Tony Hawk 1&2 Remastered

Post by t0mby »

Anyone picked this up? Forgot it came out yesterday and I was even in EB too so popped in today during work to grab it. Loved the first game, was my favourite out of all of them.

Will post impressions tonight or tomorrow.

Picked it up off Epic Store last night - the $15 COVID coupon is still in effect - makes it the cheapest version at $54AUD. Looks awesome, controls about the same. I never played the first Tony Hawk so I was wondering what was going on when I fired it up - it dumped me straight into the original. I only had time to do the tutorial stage, so many nostalgia feels. I sunk a lot of time into the second game on the Dreamcast so that's where I am headed later today. I am not a fan of Activision but if companies continue to play on my nostalgia feels like this game does I will continue to buy
ANATHEMATIC ILLIMITED, TRANSFATAL EXPRESS, VIRAL INCORPORATED, INTERNATIONAL EPIDEMICS & MENSTRUAL MOTORCYCLES.

Managed to give it a solid hour of playtime, made it up to the first skate park competition (4th area?). I know this is all updated and 4k hdr but in my head it's exactly as I remembered. The level design has held up really well, totally stood the test of time. 20 years later though and my skills have deteriorated.

Focusing on THPS1 because to me that was the best in the series. Removing the downhill runs after the first game was a mistake imo. Totally looking forward to the dam level. The amount of unlocks and challenges in this is insane. A fantastic remaster, solid game and worth every penny.

Haven’t played it but I’ve seen footage of it, and the animations don’t look much improved from the original.

The latest patch included improvements to animations, was mentioned in the patch notes.

I am getting absolutely hammered with advertising for this. Never really liked the controls, gameplay in Skate is orders of magnitude better IMO. Apparently there's a new one in the works but I'm not naive enough to get excited about an upcoming EA game.

A patch to improve animations?

That's not a patch, that's finishing a game after it's been released.
