Destiny 2 - Free (Master Race)

From today until November 18, Destiny 2 will be free for people on PC to download through Blizzard’s Battle.net client, the company announced today at BlizzCon. The giveaway is to mark the game’s one year anniversary of first coming to PC.

Obviously, this offer only applies to people who haven’t already purchased the game on PC. Those who did will get a unique emblem instead. Meanwhile, players who download the game during this period will own it even after the November 18 deadline.

You need to have a Battle.net account and set up mobile authentication and whatnot. It'll show up as a "free gift" in the app

Game is great now since the Forsaken expansion. I think the first years worth of PS exclusive content is up for you guys now too.

That took forever to download.

Three observations:

1. It is so like PSO. The general feel when you play is practically the same thing. I get the sense that I play it not because of how much I like it, but because of how much it's tapping into the PSO in my blood.

2. The way you have to double press Tab so much to see where the next doodah is is a little annoying. But it's made 4x worse by the way it always cancels your run. Even if you use hold-to-run it still cancels it, so you have to lift your finger off the run key every time you hit Tab... which you need all the time so this bugs me all the time.

3. The way you have to press fire to ready your gun coming out of a run also bugs me a lot. Maybe it's something I'd get used to, maybe not. There's already so, so much reloading you have to do; it's like the majority of the time you're shooting is spent not actually shooting.

I also found myself in a weird place where I'm unable to find anything that isn't either super easy to kill, or outright Immune. Ok so four observations.

Not sure I'll make it to level 20 - don't have time to sink into another game - but it seems ok.

... But that could well be the drugs (PSO) talking.

Looks like Destiny 2 will go free to play on all platforms in September along with Cross saves across all platforms. You still need to pay for some of the new expansions though. No more Sony exclusive content either.

PC Destiny 2 is migrating from Battle.net to Steam on September 17. Bungie will facilitate account transfers so progress, characters, gear, etc. come across intact.

So looks like they're going to the warframe path, just keep Destiny 2 as the base and keep adding content and improving the base engine over time.

For this sort of game, rebooting your progress with separate titles doesn't really work.
