Yep, GTAV, and subsequently the store has been down for 2 hours since it went up.

I claimed it easily enough just now. I already own the PC version, but when they're free like this I claim them anyway, can never be too careful with digital stores these days.
Next week's game is another mystery game. Another AAA blockbuster?

I've been on the verge of buying GTAV for ages. Another win for the procrastinators.

Rumours are already swirling that the next mystery game will be Witcher 3.
Bloody hell, anyone who got into PC gaming when the Epic Store first launched will have one hell of a collection without ever having to have spent a cent

Re: Epic Games Store (now with free games!!)
I got the free GTA V from Epic Games... I actually had this on the Xbox, but rage quite because of the driving aspect of this game, I seriously struggle in this game because of the driving - it's just too hard for me
I don't recall driving being that hard in GTAIII or GTAIV.

Re: Epic Games Store (now with free games!!)
I'd like Ark, even though I get the impression it's the worst of the 3 Rors just mentioned.
Almost got it for PS4 despite all the tech issues it has that I've read about, except even with two PS4's in the house we still can't play private multiplayer without this ridiculous short tether maintained between our characters.

I've been constantly collecting these free games from the beginning, I currently have 106 games in my Epic Store library, I have bought around 8 games from the store, the rest is all free.Ambrose Burnside wrote:Rumours are already swirling that the next mystery game will be Witcher 3.

Reminds me of the good old early days of steam with those incredible sales where you got stuff for $1-2, this is even better because it's all free. Fornite bucks FTW.
They need to add Achievements ASAP, it does feel lacking when playing games on the service and not getting them.Achievements
The Achievement service for titles on the Store is currently in development. We look forward to sharing more information about the system soon.

I've added the ability for people to put their Epic GS id and Battle.net id on your profile now. Handy for crossplay across these services.

Civilisation VI free now so it looks like the leak was accurate and the Handsome Jack collection will be next.
Absolute madness.

Re: Epic Games Store (now with free games!!)
I remember paying $130 for SSFII on the Megadrive.
Can't believe or keep up with the number of *good* free games around. There are already 4 things I'm trying to play at once and enjoying a lot... plus the backlog that is waiting for attention. GTA V and Civ VI are supposed to fit in how, while I look forward to Ark: Survival.

Battle.net tag requires numeric IDs for searching and look-ups so I've added mine.lestat wrote:I've added the ability for people to put their Epic GS id and Battle.net id on your profile now. Handy for crossplay across these services.

Epic really, really need to sort out the Launcher. Not being able to restore your games from a previous install of Windows without having to go through some fuckery is just ridiculous.

Borderlands the Handsome Collection is free... but you need to get it quick as it changes to the next game soon.

Re: Epic Games Store (now with free games!!)
When Total War Saga: Troy launches in August, it will be free to keep on the Epic Store for 24 hours.
I can't keep up. If I never buy a game again I don't think I'll be able to clear my backlog of free games before I die because they JUST KEEP COMING.

Re: Epic Games Store (now with free games!!)
Dammit, this week's free game is just Overcooked. It's a small game compared to recent offerings, and I was looking forward to Ark: Survival, and they've given away Overcooked before. I hope Ark is next week then, maybe?
In other news, a remake of Trackmania is being released on the 1st of July, and is free to claim now.

Re: Epic Games Store (now with free games!!)
I've been exploring the wonders of steam family sharing lately. It kinda sucks that Epic has no such feature.
I can see why people love steam so much, it's those features and support that make you feel more secure in investing into the platform for your games.
MS store has family sharing too.
Just recently built a Gaming PC for the kids so this has become a sticking point for me now. I have a massive library of games, it's nice to be able to share it with my kids.
I hope EGS add family sharing in future.

The Steamlink Samsung TV app works great too. Steam is miles ahead. I'd be happy with EGS achievements for now. I remember thinking achievements were naff when they first appeared but they're pretty ingraned now.

I know what you mean about achievements, it's nice having some record of your progress in a game. It kinda feels like it never happened without them.
Re: Epic Games Store (now with free games!!)
Sweeeet this week's free game is Ark. I have been hanging out for it since it was in the suggested leaks. Do not care if it's bad, it has dinosaurs, I am done.
There are several expansions and a mod kit also free to claim.

Re: Epic Games Store (now with free games!!)
Ark is good in some areas and I'm still playing and enjoying it.
But boy oh boy.. it is nek level for the amount of problems and poor production quality. It truly transcends being frustrated at the devs and is the Will Ferrell "I'm not even mad" meme of how embarrassingly poor a state many things are left in.
And it's at every level. From interface to core design flaws to crashing my PC to woeful collision detection to ridiculously broken animation to ridiculously broken ragdolls to 5-year old three-way typos to fighting the building system and everything in between. There are so many things that are just "How did they let this ship" or "How have they not fixed this small bug in years" or "How did they think this core design was good". It is truly amazing.
Your character s***s him/herself every 5 or so minutes; that's not a metaphor. You literally drop an unrealistically large and round turd straight out of your pants every 5-10 minutes, for the whole game. What. And that's really the most minor and inconsequential thing compared to the real problems.
So if you come in expecting a slightly reasonable level of care paid to the smallest logical things, you won't have a good time.
But if you like dinosaurs a lot and enjoy the survival genre, and don't mind a lot of jank -- more jank and from disinterested-yet-active developers than I have ever seen, it has a lot of depth and content to enjoy. The various systems of the game - exploring, unlocking tech, building, dino capturing/using/raising/breeding, etc - are deep and interesting. You can play like an industrialist building an army, or the survival game, or (as I am) basically play giant Pokemon.
So I'm still having fun with it, but it is just so amazing how bad some things are.
