Epic mega sale now on.

https://wccftech.com/epic-mega-sale-liv ... iscounted/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get $10 off games in the Epic Games store?
You don’t have to do anything. During the sale, all games priced $14.99 and above are an additional $10 off, courtesy of Epic.

Do I get $10 off games that are already on sale?
Yes! As long as the sale price is $14.99 and above.

How long does the Epic Mega Sale last?
The sale ends June 13, 2019.

Will I get $10 off DLC, game add-ons, season passes, or in-game purchases, including V-bucks in Fortnite?
No, the promotional offer only applies to qualifying game purchases from the Epic Games store. It does not apply to any nongame purchases such as add-ons (like DLC or season passes) or in-game purchases (such as in-game currency, like V-bucks in Fortnite, or upgrades like Save The World mode.)

I pre-purchased a game before the start of the Epic Mega Sale and that game hasn’t launched yet. Should I cancel my pre-purchase and then buy it again to take advantage of the $10 discount?
No, you don’t have to! Every player who pre-purchased an unreleased game in the Epic Games store prior to May 16th, 2019 for $14.99 and above will receive a $10 refund! You will receive your $10 refund automatically to the payment method you used in the next 7-12 days.

What if I bought a game just before the Epic Mega Sale?
For all game purchases between May 2nd, 2019 and May 15th, 2019 we will refund you the difference in price between what you paid and what you would have paid during the Epic Mega Sale (inclusive of the $10 off from Epic). You will receive your refund automatically to the payment method you used in the next 7-12 days.
Time to jump on World War Z.

Publishers pull their games from Epic's Store during its big sale. 404 errors being returned to users trying to access the store pages. Pretty clunky operation they're running over there.

Yeah I've been watching the shenanigans all day, I suspect the issue was developers thought the $10 discount would apply on checkout, so list prices wouldn't change much. Epic applied the discount to the list price already so that means all the price trackers will record this low price which freaked the devs/pubs out.

Anyways I ended up buying these games.

World War Z.
All 3 Quantic Dream games.
John Wick Hex.

My first epic store purchase, note people that they'll be putting a new free game up every 2 weeks while the sale on, so check back often.

Enter the Gungeon is free now!

I came across this roadmap for Epic Games store, you can see what features will be added to the store and the time frame. It's good we'll get cloud saves very soon.

World War Z: >2 mln copies sold, 700k on PC, EGS is the top digital platform, performing way above expectations

https://www.pcgamesn.com/world-war-z/epic-sales" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
The developer also confirmed that those sales numbers make the EGS the top digital platform for the game, which Karch says has now sold “well over two million copies.”

The success of the game’s Epic Games store sales mean that PC has become an important part of World War Z’s impressive sales figures. While the PS4’s physical sales mean that Sony’s console is the leading platform for the game, Karch says that Saber didn’t quite expect the response on PC – “we always believed the game would find a good following on PC eventually. The surprise was just how quickly it happened, and how important Epic’s platform was in getting us there.”
An impressive share of sales on PC comes in spite of a backlash against the Epic Games store in general, something Karch says he doesn’t really understand. “We don’t see backlash when console manufacturers create games that are just for their hardware, and buying a system for a game is obviously a much more onerous requirement. My hope is that once there is feature parity on the PC platforms, we won’t hear as much complaining”

WWZ hasn't been getting favorable reviews so I'm surprised it's sold that well. Must be gamers dying for a L4D3.

Epic goes BANG! Six free games today, the Arkham Trilogy (Asylum, City, Knight) AND the Lego Batman trilogy

Next week is Metro 2033 Redux and Everything, which until now I hadn't heard of, but it sounds cool
Over time, however, Everything peels back its simplistic trappings. Some of its layers are mechanical (via new skills you unlock), while others are philosophical. The game reveals itself to be an exuberant celebration of connections, of the ties that bind the universe together. It's some hippie-arse shit, but it's good hippie-arse shit, especially if you're in desperate need of a reminder that life's bigger than the problems right in front of you.
I know it's a cash grab to secure marketshare, but given the sheer number (and quality!) of the free stuff they've given out, I can't complain.

I'm definitely liking it, especially the variation. Games are more abundant than time for many of us, so I really enjoy the mix that leans to the indie side over getting nothing but blockbusters. Abzu, Journey, Slime Rancher, Thimbleweed Park, Rime (I loved Rime), Oxenfree, and Moonlighter are all games that I wouldn't have thought of buying but all were enjoyable and kept me engaged.

And nothing's really low quality. Except Subnautica, which doesn't deserve the pass it gets it's so damn janky, but at the same time it's still probably the platform's best giveaway.
The only time the free games disappointed was when we got Super Meat Boy clone (The End is Nigh) the week after we got a Super Meat Boy clone (Celeste)... when they'd already given us Super Meat Boy.

The Witness and Fez also deserve mentions, then this whole Batsplooge and Metro next week... looking forward to trying that.

TL;DR: It's great if you're a) a cheapskate and b) tired of time-consuming blockbusters.

I fucking adore Moonlighter and Slime Rancher. I got the latter for free with that Games with Gold thing on xbox and liked ti so much I bought it on PC so I didn't have to deal with the crappy performance issues. And then Moonlighter... it's just so... perfect!

I was definitely thinking Metro was something other than what it really is, which is about as clichéd an FPS as you can get. I've been trying to figure out how they pitched this before it got the go ahead, because "brown nondescript monsters in a post-apocalyptic environment where ammo is scarce and the NPCs talk a lot" doesn't exactly scream originality.

I can only guess that someone thought "Russians" and "based on a novel" was some kind of big deal.

Deleted already. I was about 40% through but prefer to not give it more time.

That's how I felt about the first game. Got out of the mines and got smashed in some shitty run down area (probably 90% of the game) and just uninstalled.

Surviving Mars is really good. Much better than it was on release too

edit: just saw that Green Planet DLC wasn't free, which I think was the best expansion.

I'll put this here because EA releasing games on Steam again is a business decision that's probably linked to Epic's recent activity.

How ironic, EA was one of the first big publishers to leave steam, now they're back.

I don't know what to make of this, can we just roll our EA games into our steam library, there are only a few EA games, would be nice if we could.

Edit:

Reading more into it, it looks like things will be handled like uPlay on steam, so steam will just launch the origin client which then launches the game. So I guess EA are doing this to get more visibility for their titles/subs.

Valve would've offered EA some tasty morsels to get them back on board like a platter of crackers and Gabes back zits.

Origin was great when they would periodically hand out freebies. Picked up gems like Jade Empire, Mass Effect 2, Battlefield 1942, and a bunch of others that way.

Those offers dried up after EA started their subscription service.

And now the Epic Store does freebies better than anyone and I don't have time to play any of them :(
