If you like the DOA series you will like this. Some diehards are annoyed at the change in counter timing, but you can't please everyone.

I like it a lot. Plus I like that the full ending is frigging awesome and ties the entire series together.

Well, after reading IGN's review I'm definitely going to seek out DOA4. They claim it's one of the best, if not the best looking xbox360 game at the time of it's review. I like dead or alive, it's no soul calibur and VF is just TOOOOOOO deep for me (unfortunately).

fuck off it doesn't look next gen. It is one of the better looking games on the system. Sit 3 and 4 side by side and you will see the difference.

Yeah but sit DOA4 and VF5 next to each other (it's ok that VF5 isnt out - even the vids look better) and you see which one is the real deal.

DOA4 doesn't even have a proper lighting engine. The clipping with the girls' hair is laughably bad. It's DOA3 with an upped poly count and 720p support. Whoop-de-do!

The game is garbage.

And that's the bottom line, cause Stone Cold said so!

whether VF5 looks better than DOA4 or not is completely irrelevant. If it's one of the better looking games on the system, it must look pretty bloody good!

DOA4 looks nice but there's something about it that doesn't look very next-gen like - no real bump-mapping, everything is too clean, lighting is arse.

I think the most impressive games are PGR3 and FN3 for just looking so goddamn realistic and Kameo for being a constant 60fps with an absolute fucking tonne of characters on screen at once (with damn nice textures and models at the same time).

Oh and Burnout for being 60fps and just piling on the speed. Awesome.

The only real problem for me is the faces in DOA4. Other then that it is gorgeous. The environments are just so lush and full.

You don't notice the difference in games much until you see the same game on previous gen consoles. FNR3 and Burout are so vastly different from their previous gen counterparts.

Did you play it flipswitch? I'm 99% sure it's 60fps. It doesn't have any blur hiding the 30fps on other games (like PGR3 or FN3).

Nah, I thought I read it somewhere.. anyway, glad to be wrong as it's definitely a stunner. I've been looking around the net and I'm finding a lot on 30fps. Don't think I've came across a website that says it's 60fps besides a Playnow one

It's the art direction, the anime doll like faces kinda don't really give that realistic look we look for in next gen games now. The bodies though especially on characters like jan lee look great. Environments are also fantastic. Also in regards to lighting candy, doa uses spot light sources and lighting hiting those normal mapped surfaces properly, the problem is shadows, in which from latest screens of DOAX2 it seems they've gotten self shadows into the engine now. VF5 seriously needs some AA though, the jaggies are pretty horrible in that game, especially on the boxed arenas and timber floors/tiles etc.

DOA4 is better because it's on Xbox 360

Seriously what else is out there ambrose, tekken? Jaggy fighter 5. Funny enough the only fighter that really looks next gen and the goods is FN3 imo.
