Re: Epic Games Store (now with free games!!)
They got rid of Small Mode, which was how I used Steam 90% of the time.
This sucks.
I was always annoyed other launchers didn't have a similar view, now Steam is just as big and annoying as the rest

New Steam library is nice but it's pretty similar in look and structure to GOG Galaxy 2.0.

A free game every day for 12 days starting with Into The Breach. Get it while it's there.

Epic keep giving away so many good games, I don't have a lot of reasons to buy something on their store. It's madness.Peppermint Lounge wrote:A free game every day for 12 days starting with Into The Breach. Get it while it's there.

Re: Epic Games Store (now with free games!!)
The Little Inferno is really well presented; the fire is done well and it's satisfying and enjoyable like you'd expect burning things to be.
For about 4 and a half minutes.
Then you realise that the direction the game has settled on is woefully shallow, while the written communications are irritating clickfests, and the timers... whytf are there timers in this game? There's no difference in the game between using an item now or 90 seconds from now, so your brain subconsciously looks for the microtransaction but nope... they're just timers for no reason.
There are some playful interactions with how some things react to flame or to each other, but those interactions should have been a base that the core game was built upon. Instead they're just an occasional side note to a surprisingly dull exercise of matching items.

Wish they had a mobile app for the store for those of us who aren't near their PC during the holidays
edit: I see I can login to the store from the web at least

Re: Epic Games Store (now with free games!!)
Nnnf... bit ironic that the game they give away on Christmas day itself is a repeat.

Ah lol, ok well there you go.
That seems a bit off though... like who would design and release a game deliberately made to be annoying?

lel
FTL - Faster Than Light - now free on the Epic store, today only. (27th)
I imagine most here have heard of and played it, but in case you haven't it's definitely worth getting. 2D top down running a spaceship as you manage weapons, fires, crew, oxygen, engines, the occasional trade, and so on.. with randomly generated levels.
Constant fun decision making, really nice music, and always a hefty enjoyable challenge. As simple as it looks it's one of the best games Epic has given away.
They gave away Into The Breach a few days ago, by the same team, and you can see the huge similarities in their direction despite playing fairly differently. Both good games, but from what I've seen of ITB, FTL is the better of the two.

FTL is amazing, and still amazing to this day. Also the game that got me into Twitch, watching lethalfrag do no pause runs on hard was mind blowing in 2012/13

FTL is brutal. After numerous disasters I managed to go deep with one run, the afterglow of which must continue to this day as I’ve not played it since.

Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun today. Nice pick up.
Re: Epic Games Store (now with free games!!)
The Talos Principle is today's free game. It's a fairly standard puzzle game that's quite well done and pretty highly rated. For me a puzzler needs to be something more than just well done, but still happy to have it. I actually bought it for VR a while ago, regretfully. Now I can finally play it without the basically pointless VR setup.

Hello Neighbour is today's game.
From what little I saw on Good Game, it looked pretty funny and original.

Re: Epic Games Store (now with free games!!)
My son wants to play Hello Neighbour. He watches an obnoxious channel called Fgteev - a so-called family gaming channel that streams Hello Neigbour among others. He watches under supervision because a lot of what they stream is far from age appropriate. Amazed at how many trash indie kiddy horror games are popular out there. Hello Neighbour is a higher calibre production than shite like Baldi's Basics but it's still a game that looks painful to play.
Another free game available on GOG btw. Tower of Time - a 50 hour dungeon crawler that released just last year to good reviews.

Epic has given me so many free games, there is literally nothing for me to buy on there now.
I don't get this strategy at all.

Re: Epic Games Store (now with free games!!)
It does have a few timed exclusives I want, like Control and Mechwarrior 5 but refuse to buy. The launcher is a pile of dog shit. Biggest knock is it doesn't allow for installs to be moved to a different location like every other decent launcher. Only other launcher like that is Windows Store. Had to download my entire library again recently because I had to migrate hard drives. So frustrating.

Re: Epic Games Store (now with free games!!)
There's no specific setting within the client to specify a default install location but when you choose to install a game you can choose its location. Install to your prefered drive/directory with confidence.
edit: Oh you're talking moving. I thought you were talking about installs. Carry on.

Re: Epic Games Store (now with free games!!)
Yeah, unless I'm blind, there is no way for Epic to install in place or direct it to a previous installation at a different location. Super annoying. Had to re-install Borderlands 3 and Metro afterwards, not small games either.

Re: Epic Games Store (now with free games!!)
With windows store apps, you can move them to another drive, you need to do it via the control panel apps, find the app/game in the list and select properties, you should see an option to move it to another drive.
This is the only way that it works though, if you try and copy the files manually it will fail due to the encryption winstore apps use.
