Re: But can it run Crysis?
Played it recently and it holds up. The final sequences and boss fights are pretty glitchy though. Will be pleased to have that fixed up.
Still have to get around to 2 & 3.

Doesn’t look that hot. 7GB says a lot.

Re: But can it run Crysis?
Maybe a little early to judge until they release the video, the teaser is 60fps so there's that.
DF thoughts on what we might get and some history.

7GB? There are hotfixes bigger than that these days.
And isn't it getting a Switch port too?

Re: But can it run Crysis?
Getting OG Crysis to run on a modern PC is a sisyphean task. Even if you get it to run, playing at 4k60 is still next to impossible on anything but really high-end gear. It really is the meme that keeps on giving.
I'll be happy enough if they port it to them latest CryEngine and enable the fancy featureset.

Re: But can it run Crysis?
Seems like the original PC version is 7gb on Steam and other digital stores (and rips) so maybe it's a placeholder. Otherwise it's just the 360 version running on the XBOX. (Any one notice that XBOX is short for Xbox One X?)

This is not a xbox exclusive game and it was all leaked early media possibly place holder.t0mby wrote:Sony game = "Look at that frame rate from this early video trololololol looks shit"lestat wrote:Maybe a little early to judge until they release the video, the teaser is 60fps so there's that.

Show me where I made such comments on a leaked early Sony video btw?

Re: But can it run Crysis?
I'm certain I never made judgements like that on leaked unofficial media.
You're as fake as Sony prerelease media t0mby, please depart this thread and leave it to people who buy top end equipment and understand.

Re: But can it run Crysis?
Comparison video of the leaked video.
What a real mixed bag here, some things look better, some things are worse, clearly this needs more time in the oven, it should look better on all accounts.
It's pretty cool how the original still holds up today, still a great looking game, I kinda prefer the colors of the original, they look more natural and cohesive to me.

Re: But can it run Crysis?
After watching that, I have a theory.
We should all know by now the story of how Crysis was developed at a strange time in computer technology. There were two competing schools of thought; that frequency would win out over efficiency and thread count, and vice versa. We all know how that panned out.
The console ports of Crysis weren't just straight ports; they were running on CryEngine 3, which was much better suited to multithreading, and not so reliant on obscene frequency. What we're seeing in the leaked video is that console port backported to PC with a couple of tweaks. This would explain the weird textures and missing geometry.

Re: But can it run Crysis?
Yeah I think you nailed it, this looks like they took the original 360/ps3 ports and tried to upgrade it to match the original PC version better. As you're already said, those ports already had a codebase running on cryengine 3, it would be straight forward for saber to take it and improve it.

Re: But can it run Crysis?
Original presentation looks much better to me too. The colour palette mainly. The Core levels look really washed out in the remaster (the zero gravity sections) and they're one of the game's more famous and gorgeous sequences. It's followed by the still gorgeous fight down the snowy mountain. Both are still stunning to look at in the orginal game. It would be redundant to release a remaster that downgrades these visuals.
Though on the other hand it would reaffirm the legend of Crysis where it remains visually superior to its remaster 13 years later.

It’s a remaster and it’s available on Switch. I’ll stick to the original with mods thanks.

Re: But can it run Crysis?
That's pretty impressive for the Switch. Forgot how bad the PS3 version looked but granted that tech was older than the PC tech was when the game launched but it did play really well and I enjoyed it (apart from the last act)

Re: But can it run Crysis?
Jesus H. Christ, they sure upped their game here. Interestingly, there's still a couple of bits where the original game look a little better in the side-by-side.
I'm fully expecting nobody to be able to run this at 4K Ultra for a while though, thanks to ray tracing...
