Gameboy Micro $49.95 @ David Jones

Post by van »

I dunno if David Jones is in every state, or if it's a nation-wide sale, but I saw in a brochure this morning that the Gameboy Micro is $49.95 at David Jones at the moment. That's fucking rad.

What does it play? GBC, GBA, and GBSP games?

wiikid. If I hadn't already got one for $50 recently then I'd be all over this.

True portability it its finest!

Can it be used to play FF: Crystal Chronicles, and Zelda: Four Swords?

I mean like, the Gamecube games that use GBA's as control pads.

does it have the port for connecting it up to a Gamecube via that special GBA cable.

There is a four player Final Fantasy (in name only really) game that's really quite awesome, but you have to use a GBA as your controller with a cable plugged in between your Cube and your GBA (or SP).

There's also a four player Zelda game that's the same.

I'm wondering if the Micro has the port on top for plugging in the cube > gba cable basically :P

I think it does but you have to re purchase the appropriate cables.

Or hack them depending how awesome you are!

This is what the manual told me anyhow.

it plays GBA games only (if you didn't know, gba sp is the same system and will play the same games) - unless you use a flashcard and emulate them

no, it won't connect directly to the cube, but you can get an adaptor for the cables
so it'd be cube->cable->adapter->micro
i'm not sure i'd really want to play those two games that much, they're not that great
fun and all but nothing mind blowing, you know

haha MORE CABLES OH MY GOD

The GBA series will end up taking up more space in my house than the XBox's I've had, so many versions/cables/adaptors/etc.

Does the micro have headphones out without an adapter?

Meh the DS Lite is small enough for me to be portable anyway, and the idea of tracking down new cables to play Four Swords and Crystal Chronicles makes me a bit angry.

I'll see it in the flesh before deciding but leaning against picking one up for now.

Look out for the DS version of FF:CC, sonic. Bout the Micro I can confirm this is happening in Adelaide, was bloody tempted but instead I picked a different bargain.

Metroid Prime 2: Echos for $30 at Kmart. Sale started today. Starfox assult and Paper mario are also available for $50.

If you don't allready own paper mario and you didn't buy it you are a retard total.

I am looking out for the DS version of FF:CC, I'm also looking out for the Rev version of FF:CC.

If I go to DJ's tonight and they have a cheap micro and Micro -> Cube connector cable I will probably buy it to replace my SP + connector cable, but if both of those things arn't in stock + cheap I'll just live with my crappy SP and DS lite.

Well I didn't have any of those 3 games, but I figured an NTSC copy of mario for $40 from DVDcrave is fine later on. Anyway I like to shoot :P

Poor form Boomy, Paper Mario is one of the best games of this generation, so obviously top2cube material.

First up, I don't think the Micro cables are purchasable locally - at least, I've never seen them, and I have been looking.

The thing you'll probably want is a convertor cable like this one:
http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?catego" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; ... s_id=7479&

That only turns a GB Micro's socket into a GBA/SP socket, you'll still need your GBA<->GBA link cable to link to a GBA/SP, or a GBA-GC link cable to link to a GC.

Secondly, if I recall correctly, NTSC Paper Mario is one of a handful of games that doesn't work properly through Freeloader. But it might be just the JP version. I know there was some crashing issue related to text display.

Edit: Yeah, sorry to scare you. It's only the JP version of Paper Mario that doesn't work properly with the Freeloader. The US version is fine.[/url]

Gah editing took longer than I intended - so to repeat my previous post - US Paper Mario is fine on freeloader, only the JP version is screwy. And I haven't tried using any AR codes on my only imported GC game, but my friend has used AR codes on JP games on his PAL Cube so yeah I'm pretty sure it works.
