Could be a licensing issue with the vehicles.

Ahh good point, that's probably it. Microsoft probably could have money-hatted their way to some licence extensions but the expected sales of a 4-year old game which is otherwise available for free under Game Pass wouldn't justify it. And I guess Forza 8 will come out soon enough.

Is Forza 7 worth grabbing? Thanks to GP the only cost is the substantial disk space.

I don't think it's very good, but it's the structure that I dislike. Plus the game is designed to always feel like you're battling to get first place but you always just make it before the end of the third lap. It's felt that way for quite a few games. Has some nice tracks though, although I'm not sure what's actually new since I didn't play #6

It's the best Forza game to date but improvements have been very incremental since Forza 5. The 'game' part of it is a bit weak; if you want a game that is highly structured and curated this isn't it. There's no career mode or story. It's really just a sandbox and you have to be happy to make your own fun. You can customise almost anything, including race length, if you want to minimise the rubber banding that Tomby's talking about. You get more prize money for extending the race length so you're not disadvantaged in terms of game progress by doing so - unless you care about achievements for completing all the available races and such.

Also it should be made clear that the game will disappear from Game Pass when it's removed from the Xbox store in September, so you'll have to either be happy playing it for only a month, or stump up the entry price before it disappears.

The automatic homologation of cars is particularly egregious. Like, I know that Lotus is famed for their amazing handling cars, but there is no way that the Exige V6 drives as well as it does in this game. It's... physics-defying.

Also, the car selection is really underwhelming. They basically just copied most of the the cars from Forza Horizon 3, added some trucks, and called it a day. Certainly the driving model is great, but what driving game doesn't include an MR2 of any generation? Obviously I'm biased there hahaha

Thanks for replies. We're (my son and I) still having a ball with Forza Horizon 4 which is easily my best ever driving game. It's ridiculously good and my 6 year old asks me to look at the FH5 countdown clock every time before we start a FH4 session.

They should just hurry the fuck up and add PGR 3 & 4 to the BC list. And also Outrun Online Arcade.

Doubt that'll happen, Outrun was removed because the Ferrari license expired and I expect there would be similar issues with PGR.

A good look at the map. Mexico without the wall?

30fps footage is the only bummer. Very impressive as usual. Crazy amount of vegetation. They must be using some photogrammetry, check out when he drives around the water, those rock/mountains looks amazing.

Given that you have to already own the game to use BC, I can't see the issue with releasing the have, but not for sale. Content licensing is fucked!

Yeah I don't know the exact details on why they can't release the BC compatibility but I remember the announcement that Outrun was going to be removed. MS said a year or two ago that they're prepared to make games BC and are open to suggestions on any other titles the public wants, just needs to be people voicing their preference.

Eternal Sonata. I only managed to play it for maybe half an hour before life started happening for me.
I might not have a 360 anyhow, but I still have a bunch of games for it that can't be played anymore :(

You dodged a bullet there unfunk.
ES starts out strong, but gets very boring and very repetitive very quickly.

Gotta say, Art of Rally is really nice. I had my eye on it, and would have bought it on Switch (probably still will as long as it runs ok), but it's nice to sample it on PC gamepass.

Telstra plus has the expansion back in stock, grabbed one last night quickly as I'm currently juggling installs. I have found whilst I may not play many games at once, I've got flight sim, Forza H and games like that where you constantly jump back in whenever that are starting to eat space now the releases are finally flowing.

Anyone given back 4 blood a go?

Agree, it's like the Richard Burns of top down rally games. I didn't even pay attention to this title until I saw you guys mention it. Have since finished 3 rallies in the first tier, think my next one is 1971 and have just unlocked the Mazda RX3 (think it's called Rotang or something) which I can't wait to try as it's my favourite rotary powered car out of all the Mazda's.

The difficulty sure ramps up once you've unlocked that car, at least in my experience.

Yeah, that rotary is shit, will try the Esky V2 next. Might also have a little fiddle with the handling settings like auto oversteer etc and see if I can make it control a bit better when drifting.

Pretty impressed with the Seagate expansion. Seamless, plug and play no formatting or anything required.

Yes! Forza 7 is great, and for all of the criticisms of its single player: I've probably put more time into its career mode than any other Forza.

Is that only because there hasn't been the usual biennial cadence in the games though?

Good point, that's definitely added to the playtime. I think the current circumstance of my life (time-poor, father) also works well with this format (i.e. high amounts of freedom to just pick up and play).

It's a racing game, what matters most is the racing and to me it's the pinnacle.
