What PSP game should I get next?

Post by Jub-Jub »

Hey all

Need some help deciding what PSP game to get next. I bought my PSP January this year and I've got two games Wipeout and Armoured Core. I was planning to buy many games when they came out such as SOCOM, Street Fighter, Field Commander, Daxter, etc, but I lost interest in PSP due to lack of games available and those ones weren't out yet.

Lately I've been playing Wipeout a lot again, that game is great for a quick spin anytime, im sortof glad I didn't get some other games for PSP because I think I got full value out of it. The PSP is great as a bedside console for playing in bed usually before sleep.

Anyhow it appears that some good games have come out for PSP now so im planning to buy some more. Here are some I know of that im interested in, but please name more if you think they are worthy. My favourite kinds of games are arcade, action, fps, etc, i.e. games that are good for a quick spin. These games are especially good on portables.

Let me know what you think of these:

SOCOM
Street Fighter Alpha Max
Field Commander
Daxter
Loco Roco

Any other suggestions?

Despite what you said in the Loco Roco thread, get Loco Roco next. Just remember your opinion is WRONG </Lex Luther> and buy it.

Daxter - Really REALLY good as a pickup and play platformer, would be considered a good 3D platformer even if it wasn't on a handheld, highy reccomended.

Loco Roco - Quite simply, GOTY.. Hard to describe but if you want a quick spin game this fits the bill and is superb.

SFA MAX - I love it, but I'm OK on the PSP D-Pad, others arn't.. As a conversion it is great, has kept me entertained on a number of trips. Bison is a whore.

You've listed some great games, personally I'd choose Field Commander.

Either SOCOM or Daxter. I'd have to play SOCOM first though to see how it controls with only one analog stick.

I'm not much of a Street Fighter fan and didn't really enjoy the Loco Roco demo either Image

Get the one that will increase the overall value enough that you can trade it all in for a DS Lite.

Van your idea isn't half bad.

I envy DS owners. They get to have good games on their system :(

The Balmain tiger is so much better than the Richmond tiger... your one is facing the wrong way and looks like it just got hit in the face.

I wish I could recommend Street Fighter Alpha 3, but the d-pad is just woeful and makes the game unplayable. :(

I think you should get Breath of Fire 3 :D

Well I ended up getting Daxter today, its a great little game.

I decided not to get SFA3 because I know how crap the PSP D-pad is from playing Darkstalkers. When I bought Darkstalkers earlier this year in January, I took it back to EB and exchanged it for another game within about 2 hours, because it was just unplayable. I knew that SFA3 would be similarly unplayable, plus SFA3 is old anyway.

Im definetly going to get Syphon Filter when it comes out, but it doesn't come out unitl the 31st of August here so I'll have to wait. I think i'll wait for it instead of getting SOCOM. Daxter should keep me occupied until then.
