Ehhh. It's nice to have, but to be honest, you're not really missing much. Yet. Not that the XSX is any better.
That'll likely change when Recturnal, Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart and Horizon Forbidden Wilds drop.

Next gen (on the Xbox side) doesn't start until Halo Infinite drops.

Even if certain Xbots don't rate its importance anymore, I can't think of a bigger upcoming Xbox game.

It does look good. Didn't think of it cos I just couldn't get into the original even though I really wanted to.

I’m honestly just feigning indignation when I say, hey - all you Xbots are shitting up my PS5 thread!!1!

I went back and completed the main story in Spiderman, which gave me some time to experiment and play with the ray-tracing. It’s really quite amazing to me and I’m piqued for the possibilities of true next gen titles.

My neighbour has been complaining about the subwoofer of the surround system he gave me. Turns out he never hooked it up properly! So I bought a set of the 3D headphones.

They don’t have the punch of the 5.1 system, but wow the ability to pinpoint sound sources also feels very next generation.

Originally the music in Dirt 5 annoyed me how it faded in and out. With the headphones I came to understand that I was driving around a concert playing in the middle of the track. I could pinpoint the stage.

I can’t wait to show them to my son when he comes down this weekend. He’s going to slay noobs in Fortnite with them.

New VR controllers revealed for the PS5. I can imagine immersion being better but we need to see an improvement in software otherwise I can imagine buyers remorse sinking in again.

I meant these free games were because of Gamepass. Well that’s what I think.

With next-gen PSVR, we won’t be getting a totally wireless solution, but just one cable connection please.

Even with that it’s hard going back to being tethered to something after you’ve played the Quest/2.

Returnal out tomorrow. Cheapest price is $108 Amazon. No interest in this type of game and I have enough to play.

While I do think that games being pretty much the same price since the PSone days is unsustainable, in the age of Game Pass so is this.

Looks like we're already at 1080p.

Game uses a 1080p internal resolution that uses TAA upscaling to get to 1440p, then they checkerboard that to 4k.

Didn't think we'd be here so soon.

Haven’t watched the video but it uses RT GI. Their particles look really nice quality, I wonder if they are full resolution.

Like to try it out if they had a demo.

I’m getting back into Demon’s Souls Remake. The only other Souls-type game I have played is Bloodborne. I was going to start the game from the beginning as I hadn’t played it for months but decided to continue on with my last save, still very early on in the game but made some progress.

Really nice playing this at 60fps with near-instant loading.

Good use of the DS. I’m watching a fair bit of videos, like best builds and tips. Pretty much everything is on YT. I remember having to use GameFaqs back in the day.

Edit: Reading from Era, not RT GI:

It doesn't have ray tracing, it just uses the RT hardware acceleration to improve the GI performance.

So I've spent about a solid 4 hour block on it.
The graphics and sound are both phenomenal. Youtube and reviews do not do this game justice at all.
The gameplay is very solid fun.
The atmosphere is amazing.
Worth the high entry price? For me, yeah sure. I have no regrets. Certainly not for everyone though.
I'm not very good either.

I'm still only now coming to terms with how you're meant to play it, and what all the different systems mean.
I haven't got out of the first biome yet. I've had a couple of cracks at what I think is the Biome boss, but can only get down to about half health.
This should have been an amazing launch title. It really showcases the PS5 nicely.

I got my PS5 on Thursday night.
The haptic controllers are very cool.
Got it all properly set up to run at 4k on my 4k TV (had old hdmi cables going into my old blurry home theatre box... sorted now!)
Bought Returnal as my first true next gen game. I love these types of games but felt a bit unsure.. mainly as I keep ditching Horizon Zero Dawn for new shiny games.. glad I did it though. Got to the first boss but died... am loving the look and feel. Knew I recognised the voice actor too - its Rogue from Cyberpunk.
All in all.. looks fantastic.. sounds fantastic.. and it plays so buttery smooth.
Will break through to the second biome today!
