Announced four months before release and only $50. Not sure what to expect.

Zero interest in MP, will wait to hear more about the campaign and what other single player modes are available (skirmish mode against bots?)

VR compatibility confirmed though, so that will be cool.

Need a next gen Han Solo-type simulator.
Currently playing: Age of Empires 2: Definitive Edition (PC), Far Cry 4 (PC), FIFA 23 (Series X)

Agreed, something like that VR Star Trek game where you all play a roll. Make it 5 player. Two can play that hologram chess game, two can pilot and one can be a whinging gay robot.

It appears that the first official details about Star Wars Squadrons have been leaked online. According to the leaked press release, Star Wars Squadrons will release on October 2nd. Not only that, but the game will come out on all three major digital stores (Steam, Origin and Epic Games Store).

Star Wars Squadrons will be a first-person space dogfighting game set after the events of Return of the Jedi. The game is developed by Motive Studios and will include both single-player and multi-player campaigns. Furthermore, the game will support cross-play between PC, Xbox One and PS4.

Electronic Arts has also confirmed that the PC version will support VR from the get-go.

The publisher will release a brand new trailer for this new Star Wars game later today. Moreover, EA will release a proper gameplay trailer/video at EA Play 2020, on June 18th.

We’ll be sure to update this story once the official announcement trailer is available!

Full flightstick and HOTAS support
Also VR is PC only, guessing the game is too demanding to run on PS4 in VR mode. Confirmed to be running frostbite engine.

Steam page is up.

Seems like the MP modes can be played with bots, so that has me a bit more interested.

5v5 does sound like it will get a bit samesy after a while though, especially in space where I always imagine epic battles.

Ahh sweet, cheers. Initial reports was VR only on PC. I could be keen on this just for the single player campaign.

Having fun so far with this. It'd be a sweaty, foggy, blurry mess in VR, at least I would be. It's been ages since I got into a flight game so this is going to take a while in multiplayer.

I just can't get into Star Wars games. They make me feel like I'm being asked to buy into all that lore that's just too full of really sloppy holes and a franchise that just couldn't keep its head on straight. It strikes me as a mess I don't want to get closer to, which is a shame if a Star Wars game happens to actually be a great game. I just see that logo and don't want in.

I just played through the battlefront 2 campaign and it was pretty clunky and buggy. Story wasn't too bad and added a lot of context to the sequels. Which is exactly what's wrong with Star wars today. The sequels rely too heavily on other mediums that people will probably never come across to fill in the blanks.

Star wars games never used to be like this. They could tell their own contained story without the player needing to know much about the lore. Since it didn't affect canon.

All people needed to know was guns go pew pew and the force goes whoosh.
