The Outer Worlds
From the original Fallout creators and published by Private Division, a new label started by Take-Two set up to make medium-budget games. All platforms. Looks great.

Tell me: is the corporation they are fighting against actually EA in 2099?

Info dump:
Didn't notice this but it's not a XBox exclusive. Does this mean (like minecraft) that future obsidian games are going to be multiplatform after MS bought them from now?

Re: The Outer Worlds
I was just thinking: there are a lot of games that have the "big greedy corporations are out to hunt you down" message running behind them. It's cool and trendy to criticise EA and lootboxes and exploitation of employees. But what about RPG that criicises government breaches of human rights?
more games that criticse government and communism need to be made too. This way people understand that when both join forces, you end up on your own. Sure the greedy guy in the suit is mean but he feeds off the cheap labour from the government that is enslaving its citizens and treating them like animals or tax cattle. Can companies like Obsidian give us more balanced perspective? (the darkness seeps into everything like the dark force in phantasy star games) Now that everyone owns an iphone made by underpaid factory workers from china it woul be edgy if they made us think about who the villain is. (it's us for buying the products knowing americans are using communism to increase profits at the expense of slave in a country they will never get to meet - Show us that when greedy capitalist agree with communist government that "slavery is awesome" and trampling on rights is beneficial to both sides of the left/right paradigm and why it continues)
I want to see that shit. Give us actual true SJW message. (not the fake outrage mob kind that you see today)

Re: The Outer Worlds
some more info from GS:
It seems this is the last game that will be multiplatform from them before MS gets the exclusives as owners.
New vats system sounds a lot like the slo-mo feature in the FEAR games. FEAR (the original) had a lot of beautiful matrix like scenes where you can see the damage done to the environment and enemies in slow motion so you can see all the details of people being blowing away. I hope they add some exaggerated damage effects in this game. The gore perk in Fallout was many people's fave. eg you might shoot a robot but instead of it falling over and dying it breaks apart violently. Or you shoot a guy and his whole head explodes or flies off his neck hahaha It's that cartoon humour that people want more of.

Looks interesting, now I can see why MS dropped the cash and bought them.

Coming out soon, can’t do much on mobile but from what I’ve read it’s just like New Vegas in ways. I will keep my eye on it. Runs on unreal engine not Bethesda’s one thankfully!.

Re: The Outer Worlds
This is coming to Game Pass too - 25/10.
Re: The Outer Worlds
Just saw that, added to the download queue. Just saved $89AUD. Absolutely getting both the next Sony and MS consoles. MS because Game Pass has so much content now that you can't access on PC.

Re: The Outer Worlds
Expect a title update on launch day for those who purchase physical copies of both Xbox and PS4 that will include tweaks and optimization fixes. This patch will be an estimated 38 GB download for Xbox players, and an estimated 18 GB for PS4 players.
For digital purchases on both Xbox and PS4, the patch will be included in the pre-load of the game.
If I read correctly, XBX gets 4K textures like PC.

Re: The Outer Worlds
Interested to see the reviews which will hit in the next 24 hours I believe. I watched some vision while being careful to avoid spoilers and it looks and sounds like an indie game. Far from AAA visuals and voice work. I've been playing Destiny 2, Gears and Hitman 2 this past week and this game is quite a few notches below that high mark. Not necessarily a bad thing, just something I found very noticeable.

Re: The Outer Worlds
Reviews look really good, sitting on 86 meta right now.
It's the fallout replacement we need since Bethesda has dropped the ball big time.
It's like Firefly the game! Which I approve.
Gamepass FTW!

Re: The Outer Worlds
Yep happy with reviews. 8s with some 9s. The Gamespot review seems more gushing than critical but it includes some nice media and gameplay videos that look pretty good. Play time of around 30 - 40 hours.

Had some crashing on PC, but set my FPS cap to 60 and everything is fine. This is so close to Fallout it's incredible

Re: The Outer Worlds
Driver update? AMD released one with optimised support for this game.
I'll have a crack after Gears 5.

Bought this, it is super weird in a good way. First impressions of Outer Worlds is phenomenal. It kills Bethesda's Fallout universe.Peppermint Lounge wrote:I also want Disco Elysium.

Re: The Outer Worlds
Yep.. fallout I can't do anymore it made me feel depressed playing it. This one is the opposite plus seems weird, feel a bit odd that I'm walking around pointing my gun at everyone though and no one seems to care.. don't seem to be able to holster it?

Budget game, they had to cut some corners.
