Looks like tripe. Can't believe they are making another one after the last one was such a massive disaster.

I only played the first but heard the sequel was so much better. What made it a massive disaster?Froggy wrote:Looks like tripe. Can't believe they are making another one after the last one was such a massive disaster.

Re: Watch Dogs Legion
Almost picked up 1 & 2 for bugger all when they were on sale recently. I reckon I'd like them. At that moment the logic behind not throwing multiple open world games onto an unplayed pile you can't hope to finish given existing time constraints won out, for once.

Re: Watch Dogs Legion
Is the first game good? I hear and read the sequel is better but I prefer the darker look and tone of the original

Re: Watch Dogs Legion
The first game is fine but IIRC there's almost zero connection between both games other than the name and a few NPC jokes or something.
Definitely think you'd be interested in 2 pepp. Would finally give me a uPlay friend on my list

Re: Watch Dogs Legion
Out of all the E3 trailers I've seen (which is nowhere near all of them), this remains the most impressive, far more so than Cyberpunk (which is a definite purchase for me). Can't wait to see how it all pans out.

Re: Watch Dogs Legion
Ubisoft under the pump after the failure of Ghost Recon Breakpoint. As a result Watch Dogs Legion delayed to '2020-2021' while Ubisoft review their production processes.

https://ubistatic19-a.akamaihd.net/coms ... 733-32.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
However, we have not capitalized on the potential of our latest two AAA releases. For Ghost Recon
Breakpoint, while the game’s quality appeared on track – based on E3, Gamescom, previews and
our latest internal playtests –, critical reception and sales during the game’s first weeks were very
disappointing. As we have done with past titles, we will continue to support the game and listen
to the community in order to deliver the necessary improvements.
At this stage, we have identified three main reasons behind this underperformance:
• First, it is harder to generate interest for a sequel to a Live multiplayer game, when prior
iterations benefited from years of optimization. Consequently, we need to make sure there
is more time between each iteration of Live games.
• Second, our strategy of introducing gameplay innovations in our games has had a very
positive impact on our brands. However, to win over players, these innovations need to be
perfectly implemented in order to offer an optimal experience. This has not yet been
sufficiently the case with Ghost Recon Breakpoint. While the change of formula has been
very well received by some players, with an average daily playtime per player of over three
hours, it also has been strongly rejected by a significant portion of the community.
• Finally, Ghost Recon Breakpoint did not come in with enough differentiation factors, which
prevented the game’s intrinsic qualities from standing out.
We are tackling these issues head-on and already are implementing significant changes to our
production processes. We are confident in our capacity to adapt and evolve, as we have done
successfully many times in the past.
In this overall context, we have decided to postpone the releases of Gods & Monsters, Rainbow
Six Quarantine and Watch_Dogs Legion until 2020-21. While each of these games already has a
strong identity and high potential, we want our teams to have more development time to ensure
that their respective innovations are perfectly implemented so as to deliver optimal experiences
for players. This decision will have a very significant impact on our financial results for this fiscal
year and goes against our recent successes in building a more stable development model.
However, it is in line with our strategy to maximize the future value of our brands for the longterm benefit of our employees, players and shareholders. We expect it to have a positive impact
on our financial performance as from 2020-21.

Delayed to remove all the micro transactions and leveling grind.
Re: Watch Dogs Legion
And with that I never want to read a CEO's explanation of why a game failed again.
Still

Re: Watch Dogs Legion
SourceUbisoft has confirmed that Watch Dogs Legion, Rainbow Six Quarantine, and Gods and Monsters will all be released as cross-generation games, meaning they will be on PS4 and PS5, and Xbox One and Xbox Scarlett.
Probably the biggest "no shit" ever, but still.

Re: Watch Dogs Legion
I don't see it as a bad thing that the CEO of one of the big boys for once has stopped and said that we need prioritise making a good game and take the time to do it right over releasing a yearly iteration for revenue.

Re: Watch Dogs Legion
I get the feeling next gen, 3rd party developers will need to rethink their games and their business models. The whole charge $60 and then fill the game with boosters/microtransactions isn't going to fly much more, gamers are just walking away.
I know personally I am extremely less enthusiastic to buy and try new AAA titles, it all feels like stuff I've played before except they ruin it by adding mobile gaming mechanics and grindy shit to turn a once enjoyable experience into a "service".
I expect first party to be a bigger thing next gen because 3rd parties and their greed has gotten the best of them.

Re: Watch Dogs Legion
Well yeah it has become ridiculous. Buy a game and then during the initial hours constantly pushed the narrative of the game no matter what type towards scenarios where you are inclined to buy something to either help offline or buy stuff for online. It's no different to when they started pushing season passes (still not sure what that even means relating to games) and basically get some games and then it starts "OH if you want this you'll need the season pass"). Most dlc after the first pack is shite too as sales tailor off so it's all a rip off.lestat wrote:I get the feeling next gen, 3rd party developers will need to rethink their games and their business models. Re: Watch Dogs Legion
Assassin's Creed Odyssey and Far Cry 5 were great games. Not sure WTF happened with Ghost Recon but like Froggy I am glad they're delaying everything to make sure something like that doesn't happen again. I am still super keen for Watch Dogs
I admit I've bought games that in hindsight I shouldn't have given all the games as a service bullshit and I'm going to make much more of an effort to support developers and publishers that do the right thing.

Re: Watch Dogs Legion
Imagine if they took the extra time with Watchdogs 1? That game was just terribly polished at the end, well it got released unpolished, the framerate chugging was unacceptable really.

I'm just keen on an open world game set in London, so sick of American cities and driving on the right. It does look good.
