Great doco on Creative Assembly if you haven't seen it before.
I forgot they did the PC port of the original FIFA, and the 90s AFL games. Loved them back in the day.

And these:
Bunch of freebies for Sega's 60th birthdayThe weeklong festivities kick off beginning with the free games being released on Steam, alongside a host of discounts on Sega titles. All the games will be available for a limited time until October 19, before they will be permanently removed from Steam.
October 15 sees the first title released, with a new game released each on the following free days. Armor Of Heroes drops first and will be a competitive local multiplayer retro-inspired tank game, with co-op options available. The next day will see Endless Zone joining the selection and is described as a side-scrolling shooter which will merge the worlds of The Endless and Fantasy Zone.
Moving onto October 17, Streets Of Kamurocho blends the Yakuza series with Streets Of Rage to concoct an intense side-scrolling beat ‘em up. Finally, the day after Golden Axed will drop, a never-before-seen glimpse at a canned project called Golden Axe: Reborn. Each of the free games will be available until October 19 when they will be removed completely.
I've added those games onto my Steam Wishlist so I don't forget.

So, I can never remember which of the Mishra brothers he is, but I'm pretty sure "Golden Axed" was written buy our very own Sonic Jam. At the very least, there's a connection to this forum.
Here's an interesting thread on it from one of the other team members (who by some extraordinary coincidence also worked on Assault Android Cactus):

I saw that, and when I saw they also made Assault Android Cactus I thought "oh no, I think they post on the Ranch".
For what it's worth, I just played through Golden Axed, and a bit bummed it was canned.
Fuck Sega.

Re: Bargain thread
What's the deal with getting them through the app? I can only select Play Now, didn't even give me an option to actually grab them. They were just on my watch list, then suddenly Play Now.

Re: Bargain thread
They seem to be set up as if they are free to play games rather than a game that happens to be free (if that makes sense). Like the Sonic 2 and NiGHTS giveaways were more traditional giveaways that normally cost money.
The latter can be re-installed at any time once you've claimed them, but I'm not sure what will happen if I uninstall one of these and try to reinstall now that the event is over.

Ubisoft are doing a 12 months of Christmas thing through UPlay. Forgot to mention it yesterday when it started (Assassin's Creed Valhalla DLC, regardless of where you claim it, you can access it on any platform, and it'll just sit in your account until you buy the game, which is pretty cool). Today it's a free game: Starlink: Battle for Atlas.

December 21 - "Assassins Creed Origins"
December 22 - "Metal Gear Solid V"
December 23 - "Evil Within 2"
December 24 - "Far Cry 5"
December 25 - "Fallout 4"
December 26 - "Borderlands 3"
December 27 - "Monster Hunter Worlds"
December 28 - "Dragon Age Inquisition"
December 29 - "Horizon Zero Down"

Re: Bargain thread
Well the first one was wrong. It was Cities.
I have to say I'm thankful/hopeful that it's fake. The list has some huge hits for sure, but look at its range of genres... pretty dire. And slightly aged AAA games are great and all, but I can only take so many mainstream titles. I would happily replace a few titles there with something like what we got with Slime Rancher, For the King, or Horace.
I'd be keen on Monster Hunter, Hitman 2, Borderlands 3, and Witcher 3 from that list though. Uff... too many sequels in one sentence.
Gotta admit, Horizon for free on PC? That would be pretty tasty...

Isn't Starlink the one you needed the matching toys to go with?Ambrose Burnside wrote:Ubisoft are doing a 12 months of Christmas thing through UPlay. Re: Bargain thread
I believe the toys were optional on console (could buy extra ships digitally instead) and were never compatible with the PC version (I believe the PC version comes with most, if not all, the ships in the base game).Froggy wrote:Isn't Starlink the one you needed the matching toys to go with?Ambrose Burnside wrote:Ubisoft are doing a 12 months of Christmas thing through UPlay. Today's Ubisoft freebie is Trials Rising, the latest in the Trials series
PS: I'm glad the leaked Epic list was fake. Most of the games are excellent, but I also own most of them, but have only finished two (Dragon Age Inquisition and Andromeda) I do hope Borderlands 3 and Horizon Zero Dawn is included though!

Re: Bargain thread
If you missed any of the Ubsoft deals (which end today), you can claim them all in one hit today. Free games are:
- Starlink: Battle for Atlas
- Trials Rising
- Anno 1701 History Edition (The History Edition arrives with the full base game, the Sunken Dragon expansion, expanded multiplayer functionality, and engine improvements to allow running on modern machines with features like multi-screen support.)
Plus DLC for a bunch of recent games like Valhalla and Watch Dogs: Legion. The best part about the DLC is that they'll sit in your Ubisoft account, and if you buy the game, the DLC will appear in-game regardless of which platform you buy the game on.
DLC:
- The Seafarer Settlement Pack and the Bayek outfit for Eivor in Assassin's Creed® Valhalla
- The Power Suit outfit and the Ubisoft Mask in Watch Dogs®: Legion
- The Nahari’s Pow Surfer Gift in Hyper Scape™

Re: Bargain thread
The latest issue of White Dwarf magazine ($15) includes a frankly ridiculous number of Steam games, DLC and discount vouchers. Highlights include:
Warhammer: Total War (plus Call of the Beastmen expansion)
Dawn of War
Space Marine
Vermintide II
Vermintide II alone is $42 on Steam. Fuck, even just the Call of the Beastmen DLC for Total War is somehow $29, so to get all this for $15 (with a bonus magazine!) is nuts.
Downloading Vermintide II now.
On the downside, if you already own any of the games, you can't gift them. Was thinking I could gift Total War and Dawn of War. Oh well. At least it added Call of the Beastmen to my existing copy of Total War.

Re: Bargain thread
Picked these up this week at Big W (prices seem to change Big W to big W, I think they are both $30 normally but these are 1/2 that at some)
Tony Hawks remaster Xbox - $15
Dark Pictures - Little Hope PS4 - $15
Don't think you can really go wrong at $15 new.

Re: Bargain thread
Tell Me Why (complete version, chapters 1-3) is now free on all platforms.
The base game (Chapter 1) was released for free on Steam a few months ago. If (like me) you claimed it then, it wants to charge you full price for Chapters 2 and 3. The solution is to remove the base game from your account (via the Steam Support Webpage), and then add it again. Chapters 2 and 3 should then download and appear as DLC in the game properties.
Chapters 2 and 3 are currently downloading for me, so the workaround does work.

Steam cranking the freebies. Little Nightmares was free the other day. I only knew because it was on my wishlist. Should've mentioned it here. I'll do better in future.

Control this week's Epic freebie.
They fucked up the next gen console upgrade path, but this is the PC version, so no such issues. The DLC is also on sale.
