Oh great, controller is drifting to the left. Never had this issue with any other device before including Switch!

It'll still be under warranty provided you have the receipt. If it's not, buy another the same colour then return the drifty one the next day with the receipt.

YES! Finally beat the first boss. (Now I know, it's frustrating how close I was on earlier attempts).
I think I'd gone in thinking it was harder than it really was, and I suffered because of that.
Onto the second biome.

On PS5 controller drift, make sure all your PS5 and controllers are updated to the latest patch and firmware.
I definitely experienced some drift on some of the earlier titles, but it hasn't happened at all for Returnal or anything else recent. It seems to have gone away, and I cycle through both of them.
The Switch on the other hand....my original joycons are essentially useless now. Completely borked.

No ya gallah, just a controller. I did it with my PS4, bought the console when I lived in Adelaide and a few months later when back in NZ the trigger broke. Rang Sony and they wouldn't replace it because I bought it in another country. Ended up buying a new controller, took it home, returned the next day with receipt, original packaging and the broken controller which they replaced. Boom, 2 new controllers for the price of 1.

They were sent out ages ago. Might've gotten lost in the mail as I didn't ask for a tracking number. I could send some new ones but there may be a few grey hairs.

Some EB Games are receiving PS5 stock today. Their website is five types of broken and they're not answering their phones, so I nicked off from work and went to the closest store... Stock will arrive somewhere between 3pm and 6pm at this particular store, you can't pre-order them or even get a phone call when they come in, you have to just wait in person at the store like a complete mong. Difficult when I have meetings every hour or so for the rest of the day. First in best dressed, then they're opening pre-orders again with expected fulfillment in July. Absolute shitshow.

Explains why I just saw someone walk out of the shopping centre holding a PS5.

Just completed my second lap back to the store. Staff have changed, and there's now a small army of neckbeards gathering at the entrance. Not boding well, but I'll try again in an hour.

I hope the store gets more than 2 - 3 in then or it's going to be on, full neck beard tantrums coming!

Neckbeard battle royale would at least be entertaining. I might try taking a cheap anime DVD and flinging it away from the store entrance as a diversion.

Regarding my DS stick drift, I was told by WP users that you can just go to an EB, produce your receipt and they’ll replace it.

I rang up my local EB and he said I have to go through Sony first and if they can’t fix it, they will give me a reference number that I provide EB then they give me a new one!

I tried another EB and they were happy to give me a new one, I just gave them my old one ( showed them my receipt, they stapled another invoice on it) and I walked out of there with a new controller and spent the next 10 minutes trying to find where I parked..

Once home I played a game and behold, no drift! Has that new car smell that I like.

Nabbed the second last unit, if I was even 30 seconds later I would have missed out.

I just skipped as much of the setup as possible and started downloading Destiny 2.

Returnal will be the first legitimately new game. Will also download Wreckfest and see what the fuss is about. I'll end up getting Demon's Souls and probably the new R&C when it drops. Looks like a fair few PS4 games that I never got around to playing have enhanced PS5 versions too, might finally be time to give Horizon a crack. I'm going to need some annual leave.

Congrats Gamma. That's good timing to be honest, as its been slim pickings up to now.
But yeah, Returnal is pretty good, and R+C just around the corner.

Flip, I've nearly finished PS5 Wreckfest campaign. :D
Won't stop me from buying a disc version when it drops.
All the PS5 upgrades have just made it even better (and I've been playing it on PC also). Seriously, second best racing game ever after PGR2.

I’m tempted to buy a month of PS Plus to play it but unsure if the save file is compatible with the retail disc, so I will just continue to watch YT videos..

Demon’s Souls is really something. I’m not that good at it but it sure is fun learning enemies attack movement and when to strike or parry , unlocking shortcuts, and the whole complete package is first rate. I’m not finding it frustrating when I die. It’s usually due to me taking risks and loading back into the game is near instant. Controller vibration, haptic feedback and adaptive triggers is like a tech demo of the dual sense .

Nothing better than playing this on a cold winter night in the dark .

I’m still in the early stages where you’re in some kind of castle, but visuals are first rate. The way things break and crumble up as your roll into them is fun . Much better than using your sword to destroy them ( and make it blunt) I’m slowly learning things, been watching YT tips and how other people play without being too spoilerish. I know it cost an arm and a leg to buy like other first party titles. It’s totally worth it ( obviously try and find it cheap, price match or pick it up second hand) and a great introduction to the capabilities of the system.

My PS5 keeps turning on itself, when powered off. It’s not even in rest mode.

In some instances it seems to be detecting the sound of my slippers across the floor, as if they’re saying “PlayStation, PlayStation”.

It’s rather annoying.

I still haven't figured out the ins and outs of the headset that's apparently built into the controller. Was fairly confident I'd turned it off in Settings (set it to default to off on startup), but last night I could hear someone in my game quietly speaking through the controller speaker. Had a proper senior moment holding it close to my face and asking if they could hear me.

So while I've installed it and applied all updates, I still haven't gotten around to Returnal. I have however picked up Demon's Souls, and holy shitballs. Almost certainly the nicest looking game I've played. Audio is fantastic as well, I imagine it would be amazing in surround. Only had one quick session so far, but I'm really looking forward to continuing with it. Seems easier than I remember, but I don't know whether there's actually been a change in difficulty from the original, if it's a consequence of the increased framerate, or I've just ploughed through enough of these games that they're a bit more approachable now.

Biggest improvement by far is the load times though, with all games, not just Demon's Souls. Destiny 2 loads faster than my PC- loading into a new activity is bottlenecked only by matchmaking, menu's are so snappy you can comfortably change equipped weapons while under fire, and the awkward load points in strikes are a distant memory. I've got to make sure I check the modifiers for activities before launching them, as there's no longer time to move the cursor all the way across to them from the launch button. The gameplay itself feels faster too, which I can only attribute to the larger screen as the resolution, framerate and FOV are the same as on PC.

I've also played a bit of Wreckfest. This kind of game isn't usually my thing- the last time I would have played something similar was Destruction Derby 2. Yet I'm quite enjoying it. It's nice to have a fuck-around racing game to wind down with, and I'm slowly chipping away at the campaign. It seems like the kind of game where you should be able to get Outrun levels of sideways on corners, but I always seem to lose too much speed. There doesn't appear to be any slipstreaming from what I can tell either, so the top 3 is often decided by the second corner and the rest of the race is just avoiding fucking up too badly. Fun game in any case.

Looks pretty decent for cross gen game. 60fps option would be most welcome.

Hoping this gets a PC release sooner rather than later. Just finished the first game, was very impressed. Looks good, more an update of the gameplay mechanics, animation and improving the fidelity of the world. Would buy a PS5 just for this game but that is next to impossible so hoping for a PC release.
