to keep up with your hands was done away with because you felt slow and clumsy. Why did they have to adopt that control style and slow pace? We are smooth dudes like the people in ubisoft games.
The heavy feel only works for true RPG fantasy games or monster hunter style games. Go with older GTA game animation please. The next GTA game needs to have parkour in it like the Cyborg ninjas in Warframe. (it's the gold standard for smoothness and looking like a bad ass as you move around)
Or make an open world mech game where you are laggy because of the weight. You mechjack other people's robots and commit crimes with it like the crooks in the Patlabor anime and manga.

Re: First Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay
Man, I could totally play this without any story missions, having a ball just hunting and finding random stuff. Stumbled across a gang hideout in a cave, thought it was only 2 guys sitting outside at first and quickly took them out with a bow, nek minnit, heaps of guys. Luckily I won cos I had some prestine skins on my horse including a black bear one. Also found 3 dead people in a cabin, looked like 3 generations, a grandmother, mother and child. No idea what happened but I found the fountain pen for the woman in my camp.
Sorry mate, just joshing ya. Totally made it up. Totes.Cletus wrote:t0mby wrote:Have you got those S+ rated stirrups made from the meteor fragment, pair of earrings and prestine buffalo skin?

Re: First Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay
The input lag may be bad, or noticeable, but it’s by far the best controlling of the GTA/RDR franchises imo.
I found using the tweaks and getting used to them over time made it less of an issue, and during the beginning I had thought of scrapping the game.
I would say there are acceptable.
I happen to have a tv with extremely low input lag which helps though.

Re: First Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay
Yeah, I'm with you too, the control method took awhile to get used to, especially the shooting. Geez, I remember trying to help some dude and I accidently shot him in the leg, fucked that meeting right up. Got my claw hand down pat when riding, shooting and moving the camera.
I've said it before and I'll say it again, it's by far the best open world game by Rockstar, hell, it's tied with Witcher 3 for me.

On the map just above the word Lemoyne, just inline with the letter O is a place called Aberdeen Pig Farm. Head there and chat to the fat dude on the porch and just let the story unfold.....

Re: First Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay
Anyone have a link to a guide on what the items do? I got me some Pirate Rum and something else that says it gives you Deadeye XP but not sure whether to use now or wait till I've maxed out. There's talks of ways to increase your stats when they max as there's still 2 empty segments in the circles.

Killed the Saint Denis vampire last night. Got a pretty sweet dagger for my trouble ( of which there was very little). Worth doing.

Have you found both the Male and Female Fertility Statues yet? I have one but it seems like no one on the net knows what to do with them yet.

Not sure how far in I am, but pretty deep in chapter 3 I think, and that sure was some shit that just went down. Damn.

I hate Dutch and Micah...and I hate doing missions with them because those missions are always doomed to fail. And they're just cunts.

Re: First Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay
Heh. Just last night, me and my youngest were discussing what a piece of shit Micah is.
Arthur would be better off putting a bullet in him.
I think they're setting up Micah to ultimately be the trigger for the demise of the gang. It would make sense to me.

Re: First Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay
Any details of what you can actually do?
Re: First Red Dead Redemption 2 gameplay
I reckon it will be mainly co-op missions like all the nagging phone calls you get in GTA online. Maybe Roman will send you telegrams asking you to come bowling.
