Well ... That's not going to fit under anyone's TV. Microsoft be like "Fuck it, just release a PC":

I'm guessing you could lay it sidewards to fit it in an entertainment cabinet?

But Now I get the recent 12TF rumors that this will use a big Navi, cooling a monster like that wouldn't work in a traditional console form factor, it had to be more PC like.

100% full compatibility? I can put in Xbox or 360 discs that didn't work on Xbox One and they'll now work?

I'd say it's all the xbox/360 games we have supported now on the one X.

They may start supporting more games after the BC team finish up with series X launch, with much more powerful hardware emulating some problematic older titles may be easier for the team.

Makes sense.

My Xbox One S is misbehaving. If I put a disc in, it won't recognise it. If I turn it off, pull out power cable and plug it back it, turn it back on, it then recognises discs again. I can happily play multiple games and swap discs and it works fine during that session. But each new session I always have to do the power cable thing first. So I have been keeping an eye on cheap One S/X deals but nothing jumped out at me. Will wait and see how much the Series X costs and hope my One S lasts

It's a weird issue I've never heard happen before.

That thing looks massive and I’m not sure on the name. Everything else looks very cool. I think we’re entering Pixar territory!

The console is about 12" by 6" (I calculated using controllers for scale as given) and can be used vertically and horizontally.
Well that's good to know you can use it horizontally, should fit in most entertainment cabinets with those dimensions.

Xbox Series X

Xbox SeX

I know what MS is thinking here. ;)

It’s like a mini pc, not as big as I originally thought. I guess you could put it on its side to fit in your entertainment unit, or have it next to it like a sub.

The good thing is it’s supposed to be super quiet.

I’m just not sure on the name.

So gamespot is confirming the 12TF number

https://www.gamespot.com/articles/xbox- ... 0-6472198/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And when we do the math too, the Series X seems to be hitting around 12 teraFLOPs (the general metric used as shorthand to indicate graphics processing power).

I'm assuming there will be an Xbox Series S too. I wonder how powerful that will be? Still more powerful that the current One X I'm assuming?

Going to be nice having a half decent CPU and SSD as a baseline this next generation. Aside from the rather unconventional appearance so far it looks a lot more compelling than the previous undercooked POS they released. Full backwards compatibility with peripherals and last gen games will be a massive selling point for me on both this and PS5.

Compared to this gen, it looks like both consoles will be pretty decent hardware wise out of the gate.

Just a year’s wait until next-gen 12teraflop goodness. Our tvs have been waiting for this.

I can’t begin to imagine what we’re going to see.

That is one shit name, and holy hell the box is uninspiring. I'll be very interested to see devs finally get access to quality CPU hardware. Will this finally be what makes 8-core CPUs a better choice for gaming than 4-cores? After all, the AMD Jaguar design was based on Bulldozers, and that was basically just hardware-level hyperthreading, not eight individual cores.

I'd get this. Be cool if the old Xbox games were still XBL enabled, could have a PGR2 night on St Basils. :lol:

1 -> 2 -> 3 -> 3.1 -> 95 -> 98 -> Me -> XP -> Vista -> 7 -> 8 -> 8.1 -> 10

Xbox -> Xbox 360 -> Xbox One -> Xbox Series X

We were never going to get even a halfway decent name. Microsoft must adhere to the Hideo Kojima or Street Fighter school of batshit naming conventions.

I want the Xbox X Decoy Octopus Edition EX Alpha.

I like the design. Not fazed by the lazy name. IMO sticking with Series X and Series S for subsequent models makes sense.
