10 Dragon Ball Fighter Z (Im a fan of both the anime/manga and the game developer who knows fighting games)

9 Red Dead Redemption 2 (easy flawed masterpiece but not as good as 1)

8 Monster Hunter World (capcom needs to push this franchise hard, it may save them)

7 Kingdom Come Deliverance (mostly because it took risk by trying to make combat interesting)

6 Ni no Kuni II (I'll admit it's the beauty of the cel shading that got it here. see review below. Level 5 = insta-purchase. All the celshaded games seem to be good Zelda BOTW, This, DragonballFighterZ. I see a pattern! If you are a fan of the "Tales of " games you might want to check this out because combat is real time like those now)

5 Far Cry 5 (not for the villain but the gameplay - the setting is fine and I don't see why people hate it)

4 Yakuza 6 (Sega finally stopped sucking, by bringing good games to the west, maybe the will make Phantasy Star Online 3 and release to nextgen console)

3 Monster Boy (5 years in the making and it paid off. Monster land wonder boy is back!)

2 Dark Souls Remastered (a game worth multiple replays that I'm glad to see was re-released for current gen)

1 Hollow Knight (came out to consoles this year to the disapointment of Candy Arse who is hiding all the good games and claims they are not on console. ie Dead Cells. )

The year was amazing. Spiderman (still haven't played it) and God of War are not on my list simply because I haven't had time to even play them. The port of Diablo 3 for switch would have made it to the list simply because of the quality of the port. Iron Galaxy did a good job. Also was going to exchange Dead Cells with Hollow Knight but flipped a coin and Hollow won. Since there were a lot of Yakuza titles this year I settled for just one.

There is also a lot of unknown shit out there I want to check out that came out last year.

Look at this game:

looks great (Megaman Zero spiritual successor? I'm in!) but I missed it. Why didn't people tell me the GBA is still alive? Reminds me a bit of ActRaiser on the SNES

I love the over the top narrator for inticreates games lol:

reminds me of old 80s action movie trailers.

My advice to inti creates is hire victor caroli. He's the guy who did all the 80s transformer cartoon narration. And it seems many people copied his style.

Hard list for me since this year I played through a lot of backlog stuff which I really enjoyed, but for this years releases my list is.

A lot of older games also got re-released this year too. Eg Far Cry 3 classic edition on ps4. Dark Souls Remastered. Shen Mue 1+2. Smash Bros Ultimate (updated from an older game). Diablo 3 port to Switch. Street Fighter anthology, megaman X legecy collection, Capcom beat em up collection, Secret of Mana remake (3d graphics), Castlevania SOTN re-release to PS4 etc..
Everyone is milking the nostalgia..

But no sign of a remake of Duke Nukem 3D in the style of Doom 2016 or Shadow Warrior in sight though... Aresholes. Wolfenstein, Doom, Shadow Warrior, and Skyrim get re-made edition but not Duke? Too masculine for today? lol I want to see one done just to see Polygon's reaction when there are big titted sluts in school girl uniforms getting rescued after being taken hostage or as sex slave by the aliens. We need these games to remind current generation what good level design was like and when aliens were racist against human instead of fucking them like in mass effect. The aliens raping babes, may be too sensitive for today's gamers due to the migrant crisis and muslim rape gangs. But it's important to look at these topic. The aliens in old sci fi have always represented different countries with different cultures and languages and as foreign invaders coming to take your world/land/rights away.

A Duke Nukem 3D remake can give 'the other side of the argument' amoung all the SJW shit we are being shoved down our throat. They could put in an human-alien hybrid baby that almost got aborted by a feminist in the game as the main antagonist and he is seeking revenge on humans for not keeping it in their pants. The aliens are seen as foreign sex worker and the ideal for human who have alien fetishes due to all the japanese hentai porn they watch. A lesson in the game: don't fuck with the aliens. Or they fuck with you. Duke can't just shoot aliens now, he has to travel in time before the rapes happened to stop the birth of the hybrids. (sort of like terminator in reverse - the good guy kills the aliens before the rape happens to prevent the hybrid alien leader being born. Duke's jetpack allows him to fly around the city in time and much like a GTA game you are under pressure to respond to a mission or you fail it and have to accept that the girl is impregnated and will birth a horde of demons - sort of like the monster generators in Gauntlet) Ironically it's the aliens that have toxic masculinity since they can't restrain themselves from abducting hot women and trying to breed with them. And Duke is merely preventing replacement of human culture with the least violent means. (kill the aliens raping people, rather than wait until the women are impregnated and have to abort the hybrid kid)
The right wing conservative can finally be the good guy again. (no more female pretending to be males - we see that in all the hollywod movies and it's tired)

Downloading the 60-70 odd gigabyte Far Cry 5 now which I suspect will be pretty neat. 8 points.

Looking at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2018_in_video_gaming" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;, it appears I picked up seven 2018 games (I may have missed one or two), which is more than I thought: Kingdom Come: Deliverance (PC), Subnautica (PC, Epic Store giveaway), Far Cry 5 (PC), Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy (Xbox One), Spyro Reignited Trilogy (Xbox One), Assassin's Creed Odyssey (Xbox One) and NBA 2K Playgrounds 2 (Xbox One).

Of them, I have yet to play Kingdom Come or Subnautica. And I would have only have put in about one hour into Far Cry 5 (Christmas present). So I won't include them.

10 Assassin's Creed Odyssey (Xbox One)

This was a Christmas present I picked up with gift cards (along with Far Cry 5 and NBA 2K Playgrounds 2). I honestly thought that of the three, I would play Far Cry 5 the most, but Assassin's Creed Odyssey has hooked me like no game has for quite some time. I've never been a big Assassin's Creed fan, the last one I've actually played was the original , but the Ancient Greek setting and the fact it's evolved into a full-blown RPG convinced me to give it a shot. And I'm loving it! Keen on Origins now.

Speaking of games I wanted to play but didn't get around to it:
Soul Calibur 6. I don't care how outdated people say the game looks. Taki's amazing tits is enough reason for me to not want to see the series die off. Best ninja character ever and deserves her own games. Bandai Namco should make a Dark Souls-like game for her. Like Nioh but with Taki. It would sell like crazy. She loves to kill demons? Check. Has big titties? Check. Better looking than Bayonetta? Check. Do it Bamco! Make my dream dark fantasy action RPG game. Yes there are dozens of these soulsbourne games out but they don't have Taki in it. Unlike Soul Calibur don't be afraid to have hyper gore. IE go for the crowd that like Fist of the North Star.

I played a lot of games this year just seems a lot weren't made this year..

10. Yakuza Kiwami 2 - Loved it, loved the new engine and 0 load times
9. Forza 4 - If my xbox weren't an original OG and I didn't have to deal with 30fps and 5min load times that literally shit all my friends off from playing online with me due to them then it would have been getting 10.
8. Shadow of the tomb raider - Am loving it, great trilogy really enjoyed the world they built for Lara and basically have set the franchise up well moving forward from the shitshow it was beforehand. Beautiful game and I'm on the PS4 Pro, would love to play this on a One X or PC with a 4k screen
7. F1 2018 - Was great til my wheel shit itself and bricked.. so haven't put much into it since.
6. Spiderman - Not long with it but fantastic looking but my kid likes it and gets 6 points for a five year old being able to pick a controller up and swing around NYC in less than 5mins which to me is a miracle
1. Shadow of the Colossus - I didn't like it and never played the original but it's getting one vote for a decent remake. I think if I'd played it on original PSX I'd have been amazed by it and it's scale though, the twist and the end was interesting but made me feel ripped off so it did have a connection with me on a small level.


This threads paying off, I didn't realise there was a 25th anniversary of Night Trap out this year and on PC so I shall pick that up right now! Other than that, I think I'm ruined by like game pass as I constantly have content coming at me and be like oh that's a game I wanted to play or that looks interesting and nek minute I've spent 2 weeks spending my time playing a game I never intended too like the Sherlock Holmes game as an example.

I haven’t partipated in the GR GOTY awards for some time and will be missing this year. It’s not to say I haven’t played any games in 2018, but I don’t feel like I put in enough hours in them individually to come to a conclusion on which is best.
