The chap at 1.12 "what about latency?"
Rest of the video......no answer.
Nice pictures of big data centres though.

I'll believe it when I see it good guy Phil.

Latency is the biggest issue and that's why you need to be MS/Amazon/Google to do this. They're the only ones with massive cloud data center presence all around the world.

It's quite interesting reading this approach, they've built custom blade server modules that have one X chips on them, so they can pack several one X instances in a single blade server. This allows them to deliver all of the current xbox X games. This is a big advantage over Google/Amazon who are doing the same, they need to use more expensive and difficult to scale standard PC gpu components.

With 5G cell tech, I can see this being viable eventually and allow gamers to continue their gaming on the go.

5G latency
Under ideal circumstances, 5G networks should offer users a maximum latency of just 4ms, down from about 20ms on LTE cells. The 5G spec also calls for a latency of just 1ms for ultra-reliable low latency communications (URLLC).
5G has a 1ms latency transmission rate, with a local data server, you can could get latency down to (16-32ms)1-2 frames for 60fps or 1 frame for 30fps. Which for many games is playable.

Game Pass was the clearest signal that they are deadly serious about it. I don't buy those shots of them "gaming" in that video though.

It's a step in getting gaming to be more mainstream by reaching people who wouldn't go out and buy a console and isn't a nazi when it comes to response times. Any kind of turn based rpg or strategy title would be fine but I don't think people will want to play a fighting game with it.

5G is scary lestat. But we all know what it means and is really used for. Lifelike VR porn where the CG models of the women are photorealistic in the cloud because of the extra processing power and graphics power available. MS thinks it will be used for gaming lol You will be able to copy and paste any head to any body and make your own VR porn and it won't look fake. That's where cloud is going to take off not to play street fighter so candy arse can blame the lag in the cloud streaming service for his loss in a match.

When people come home tired from work they can have a lifelike waifu and then talk to it and the xbox will activate the robot that cooks the meal and make the dinner and serve that person while he plays forza on the console. He won't play the game on the cloud. He will use the cloud to have a skype like chat to it while it strips naked to cheer him on when he gets an achievement and she will shake her boobs and offer advice. The AI is only going to get better and the photorealism is only going to improve enough that the uncanny valley is no longer an issue anymore. Being able to customise the waifu (like the character in a RPG game) will be the reason people try out the cloud.
On a 4k tv you can zoom in really close and look at the detail without it getting too pixelated in texture and without it taking too much power from your console which needs the power to run forza. How does MS make money from this service? you can buy virtual clothes for the waifu to dress up in or animations where it dances just like fortnight emotes. MS needs to look back at what made the VHS home video business take off. (pro tip: it was the porn because people wanted to watch it in the privacy of the home. Same deal with virtual idols and virtual GF that reacts to you realistically and learns about you over time like the fish in seaman.)
In the future when physical robots become cheap for the average joe and the AI is good enough to be inside one, then people wil give up virtual girl for the sex robot. This is why MS needs to conquer japan because if they can appeal to the lonely oldlady that wants companion or the shy japanese kid who isn't into real women, they can make a killing. However they did buy minecraft which is a good move. Now they just need to expand.

Soon they will own obsidian (hopefully they don't end up like Rare did lol) :

Once they get these RPG guys inside MS the funding from MS can mean more triple A rpg from them and maybe they can reboot mass effect under a different name or something and everyone can finally avoid bioware and EA crap for thier RPG fix.
This is important move imo. It's like when Bethesda first brought out Morrowind to the original Xbox to introduce pc rpg to console platform. IF MS can give these guys lots of money they don't have to limit themselves to isometric classic rpg shit from the 90s (which is fine with me not bashing it but it's done more for nostalgia) and start making stuff closer to Fallout New Vegas but with today's graphics.
