The real reason is because they don't want people on the other platforms to benefit. If you are ahead, you want those guys to buy your system lol

Nintendo getting rid of region coding and sony finally getting rid of restrictions to playing with friends on other systems can only begood for all gamers and businesses because the games can reach more people and the pool of people to play with increases making it a better overall experience. All the companies should encourage it. If you help the developers and the community the result is they will produce better games and there is less wasted time money redoing old shit; time which could be better invested playing other new games. Why make life difficult??
