I'm not massively pumped or anything. I suppose I will eb once the price and release date is... released.
But at the moment I am sort of whatever about it. I have no real idea how anything is going to work on it. So yeah, it is really hard to judge what the system is really going to be like.
Hopefully at TGS I'll get my hands on the Wii and I can make my mind up then.

Yeah, how dare a company profit from selling a product! MS and Sony take a loss because they have to in order to make their prices even halfway reasonable. You can be sure they'd sell their consoles for a profit too if they thought they could get away with it. Why on earth would Nintendo do the same when their hardware's so much cheaper than the competition? This has something to do with your crazy "value" logic, doesn't it?mxlegend99 wrote:I won't pay over $300 for it. Not even $301. Nintendo are going to be making money off it as it is. Take a loss like MS and Sony you softcocks.
Pat: I'm looking forward to it, I even have a sneaking suspicion it's going to be great, but I guess I'm just not getting too excited in case it's complete crap (which is always a possibility). Here's hoping.

Yeah. Nintendo are releasing the same generation hardware... and it's not worth more because it has a Nintendo Logo on it. Not to me it aint.Gamma wrote:Yeah, how dare a company profit from selling a product! The competition could quiet easily match Nintendo if they skimped on hardware also.Gamma wrote:You can be sure they'd sell their consoles for a profit too if they thought they could get away with it. Why on earth would Nintendo do the same when their hardware's so much cheaper than the competition?
For me i like value for money. I dont see value in the Wii. Not IMO.Gamma wrote:This has something to do with your crazy "value" logic, doesn't it?
I'm looking forward too it also. It looks kinda cool for niche games. But i won't be paying more then $300 for a console that has the same sort of hardware an Xbox has... when i can pick an Xbox up for $150 with 2 games. The wiimote isn't adding $150 to $200 value to me.Gamma wrote:Pat: I'm looking forward to it, I even have a sneaking suspicion it's going to be great, but I guess I'm just not getting too excited in case it's complete crap (which is always a possibility). (In before Rocco)
The game will support 3 Online Multiplayer Modes:
Assault: Instant Combat
Skirmish: Tactical depth
Co-op: Work with friends
Battalion Wars 2/BWii is also online:Mario Strikers ChargedTM (temporary name)
Format: Wii™
Game Type: Fighting Football
Players: 1-4
Developer: Next Level Games / Nintendo
KEY INFORMATION
Take to the pitch as Mario Strikers Charged (the follow up title to Mario Smash Football) returns with an all new roster of features, only for Wii.
• Use the skill the Wii Remote and Nunchuk Controller provide to win the ball, score unstoppable goals and take control of the goal keeper to perform spectacular saves
Characters: Mario is joined by other famous Nintendo characters who take on the role of captain. Players then select a host of popular teammates to make up the rest of the team.
How to progress through the game: Players form an original team by combining one of 12 captains with three of eight sidekicks before competing in one of the games many modes. Anything goes in Mario Strikers Charged as players are allowed to utilize a variety of special abilities to clinch important goals.
Super abilities/power ups/moves/features: Each captain has their own set of skills, super abilities as well as the ability to perform special shots called Mega Strikes, where the iron ball splits up to five balls and flies at the goal. The defending player must use the Wii Remote to target and aim at and shoot these balls out of the air before they concede a goal. In this game players can also charge energy to the metal ball, making it more likely to find its target when fired at goal.
Each of the stadiums in Mario Strikers Charged have various characteristics and contraptions, which influence game play. Players must learn to use this to their advantage to truly dominate the pitch.
Multiplayer: Mario Strikers Charged will not only feature an action packed multiplayer mode but will also support the Nintendo WiFi connection service, allowing players to take part in tournaments with people from all around the world.
The game will support 3 Online Multiplayer Modes:
Assault: Instant Combat
Skirmish: Tactical depth
Co-op: Work with friends
And yeah ... DC web browsing was painfully slow. You could save 'files' on the VMU though

In other media cock ups...
Joystiq shoot themselves in the head when they announce that they will have major news that people won't want to miss in regards to a next gen console.
The exciting newsbreak article in question
and the apology
nice work joystiq, thank you for making us get all wet in the pants about IBM shipping Wii chips to Nintendo. Yes it is nice to know that production is under way, but it isn't really groundbreaking news that we should all get up at sparrow fart for... (except for us who rule at time).

More price speculation for the Aus launch.
OK, so we know the US price is going to be sub-$249. That translates to AUD $360 including GST (US prices dont include tax).
Now we have a UK price estimate from an analyst claiming GBP 149. Now, UK prices include taxes. We *could* do a straight conversion to AUD, which gives us $368 AUD.
BUT - DS is 99GBP in UK, and $199 in Aus. 99 GBP converts to $245 AUD. So, UK prices seem to include more taxes than Aus prices as they are.
A sensible (lower) estimate can be obtained by taking the ratio of DS price in the UK vs AUS, and multiplying that by the UK Wii estimate.
ie 368*(199/245)
Which gives $298 AUD.
So there's the price range. $299 to $349 all but confirmed. My bet is on $299.

The title has been given a release date of Spring 2007, and it is being reported that the title will feature Wii-DS connectivity! Plus: “EA have confirmed that link-up play with the DS is on the cards, so you can deform your species on the fly.”
The sensor bar is now actually even smaller than it originally was. The Wii-mote will use two AA batteries and will have a life of around 60 hours. However, if you are using the sensor bar (for the Wii's pointing feature) then the lifespan may drop to about 30 hours. The Wii-mote's 6KB of internal memory has the potential to be used for storing information such as sensitivity, controller settings (like axis settings), and has the ability to store information including saves or scores!
Regarding SD cards, it has become apparent that you can use the cards for saving your game progress, and also for Virtual Console saves. However, you will not be able to play your Virtual Console titles on somebody else's Wii system.
[Talking about SD cards] “these tiny cards can be used to store game saves and virtual console games, but Digital Right Management features mean you can’t play your games on someone else’s Wii.”

1. Bonk's Adventure

Nintendo confirms launch "before Christmas"! Er, okay, they aren't confirming, they're just 'being confident'! Er...
Found via the Something Awful forums.

They promise price and date will be announced within the next fortnight.
