Watching that made me realise how burnt I am by Superstars. I heard those Sonic rings chimes and felt like "No. F*** this. I'm out. More Sonic bulls***."

But I kept watching and yeah, was good. I'll say only Jet Set excited me really, but damn it looked good. They did right to start that with Jet Set.

The others looked ok, but I'm not so interested in those that looked like a complete new game; ie., the 2D to 3D transition visible in SoR and GA. I was never into Shinobi, and Crazy Taxi was fun, but very fast to burn out. Plus if Crazy Taxi doesn't have The Offspring literally what is the point.

Shenmue a no show, even though it was the most requested game by fans at the time they sort of blew it with 3. The anime even got cancelled after one season.

JSR and CT needs to have the original tunes back!

I have to concede that I had mocked the "big announcement" they had teased thinking it was likely a virtual idol game or some shit.

I will admit that seeing JSR had me exclaim with excitement.
Then seeing Streets of Rage? I was shocked. Though I will say that SOR didn't look nearly as impressive.. it looked a bit lame..

Shinobi looked like a dot emu game which.. is fine but it didn't have the next gen feel of the other two.

Golden Axe looked VERY interesting though the last golden axe game was terrible - so hopefully they don't fuck this one up also. It did look good though.

Crazy Taxi looked cool but it was never really my cup of tea but then. Soundtrack will be vital to this.

All in all - it's nice to see Sega actually listening to us. I'd love to see a new Panzer game or an update to Shining Force or Skies of Arcadia.. the latter would be a huge task I feel buuuut they seem to be taking on the abovementioned games.. so perhaps they've realised that they DO have a worthwhile catalogue of great IP.

They did say there's more coming so hopefully more. Shenmue Sega refused to touch hence Yu had to do it on his own with no budget but yeah how about a new Alex Kidd etc as well. I really am intrigued by the Golden Axe remake here that looked very interesting and crazy taxi I still play on planes etc now so I'm pumped for a new one. I'm wondering if it might be a Sega ages types pack for a few of them and stand alone for others?

Getting the original creators in for JSR at least tells me they are really trying this time.

I'm pretty confident that they'll score most of the original composers from JSR and JSRF. Hideki Naganuma I reckon will jump at it no questions asked.

I'd love remasters of these. Just remasters.

So it's not a given that JSR would have its original tunes? That's a doh. But I suppose yeah as long as the original composer/s are around, that works too.

Some of this footage looks like it's from fan games.

...that's a good thing, given the quality disparity between the official games and fan games over the past twenty years or so

You'd think they'd consider it but the issue now is that Sega doesn't have much in the way of recent fighting games to draw from. They've honestly been pretty absent so I don't know if they'd pull together a roster that is really worth looking at.. VF characters likely.. but it's slim pickings past that.

Having the original music would be good but I don't see this JSR being a remaster.. it looks like a reboot and I'd think they would be looking for music that is a bit more recent.

I don't think they need to - they only had a few fighting games to choose from when they made the original game - VF 1-3, VF Kids, Sonic The Fighters, and Fighting Vipers. Now they've had a bunch of Virtua Fighter sequels, another Fighting Vipers, and Last Bronx. They could probably organise a crossover with Tekken and/or Dead or Alive. If not, what's to stop them from just shoehorning in a bunch of characters from non-fighting games like they did with the first game? It was pretty fun to play as Rentahero. the Daytona car, and that chick from Virtua Cop

Sega hasn't done a Fighting Vipers in 20 years. Their only recent fighting game is Virtua Fighter 5. Megamix worked for the most part in that they had VF3 and Fighting Vipers as the main pool of fighters with extra randoms thrown in.
To make it viable they would bring Fighting Vipers up to speed in terms of new moves... Last Bronx would need a full overhaul.
You could assume some sort of Shenmue inclusion but for the most part.. you've got too many fighting games with differing styles.. most of them languishing behind VF... I can't see Sega wanting to bring them all up to speed in terms of working in a new engine or redoing/creating new moves for characters. Megamix worked because the characters were all done and they had their moves already.

Holy sheet, that was the best trailer in years. Will buy all on general principle but that Jet Set Radio trailer, unbelievable. I really hope they resurrect Skies of Arcadia in some form. Still my favourite JRPG of all time.
