Well that's me owned. I'll have to go play some more Final Fantasy to make up for it.

Incorrect use of the word more.

One does not say "I will paint some more of the house" unless they have already painted some of the house.

Lend me the SNES and NES ones then, I've played the rest (bar XII).

You can pick up FF1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 locally for PS1. FF 1 - 5 are also available locally on GBA and DS, with FF6 for GBA out in the USA (no idea if it'll get a local release).

You wouldn't be able to play FF2, 3, or 5 on NES/SNES as they're in japanese only, and FF4 doesn't count on SNES because it was horribly butchered for the sake of making it easier for the apparently dumb american audience.

I'd recommend you stay away from FFV, though. The last thing you need right now is a 10 year old videogame proving your "FF games have dads as bad guys" claim wrong.

Hehe it's like something from a cartoon. It probably tried to chase a mouse down the drain and got stuck. (is that real?)

It's out and shipping now.

Mine didn't make the cut because I had stupidly ordered it with another item I just assumed would be out the same day, since both items were listed to release on the same day... fuckers...

Anyway, order corrected, now I should have it by tuesday.

22gig's all up. Probably a good example of something that would either benifit from more ingame cutscenes, or blueray.

I don't care about that. I'm more speaking from a production side of things, something with that much data would fit onto one dvd with ingame cutscenes, unless it had shitloads of uncompressed audio.

So the reviews of this game are mostly sounding quite average. The Metacritic score is 79/100 at the moment. *groan* This is a let down. I really liked the demo, but a demo for an RPG is never much to go by.

I'm pondering what to do now. I've already got a pre-order all paid up so I'll still get it. But now... I dunno... it might turn out to be an EB rental.

Hmph. =/

Yeah, I'm disappointed too. I also enjoyed the demo, but story is so crucial in an RPG, and it sounds like it's pretty boring most of the way.

I wouldn't mind hearing impressions from you and Grey though, so get on it! I might turn my attention to Eternal Sonata though..

Yeah. If the story isn't there then the rest of it becomes pointless, no matter how good the rest of the game may be.

What I find confusing though is how different the impressions have been. I mean, when the game came out in Japan, many people who imported it (and I assume could understand moonspeak) were raving on about how good it was. But now we have several reviews trashing it.

Overhyped? Or misunderstood? Or both? Haha.

One thing also worth noting was it did get good reviews over in Japanland. Famitsu gave it 37/40.
