SEGA Mega Drive Mini 2 - No West date yet

Post by Froggy »

Mega Drive Mini 2 was announced for Japan earlier this month for release Oct 27 2022 and now it's coming to the west but no details as of yet for pre-orders release dates. This time they've moved into Sega-CD territory so not many games announced yet but there'll be more than fifty including a new version of Fantazy Zone.

IGN: https://www.ign.com/articles/sega-mega- ... s-included

Stand outs to me already - Virtua Racing/SonicCD/Shining Force CD/After Burner

Also they are releasing the flight stick controller for this so I'm expecting more flying games:

Looks like the controller is going to cost more alone than the console lol https://www.gizmodo.com.au/2022/06/sega ... 2-console/

Every Game Confirmed for the Sega Mega Drive Mini 2
Silpheed (Mega CD)
Shining Force CD (Mega CD)
Sonic CD (Mega CD)
Mansion of Hidden Souls (Mega CD)
Popful Mail (Mega CD)
Virtua Racing (Mega Drive)
Bonanza Bros (Mega Drive)
Shining in the Darkness (Mega Drive)
Thunder Force IV (Mega Drive)
Magical Taruruto (Mega Drive)
Fantasy Zone (Mega Drive port)

Titles 12 - 22 announced last week (I think):
After Burner II
Columns III: Revenge of Columns
Megapanel
Nadia: The Secret of Blue Water
Out Run
Puzzle & Action: Ichidant-R
Splatterhouse 2
Star Mobile
SEGA / Mega CD Titles[\b]
Night Striker
The Ninja Warriors
Starblade

Also an accessories kit so you can attach a Sega-CD to it and I think a couple of fake cds\catridges for $35USD so probably 50 or 60 bucks here.

I am sorely tempted to buy the whole lot, but I have a MegaSG and Mega Everdrive Pro which has completely replaced my OG Megadrive Mini..

I remember renting one of the Virtua Racings but can't remember if it was the MD or 32X version. I know I was impressed at the time given the tech.

North America now has the 27th Oct release date as well, no word on Europe and us yet but think it is probably safe to assume it's either the 27th Oct as well or close. Another batch of games announced focusing on fighting for the West, not sure what we'll get instead for about 6 of these Japanese titles:

Cartridge games:

Aah! Harimanada
Alien Soldier
Fatal Fury 2
Gyuwanburaa Jikochuushin Ha Katayama Masayuki no Majong Dojo
Spatter
Super Street Fighter 2: The New Challengers
Tatsujin
Sega/Mega CD games:

Final Fight CD
Lunar: Eternal Blue
Lunar: The Silver Star
Wondermega Collection

I wonder if they'll give export regions the 6-button pad this time...

Yeah pretty sure. I believe everything is shipping from Amazon Japan for all geos (apac/eur too eventually), so would all be the same product just repackaged with power adapters etc in Japan.

When were they last in stock out of curiosity? Did you have to wait for yours/how often do they come in stock etc. ?

hmmmm I'm probably no help, I'm sorry. I got mine two years ago, and it was readily in stock at that time.. Same goes for the Mega Everdrive Pro. Although that dude is Ukrainian, so who knows what could happen there...

Order placed! Live on Amazon uk now with shipping to Aus. I think about 192 aud incl shipping so not cheap but the addition of night trap on an official release made me not care about the price.
